same here, but only for Danielson. My worry about Moore is that there’s too much emphasis on his skating and not enough on his hockey. He’s not an elite scorer and maybe he scores what he does now due to his skating. But in the NHL, skating is just an asset and not everything. Gotta have skill to boot. Danielson seems like more of an overall game. Plus size. There is a chance he’ll be there at 19. But I feel Pitt, Calgary etc will take him ahead of the Hawks!!! I believe Moore has a better chance to be there at 19 and that is not very likely. Yes, Danielson 200' foot player, size and good overall game. It will be a major upset if he is available at 19 and if he drops into the 10-15 range Hawks got to go get him.

Another tidbit. Andrew Cristall will not be a Hawks pick. I heard 2 scouts say “If there’s a worse skater in this draft, I haven’t seen them”. And they said “he looks every bit of 5’9” out there, I don’t think his game translates to the pro game”. So it’s safe to say he has good hands and a good IQ, but no size and no skating. It’s hard to tell who’ll go where. But I think if a trade is to happen, gotta wait till the draft. Why trade now if your target may not be there? You’ve come this far, might as well wait till the end now!!! To your point about his skating & no size: Scout's quote: "There are few prospects in this draft more polarizing than Cristall. On one hand, he is one of the most creative and unique offensive talents available. On the other, he is an undersized winger with a very awkward and clunky skating stride. His prolific production screams NHL superstar yet his physical profile points to a minor-leaguer. He's a potential home run swing." - Mazloum

So is there any possibility the Hawks swap #1 with Anaheim for their #1, plus a package of picks and prospects? Hawks get Fantilli, additional picks in this year's and future drafts (Anaheims 1st in both 2024 & 25), plus 1 or 2 of their top prospects. Not saying I want this because Bedard is so much above the rest of the class. But if you're building for the future, Fantilli and a package may accelerate the rebuild faster then Bedard alone. The only way we trade the #1 pick is if KD wants to be fired before the next pick is in. Ditto with picking Fantilli or Michkov instead. If you have a generational guy who is likely to be the next Crosby, you don't trade that away unless you're getting a ready-made core in the process. Anaheim doesn't have that; if they did, they wouldn't be in the cellar with us. Plus, the core doesn't have to be built in one year. If I recall correctly, the only 2 core pieces we got in the same year for the last core was Seabs and Dr. Craw. I think there's a decent chance of leveraging lower picks (like 19), plus we have a ton of picks next year. Couple that with Reichel looking good, plus the ascension of Korch and Allan. We're not looking that bad. It's still possible to screw it up, but we're looking better than we have for the future since the Tallon regime. But yeah, given the amount of Bedard sweaters already sold, and an uptick in season tickets, I think the KD's bosses won't let him trade that pick away even if he wanted to.

Should Hawks want to trade back into late first round, Leafs with only 3 total picks would seem a good candidate. Offer (2) second picks for #28 overall or possibly #27 Avs who only have 4 picks. I would think you would have to offer the #35 at minimum and then #51 or #55. I would not offer #35 & #44 though.

I’m not all that crazy about giving up picks to trade up. That said if an appealing offer surfaces, I hope KD is adept at doing a deal. Also I wouldn’t be opposed to trading a 2nd rounder for a first rounder next year - especially with a team likely to finish in the bottom half of the standings.

I would trade up if there is player you have ranked on your board higher and is falling and most likely will not be there at #35. I would not just trade up if there a group of players you like. Have a hard time seeing traditional bottom teams taking a second this year for a first next year, but hey you can always listen, no harm there. Maybe a perennial contender might do that, especially if they feel will be drafting in 20-32 range next year.

Cam Robinson with Elite Prospects said that he doesn’t foresee him as an NHL player. On a side note. My son played with Spencer Sova last night. He was the 8th overall pick in the OHL. He plays for Erie. He’s 6’1” 185. He got 16 goals last year for a Dman. Hes ranked to go in the 6-7 round range. He looked pretty damn good. He even shattered the glass with a shot at WFCU Center last night. He came out to skate with the kids. My boy is only 12 in AAA. Spencer played there so he came back to see the kids. Sova played with Bedard at the under 18s a couple years back. He was telling my boy how great of a person Bedard is!!!

It is almost time for the Hawk's scouting teams to shine, it is graduation day Wednesday, June 28th & Thursday, June 29th, Game 7. This is where all those long hours, hard work, long bus rides and overseas trips hopefully pays off.
The Hawks are well positioned with the lottery gift, draft assets, cap space, original 6 franchisee, great hockey city. Let's hope the hockey side front office and the scouting department are ready for the challenge to move this team and franchise forward and soon to be a contender and envy of the league and more important to us as fans.

Pitt needs more picks as well, I think a combo of 19, a 2023 2nd and a 3rd (23 or 24) would be enough. they need to reload their system and have few picks to do so. we could also swap firsts and take on Granland.

Although 5' 11" only 165 lbs. committed to Boston College, very offensive type of player, playmaker, will be an asset on the Power play. Most mocks have going before #19.

Look for the Preds to be active and try to make a big splash. With the draft in Nashville, armed with draft assets, shredded salary with Johansen trade and with Trotz on record saying time to take chances and swing for the fences, no use always fishing in the middle could see some wheeling and dealing.

I'd consider him at 19, but there would have to be a few other guys all gone at that point and I doubt that will be the case. personally, I am hoping Barlow or Honzek drops to us there, although I am pretty sure Honzek is gonna get picked by the wangs, either at 9 or 17...

I heard a wee bit ago that the Preds are heavily trying to move into the top 5. Like, trading all your picks from this year for a top 5 pick will not get it done. Anything after the 2nd round is a waste of time. Sure the odd player comes out of there. But it’s the top 2 rounds that produces the most. I don’t really think the Preds get there. They don’t even have that much in the system to warrant that. It’s cool they’re making noise though!!!

Well the Avs now have 6 picks just acquired #31 & #37 from Montreal for Alex Newhook. I know Newhook was a former 1st round pick (16th overall] , but that seems like a high price tag giving those picks in a very strong draft. Hewhook is a RFA with no arbitration rights.

I’m not sure there’s much more to get outta this draft for the Hawks. We don’t know if KD was close or not. But he said he was gonna try. Although it’s exciting to see your team do something cool. Or aggressive. But Hawks are in a rebuild and there’s not much sexy about that. So we’ll see what happens. Unless a team is making a bigger move and needs cap space, I don’t see many if any other teams losing draft capital to lose a contract. I Think most teams will wait till closer to free agency and lose next years draft picks!!!

I do not know if the reason teams are reluctant to give up picks to lose a contract because this draft is very deep, they rather prefer the buyout route, or we are seeing a change in strategy/philosophy. Either way all of those "dream trades" taking on bad contracts for 1st round picks or move up from #19 do not look very promising right now, a day before the draft. I suppose things might change, not likely though IMO. We just saw Kevin Hayes given away for a 6th round pick with 50% retained and even our trade with Hall no money retained by Boston or picks coming back. I still can see Hawks acquiring late 1st and will have to give up #35 and another second, but do not see getting a first for a bad contract.
