I like the fact that Shevy never goes for the over the top celebrations. He's going to be a good player for the Hawks. I agree. Hear me out. He reminds me of a poor man’s Draisaitl. He doesn’t have the size but he seems to have “it”. And by “it”‘I mean this massive awareness on the ice and is always making plays. Put a big man on the line with Bedard and Shevy and I think you’ll see some massive scoring. It’s nice to see the guy develop!!!

Kurashev plays a good all around game. He was somewhat compromised defensively this season because Bedard is a negative on defense and most of the time he was out there with the 3/4 or 5/6 d-pairings. Watching him play for the Swiss team you can see he plays a solid defensive game.
BTW - he came within a fraction of an inch of winning the game when he dove to the net and his shot skimmed past the pipe. So close.

I sure hope he's with the team once they start contending. They need continuity.

We could have had an all German team....
3rd Reichel and Mein Kampf.
Just add KLINKhammer and some guy named Schultz and it would be complete.

I don’t think the Hawks do that yet. He’ll be 30 in October. And he’ll want at least 8-9 million. And for 7 years. Hawks may not even contend in his contract time. While Elliot is the man. He did say that’s his guess.
Right player, wrong time!!!

in the clip he says guentzel to Chicago as his big guess/surprise true enough. the whole "midwest connection" angle doesn't hold a lot of water. he was born about 400 miles from chicago and played high school hockey in minnesota. no chicago/illinois connections whatsoever. i should've read more before posting.

Salary cap up to $88 million The following season $92 million One thing I haven’t cared for is the league says “the cap should go up to 92 million next year”. So GMs act accordingly. And get sewered for it. The Hawks last GM fell for that, many times and it crushed him. I feel the league should just hold off with the financials until they know it’s legit!!!

I’m gonna say something here. The cost of hockey is horrible. The average family cannot afford this. On top of this, there’s the political landscape of the sports. I’ll give you examples. This past year, our AAA team budget was over 110,000$. For 17 kids. Or 6500$ per family. We all did fundraising etc. The organization makes each AAA team give a monthly budget. We never received anything. The manager had money e-transfered to his personal bank account. I questioned this. But the organization didn’t want to hear it because the manager’s Uncle owns the Spitfires. So it was easier to get rid of me or anyone else who questioned it. My son was literally the best player on the team, and now he’s not welcome back. Plus you have cops on the board who help this along, just so their kid can make the team, but don’t belong. So now you have massive amounts of people not even coming out. You’ll see maybe 21 kids tryout. And they need 17. It’s sad. And I’m sure there’s even worse stories out there. Much worse. This is the main driver why kids aren’t playing anymore. Do now I have quite a few friends that hold a lot of clout. And my boy will be alright. But what about the others that don’t? It’s gawd awful what they put people through. Hockey Canada needs a total overhaul!!!

LeBrun this evening.
Blackhawks needs
Chicago GM Kyle Davidson continues to make his calls around the league, and it’s clear from what we’re hearing from other front offices that he’s looking around for a top-six forward and perhaps a middle-six forward, too.
There’s a desire to upgrade the group and give Connor Bedard more offensive support.
There was a rumor floating around that the Hawks were considering taking a look at suspended star forward Valeri Nichushkin from the Colorado Avalanche, but I’m told they’re not interested. Just too much unknown and risk for their liking.
But as mentioned above, Necas is among the many possibilities on the trade market. The Hawks have also targeted some UFAs on the July 1 market. They’ve got the salary-cap room to be aggressive, but at the same time, I think they want to be careful they don’t do something that gets in the way of having room to take care of their younger core in a few years. So, similar to Utah and all its cap room, the Chicago plan seems to be more geared toward shorter-term contracts for UFAs with perhaps the allure of a higher AAV than most teams can afford under the cap.

I’m gonna say this. I see the plan now. I feel after next years draft the Hawks will have most of the piece's. I feel from 2022 when the rebuild started, it’ll be an 8 year process till the Hawks can be counted on to be in the playoffs regularly.
It just doesn’t sound like the Hawks are looking at hurrying up this rebuild. Which I guess was the plan all along. Unless some of these kids really start to impress, I see another 4-5 years of missing the playoffs and growing pains.
I’m not sure KD sees the end of this rebuild to be honest. I think Hawks upper brass will want a playoff team within a couple years. So we’ll see what happens. This years and next years drafted players won’t even be in the conversation for another year or two.
Maybe they could offer Guentzel a 3 year deal at 11 million per? They can overpay, but not beyond 3 years. Not saying it’s the best move, but I just don’t think now is the time to get a massive free agent. Team probably needs a top 10 pick next year anyways!!!

Our GM may be feeling a little heat to make some progress, which his public statements this year would seem to confirm.

Seth said 2 mouthfuls on what he doesn’t care for a lot. And Dicky said it’s tough for team unity when you have a bunch of guys on one year deals. Foligno spoke up. KD will be the GM no one wants to sign with if he keeps on tanking. But…….. I know this hurts to say. I believe the Hawks truly need one more tank year. Get another top 3 pick. Next years draft is gonna be good too. Hawks could really use another nice piece. Especially if they take Levshunov. Gonna have to find a lot of guys in trades and UFA. Not many top 6 players will be on this team!!!

Not many top 6 players will be on this team!!! I suppose this may be more a matter of semantics than intent - but I don't think the Hawks need or want another tank year. If they fall into a top-3 pick or even a top-5 pick - that would be great, but unlike the past two seasons I believe the Hawks intent is to play appreciably better and NOT prioritize where they end up in the draft order. The good news, so to speak, is that even with appreciably better play they still have a high probability of ending low enough in the standings to be in a top-5 draft position before the ping pong balls drop. Look at the 2023/24 bottom feeders - they all have exciting young players already playing or joining the team this season. All those teams should improve, including the Hawks. However, they could all improve and still be among the bottom feeders next season.
