Rocky was an upgrade over his dad, low bar, let's hope Danny is better than his. Since Danny is the ONLY senior hockey executive above the GM level in the entire Org,he'll have to be. I'm not sure we can consider President of Business Opps Jaime Faulkner a 'hockey executive' with her BB/business background but since she's the ONLY other executive in the entire Org,she represents the team on the NHL Board of Governers in all matters. THESE are the people who'll be making the future decisions on GM,HC and very possibly getting involved with the high-profile trades and FA acquisitions to come. Danny's already said he's hired a CEO for Breakthrough Beverage so he can concentrate on running the hockey team and it looks like he plans on being 'hands-on' after being involved with draft prospect interviews. Not only do we have to hope our young GM is up to the job,we have to hope our owner who has total control of the team and was in an entirely different business only six years ago recognizes it if he is. not gonna lie, that part of the video where KfC is thanking Danny Boy is cringe.

I will take this opportunity to once again state that this should all but confirm a retirement ceremony this coming season, seeing as it got left behind on the previous page.
when do we play the yotes? o wait...
I'll guess March 7 vs the Utahs

Newly signed Blackhawks’ numbers, plus a few returning players have changed numbers: Craig Smith: #15 Martinez: #25 Brossoit: #39 Levshunov: #55 Bertuzzi: #59 Maroon: #77 Brodie: #78 Teravainen: #86 Mikheyev: #95 Korchinski: #14 Anderson: #22 Reichel: #73 x.com/BenPopeCST/status/1811841430903529795I like that Korchinski is back to his junior number. And it wasn't smart giving anyone 27 in Chicago, especially Boqvist, but neither him or Reichel are anything like the best Blackhawk to wear 27.

I'll guess March 7 vs the Utahs just to review the criteria... Player must be retired for at least three years, which doesn't include long-term injured reserve
Minimum of eight years and 500 games played with the Blackhawks for skaters; 400 games played with the team for goaltenders
Hockey Hall of Famer or has played at least 1,000 games (700 for a goaltender)
Played more games with the Blackhawks than any other team during NHL career
Among the most prolific Blackhawks at his position, as evidenced by on-ice performance, All-Star selections and major NHL Awards
Exhibited (and continues to exhibit) strong off-ice character
Changed the game of hockey
Additional consideration will be given to members of the Stanley Cup winning teams with the Blackhawks, along with the entire body of work by a player to the organization, which includes time as a broadcaster and ambassadorwww.nbcsportschicago.com/nhl/chicago-blackhawks/blackhawks-implement-new-guidelines-for-future-number-retirements/505550/i'd have larmer's up there before JR's but of course larmer isn't in the hall of fame yet for some reason. doug wilson's should be up before roenick's as well imho. still...i'll be happy to see JR's number retired but i'll still be a bit surprised if it happens.

I think he and Larmer should probably go first, tbh. I just wouldn't put it past the brass to do JR first. younger(ish) fans know of him more, it would probably draw a big crowd. they can do the other two at any point. one day, by god, they'll hang 28 up there.

(personally, mine would be 53) why burden yourself with more pressure by choosing a number that has such a history behind it? hell...another former great darryl sutter wore #27 for 7 years as well, same length as roenick.

Maybe double-high numbers are okay (88, 99, 77, 66), but anything else just looks stupid to me. #73 for Reichel? I don't know, just not a fan, but hey, it's their choice.

this was requested in the Bedard thread and i am posting it here, so as not to derail that thread. www.nhl.com/news/seth-jones-wants-to-be-next-chicago-blackhawks-captainI know I certainly found it off putting initially, but I think the headline kinda does Jones wrong, tbh. felt like he wasn't openly lobbying for it, more like he would be a-ok with doing that job if selected. that being said, he is almost certainly not going to ever be the Captain in Chicago at this point. last off season was probably his only chance (another thing that was known at the time and likely another reason the headline was off putting). now, it'll either be Foligno or Bedard.

Thanks Vad your right on headline very misleading. I would love if #4 got the C just to see everyones reaction. All he did last year was take a rookie under his wing and I think he did a great job with the pickle. But as most on this site will tell you that was all Pickle, Jones had nothing to do with it. Now if the team wants him to do the same with Kor that would be great. But if the team wants him to change his game I believe that would be a big mistake. But its the same group that told me last summer Lucas was a center.

