not sure this is such a good idea.
you don't want to frustrate them so much so early. they're just kids, dammit!

nothing written in stone obviously... saw this earlier. with what Levshunov said before the draft and this, I feel like both sides would prefer the Rock.

Couple things here. I was reading how the kid literally showed up at Milsteins house with a suit case and very few clothes or belongings. He even had to buy the kid some equipment. The poor kid hasn’t had much continuity in his life over the past couple years. He went to Bowling Green in the USHL, then to State. Now to Rockford for a year and then to Chicago the year after? I think it may be best let him return to State and let him be a kid. Let him be with his buddies and grow there.
Another thing, what would his AHL salary be? My guess is if he was to play in Rockford, he’d first get 10 games in to kick start his contract and he could earn some real money. It’s hard to train and eat right when you make less than 100k. So I believe they’ll get him his 10 games and he’ll get 900k. This will take him into the off-season and he can train. The problem is, he really can’t go back to Belarus. He defected, so this is home now. He’ll need to find a suitable place to call home. And that also costs a lot!!!

"we'll see....maybe ahl, maybe college...maybe, uh...nhl. we'll see". you need to crank up the sound if you want to hear the questions. why can't they fix that?

And when he asked what he should work on before coming to America he was told to speak English and he picked it up fast. Plus losing his dad to covid and not seeing his mom for a year and a half before she was brought over for the draft has made him grow up fast. He should start the season in the AHL and get familiar with guys he'll be teammates with for hopefully many years.

Seems like every prospect that's done this off ice camp really likes it, Rinzel said he learned a lot about food and it's one of the reasons he's a lot bigger and now Levshunov is saying how he liked it too. The only ones who don't like it are some of the fans. Luke said it's beneficial to let them take a break from drills and scrimmages, especially after their seasons are done and some went through the draft, it's better to let them learn off ice stuff and bond together.

Probably the same fans who drove down to watch the scrimmages and drills and support the youngsters,I attended many. They're still the only Org to go this route and that's good with me............I'd rather be fishing anyway.

I personally don’t think it’s much of a deal about the prospects camp. I don’t think it’s ruining any career or saving one. It’s just a different approach and maybe less stressful on the kids?
I remember when Dcat did the camp and most said he looked awful and slow etc. But he just finished the Memorial Cup. Played a shit ton of games and wasn’t ready for that but he turned out to be the best of that crop.
One thing I will give credit for is Vlasic. I remember he had an injury in his last college year. He signed at the end, most thought he’d play the playoffs for the Hogs. But KD said he missed his workout routine the year before and it wasn’t good for him. So they signed him and gave him the summer off. Then he played a year in the AHL and now he’s a solid NHL player.
So some of their ideas seem logical and work!!!

I'm too far to drive there but I watched every vid they had on practices and scrimmages and loved watching these camps. I was a little disappointed but I get it, and the players seem very receptive to it. They're creating bonds and learning life skills that'll help them on and off the ice.

I don't think either one of us are looking for a nit to pick,we're just the part of the fanbase that supported and enjoyed development camp, who cares what we think. Danny's claimed he'd take the team in a new direction,he's as involved as an owner gets and he holds total sway over his young underlings......this is un-debatable. Danny answers to NO one,NO family member,NO owners group,NO Board of Governors and NO Pres of Hockey Opps to insulate him from those young underlings.......this is also un-debatable. Let's hope there's a minimum of meddling on Danny's part and the young underlings are allowed to make their own decisions!

It's still the only opportunity an NHL team get's to have every single prospect, coach, scout and FO personnel in the same place for three straight days and every one of em were at every camp. These kids come from pretty 'far flung' places nowadays and even the scouts can't 'eyeball' all of em and it might be the only chance a busy GM and HC to ever see any of em before training camp if they make it. I can live with what they do now but they're still the only team to take this approach.

Bedard does not have a Toews, "This team doesn't hate to lose enough" moment...yet. When Toews did that I knew he had the chops to be captain. As soon as he Toews was drafted and not even at the podium to greet Tallon and Bettman, most were saying "future captain" even as an 18-year-old. True, but even so that "the team doesn't hate to lose enough" moment solidified it; he did what you'd expect a leader to do...even though he was not senior and had a ton of vet leadership on the team at the time. He de facto stepped into the role at that point. Bedard has not had that leadership moment...yet.

It's kind of a bland, basic look.
No details like bonus's, NMC NTC, entry level etc.

It's hard not to root for this kid, hung out at his dad's gym when he was two and said he'd be a boxer if it wasn't for hockey. Once he adds some bulk to that big frame and works on his top speed, he'll be a force on the ice. Goodman will get him on the right path.

Rocky was an upgrade over his dad, low bar, let's hope Danny is better than his. Since Danny is the ONLY senior hockey executive above the GM level in the entire Org,he'll have to be. I'm not sure we can consider President of Business Opps Jaime Faulkner a 'hockey executive' with her BB/business background but since she's the ONLY other executive in the entire Org,she represents the team on the NHL Board of Governers in all matters. THESE are the people who'll be making the future decisions on GM,HC and very possibly getting involved with the high-profile trades and FA acquisitions to come. Danny's already said he's hired a CEO for Breakthrough Beverage so he can concentrate on running the hockey team and it looks like he plans on being 'hands-on' after being involved with draft prospect interviews. Not only do we have to hope our young GM is up to the job,we have to hope our owner who has total control of the team and was in an entirely different business only six years ago recognizes it if he is.
