Great article, crazy to think a 10yr old was so cool and calm training with NHL players and didn't ask for a pic or autograph. And I didn't know he's the only player to win the mvp at the Brick tournament with his team not being in the final.

Wow - after practicing/playing with that high powered group, going to Hawks camp might be a disappointment. But it will certainly be a positive experience for CB.

He went last summer, Kane was there, then went back to Regina, I'm sure Chicago won't be a disappointment compared to Regina. After the World Juniors Kane was asked about Bedard and he talked about how at the last BioSteel camp Bedard and McDavid had a 2 on 1 and Bedard took the shot, love this kids confidence.

The kid must be having a blast. Not sure if it is just the camera ops folks but McDavid almost appears to be toting a younger brother around who, like George Foreman's boys, shares the same first name.

I haven't collected cards since my teens, almost 3 decades ago 😳, but I'm buying a couple boxes of cards when his rookie card comes out early 2024.
Even here in Edmonton they're loading up on Bedard memorabilia, says a lot about how special he really is because a lot of Oiler fans can't stand Chicago.
I would've been ecstatic with Fantilli or Carlsson, because the odds of staying in the top3 were lower than the 4th or 5th spot. But getting Bedard, who's been touted as generational player since probably 10yrs old, is starting to sink in more as the season nears.
Buckle up and enjoy the ride, we have another great leader and young core of great kids. Who knows, could be a Money Puck movie, the Hawks have the biggest analytics department with a guy who was literally part of the Cubs win that inspired Money Ball. Or we get another top10 pick lol both would be great.

"The film is based on the 2003 nonfiction book, "Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game", by Michael Lewis. The book is an account of the Oakland Athletics baseball team's 2002 season and their general manager Billy Beane's attempts to assemble a competitive team."

I meant Chicago having Greenberg, who was part of the Cubs for their win and the analytics concept that was brought to them from Theo Epstein, who learned it from Billy. Theo took Billy's idea to big market teams and helped them win.

Awesome news, I was wondering if they'd let him go, especially considering what happened to Dach. But Bedard doesn't seem fragile like Kirby. Any news of other players going? Curious if Marcel² will be there, or Savoie, they'll make sure guys won't go after Bedard.

The Tom Kurvers tournament is supposed to be 9/13 - 9/17. Do the Hawks players practice in Chicago before going to St. Paul?

Do the Hawks players practice in Chicago before going to St. Paul? nothing i could honestly say was definite but in zawaski's latest, greg boysen said that they'll practice at the 5th 3rd arena before heading to the tourney in st. paul. about 29 minutes in if interested but there's not much said about it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=MiTqSOONYzQ

I hope that Chicago's Connor does more for his team's outcome each season than Edmonton's Connor has.

I hope that Chicago's Connor does more for his team's outcome each season than Edmonton's Connor has. I think he will, he's far more personable at 18 than McDavid is now. McDavid always seemed awkward off the ice. Bedard makes everyone around him better, on and off the ice. Plus he has a great coach and a smart sensible gm who's doing the rebuild right, unlike the guys they had running things in Edmonton.

i guess some members of the chicago media find connor bedard too boring.
then yesterday on zawaski's podcast, tirabassi also pipes up saying his pet peeve in the league is that the "personality is beaten out of players" and goes on to echo lazerus's talking point that basically bedard is boring and full of cliches and is fearful that he always will be.
i try hard to give those 3 a chance but while i can take jay zawaski, boysen and tirabassi can really grate on me at times.
anyways, it starts about 4:40 in and ends about 10 minutes in.
to be fair, i agree that nhl players could be seen as boring compared to the other sports but to pick apart bedard this early in his pro career is bullshit.

He can bore me to death while he grows into a dominating perennial all star leading the Hawks, if not the league, in scoring and playoff appearances.
🥱 😆
