As highly as all our hopes are for him, I thought he deserved a thread to follow his progress and development. Looking forward to watching this kid for many years to come.

I already have his poster on my wall! I’m happy we’ve got something to write home about. The kid possesses all the tools. I suggest people go back and watch video of Cale Makar when he was drafted. Remember. Makar was drafted out of the AJHL. That’s a step below the WHL. Ya he dominated there. But look at what KK has done in a better league at the same age. They both skate amazing, they have that hockey wherewithal that not everyone has.
I’m not saying he’s the next Makar. But I’m just showing the comparable’s at the same age. Plus Makar is 5’11”. KK 6’2”. So a bit of an advantage there. There’s always a chance that for whatever reason a kid just doesn’t make it. I really don’t think that’s the case here. I think at worst, he’ll project to be a Seth Jones. Which is still a great thing!!!

I keep hearing how he needs a lot of work on the defensive side, I don't see it. Yes he sometimes tries too much with the puck in his own end but without the puck he plays the position really well.
And he's already an elite skater with great passing and shot.
He went from 5'10" to 6'2" before his draft year and it didn't slow him down, it'll be fun watching him progress.

What I’ve seen in the pre season. Especially against Detroit. He seemed to force passes. He looked like giveaway Gill a couple of times. He was on for a goal against, but for the most part, he recovered quite well. Again, the kid is 18 and playing well. That’s not “normal” for 18 year olds playing in an NHL theatre. It’ll be very cool to see how he does this year. The kid is teaming with confidence!!!

Very good to know KK is in the pipeline and apparently has what it takes to eventually be a top 4 (or better) D-man.

Seattle has Korchinski listed at 6'3", same with Allan, both listed at 6'2" when drafted.
I hope they both make team Canada with Del Mastro, 3/4 of the future top4.

...so I was excited to see PDX host Seattle tonight to see Korch... ... ... ...and he's scratched. 😒 He's at the Canadian camp, there's no way he'd be scratched. That's what I was thinking--and it was odd because he played Everett Friday night. The guy sitting next to us at the game was an NHL scout and explained it to us. Before that I was like, "Was he injured; what gives?" I forgot about the WJrs. ...so I was excited to see PDX host Seattle tonight to see Korch... ... ... ...and he's scratched. 😒 Ha! I was actually thinking of going to tonight's game. I think that they will play Seattle a couple more times? The game started out good...and then in the 2nd and most of the 3rd the Winterhawks went into a shell and blew the lead, they managed to tie it with 30 seconds left and then won the shootout. could have put some distance between them and Seattle but failed to capitalize. They host Seattle once more in February and twice more in March.

Korchinski with 3a in 3gms playing a limited role and no PP time. Next World Juniors he should be a top2 dman.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Korchinskis goal that got Bedard to 31pts.
It was a beautiful short side snipe, next year he'll play a bigger role with Canada.

And still at a point a game. He’ll probably get 2 points a game in a bigger role with more experience. I don’t see the rushing him. Unless he absolutely belongs in the NHL. I still say send him back next year to absolutely dominate. Then join the Hogs in the 2024 playoffs. And look to the Hawks. Or even have him start the year in the AHL in 24/25. He can do it due to 4 years in the CHL. I still believe he’s gonna make it tough for the Hawks not to take him next year. If the right thing to do is go back to Jrs, send him back. But also if the right thing to do is to play him at the NHL at a limited role his first year. You do that!!!

Some sites still have him listed at 6'1" around 180lbs but at the draft they said he went from 5'10" to 6'2" before his draft year, and Seattle has him listed at 6'3" 185lbs. He looked it at the World Juniors.
One thing he needs to work on is not trying low percentage passes in his own end, they look great when they connect but bad when it's turned over. Other then that he's looked good at both ends and knows how to use his size and speed to cut off plays or get the puck back.
Kevin said he wanted to become a 2way dman like Shea Theodore and he's maturing this season. Fellow Sask D partner Allan could be like Seabs with Keith, even though he's more of a Hjalmarsson type, which is still great. I wonder if KD had any influence on Allan going to Seattle.

I am so pumped for this TDL, lottery and draft I can't stand it. Same here, last draft they took a dman in the top10, this year it'll be a forward. Hopefully they get another first and do the opposite of last year and go forward, D, forward. It'll be great getting Dragicevic as the dman in the 1st. Of their 10 picks the Hawks drafted 8 forwards, with the amount of D in the system it should be another forward heavy draft, better odds to have all the lines filled.

Hopefully Tampas core slows down and they drop a few spots before the end of the season and lose in the first round, if they don't I'm sure KD will make some moves to get another first. Dragicevic and Korchinski would make the Hawks PP lethal, especially with guys like Bedard/Fantilli, Nazar and Reichel.

I'm watching the Seattle/Everett game - it's 3-2 Seattle after 2 periods. KK has 1 assist where he started a 2 on 1 break during 4 on 4 play. His skating is elite. He's constantly involved in the o-zone and has a number of shots on net including from the blue line. He got caught pinching once but his team mates covered for him so no damage done. I don't know if he'll be ready for the rigors of the NHL next season but with his skating he will be very good. I don't know if his straight line speed is as good as Makar's but his edge work along with his puck handling is darn close to Makar.

He finished with 1g-3a, all primary assists, including one on the gwg in OT. If he does play in the NHL next season I'm sure Luke will use him properly, 3rd pair with PP time. Unlike JC playing Boqvist on the top2 right away.

Big thnx for the eye witness update. Howdy GT and belated happy birthday. Yeah, been a while but it's nice to be "back". With the Hawks in full tank mode my interest in every jot and tittle of all things Hawks has understandably waned a bit. Don't get me wrong - I still watch every game but there's more to be interested in with the prospects more so than the daily speculation of trade talk. I've been streaming some Seattle games and really like what I see from KK. Allan has played well too but doesn't have the elite skating of KK. The Seattle team has turning into an allstar team with the additions of Lambert and soon to be Dach and possibly Dylan Guenther. Hopefully they'll have a long playoff run so we can watch KK, Allan and Dach in highly competitive games.

Korchinski with another primary assist last night to give him 50pts, and it was on the gwg in a 4-2 win.
7g-43a in 37gms.

Maybe when Cale Makar retires, lol. But still he is very talented. Not his fault that Chicago overpaid him. So he took what he can get, and baby, ya ain't seen nothin' yet. I can't help getting excited by the future Hawks. Especially if we win the lotto. If not, we will still get a premium center, and that is OK.