I agree that changing his game seems silly. the talk of him and KK playing together seems equally silly. why not just let he and pickle be the top pairing? he and KK together seems like an awful idea to me. the only reason I could see them wanting to do that would be for KK to get used to playing with an offensively minded partner due to them planning on pairing him with Levshunov when he comes up. or, ya know, they could just send KK down and play them together in Rockford.

Jones didn't take Bedard under his wing, and he certainly didn't do a great job with Vlasic, a few times I heard Alex say to Seth "where are you going", usually because Seth gets running around in his own end. And there's a vid on social media of Kane yelling at Seth saying "Where the f*ck are you going". Seth acted like a spoiled kid for most of last season, got better after his time on the IR, but he still didn't pass to Bedard much, even when he was wide open and the shooting lane was taken. And Reichel was a center in Rockford for 2 seasons and was around 50% and a point per game. Seems like a good reason to think he could've been a 2C.

Thanks to Vader for the link -- I don't think it was that bad now that I read it. He was somewhat prompted by the reporter, maybe her question was even more leading, we don't know exactly how she asked it. But either way, it's not that bad, he pretty much clears it up by the 4th paragraph. I said before that they shouldn't just slap the C on Bedard simply because he's the best offensive player on the team. I feel the same way about Jones: they shouldn't just slap the C on him simply because he's been here for a while. The guy needs to know how to lead; that should be the one and only determining factor.

Clearly Bedard will eventually wear the C. But I think he wants to earn it rather than have it just handed to him. And earn it via leadership which I believe he will increasingly demonstrate. can’t wait for this next season to begin!

In my opinion, the best litmus for a good captain is having something similar to a Toews "This team doesn't hate to lose enough" moment. Bedard hasn't had that moment, yet. No one on this squad really has (yet). You could argue Jones calling out the brass for any lack of stability and consistency in the lineup (and Jones isn't wrong), but that was just the brass. No one has called out all 19-20 guys at the same time who were on the ice for the games (and behind the bench as well). Bedard may be a lead by example-type, but I think he has to take on that mantle of being able do things like that--to remind the team that they are all in this together and they need to ante up and work hard for the win.

Also things to do in Toronto not hockey related. Season will start about 3 weeks later this is my ass kissing time so non hockey stuff would be helpful thanks! First off, I hope you don’t drive a newer pick up truck. Toronta is the vehicle theft capital of the world. We had 2 trucks stolen from our hotel from our team. Two really great people got their trucks stolen. I actually seen the one get stolen. They ripped outta the parking lot, couldn’t do much but throw a rock at the truck. They recovered it on a train, and the back window was broken. So, good chance I did that. But enough about that stuff. Steak houses I’ve been to are Hy’s. Very good. Chop is nice. Rodeo was good. Ruth’s Chris can’t go wrong. Those are a few. There’s a litany of things to do. Such as different aquarium places with cool stuff. CN tower is always quite the trip to the top. It’s really way the hell up there. Go see a ball game. They’ve redone Rogers Center. Heard it’s nice now. Toronta Harbour is cool. There’s Tall Ship tours on Lake Ontario. My advice is simply if you’re in Niagara region. Stay there. Go to Niagara on the lake. About 20 mins north of the falls. Just an awesome place. Very peaceful. It’s a wine region. Gretzky has a cool winery there with a great restaurant. That’s the jewel of the “Golden Horseshoe”. That s basically from the top of Toronta to the Niagara region. It’s very very populated, especially around the Toronta region with Hamilton, Burlington, Oakville, Mississauga etc all right there. I’d say that area has around 10 million people. Ontario has 15 million. Canada has 41 million. So it goes to show you that 1/4 of the country lives there. And it’s the worst part of the country. As you can tell, I’m not a fan of Toronta. The traffic is gawd awful. I’ve been through Chicago many times. And this is much much worse. I believe it’s the worst in North America. Anyways, have fun wherever you go. But definitely make the 20 minute drive up to Niagara on the lake. It’s a great place!!!
