Yeah I have no problem with him wanting to be captain and in fact I think it speaks well of him. But, I have a mixed mind on what I think should or want to happen - I think mainly because I don't like the notion of reserving the captaincy for a player who hasn't played even one game in the NHL yet. I can't quite put my finger on it exactly - it just doesn't feel right to me. I agree with these sentiments. I believe Bedard should play a season first. There is enough pressure on him already without also being captain. He seems to be very deferential to those who have had NHL experience and I believe it potentially puts him in an awkward position with some of the veterans. I think he wants to earn everything rather than it be handed to him. It's funny how he's mentioned how he needs to make the team. Very humble young man. I think he'll play past 9gms lol I like how they said they aren't naming a captain this year, they don't want anymore pressure on Bedard then what he puts on himself. |

I hope he has a desire to that sounds like a good thing. I have no issue with Jones desire to be a captain, as he says he has learned a lot from watching others and he could be very well a good captain. It just goes back this will be Bedard's team in a year or two and Hawks should follow the same process they did with Toews. Let Bedard play a year, get acclimated to the league, his teammates, the media, etc. and then place the C on the sweater. And considering Bedard won gold with 4 other prospects, all 4 could make the NHL this year or next, it only seems logical he should try and lead them to silver as the captain. |

I read a report where Nathan MacKinnon does not allow any fast food in the locker room or clubhouse area. This kid not only wants to make the team, but ultimately, he wants to be one of the best. That desire, work ethic, determination along with God given talent and ability will make him a great captain. |

I don't get that vibe from Seth Jones. just my 0.02... So if it comes out next year CB wants to be captain hes not the best Captain?? Think everyone is reading way to much into this CB has been giving every indication he wants this to be about team someone steps up and he is shit on here. Seth knows what this kid is in for he is trying to help just my 2 cents. Everyone points to McD so we are ok being the Oil? I really have no dog in this fight. Im fine with them going 3 As for 3 years then giving it to CB. But I do like the veteran stepping up and not deferring to the 18 year old. Now back to the Conner Bedard thread 37 days til I see this stud live cant wait!!!!!! |

Seth would be the natural choice for captain and Bedard is a bit young yet. I think JT was 20 if I’m not mistaken. Bedard would probably be fine with Seth as captain - at least for a couple of seasons. But as others have said, how do you change it later without “demoting” Seth? No captain this coming year. Run with 3 A's. They should do the same with Bedard as they did with Toews. Cycle the A's his rookie year and if he steps up give him the C after his rookie campaign. We didn't have Lang, Havlat, Lapointe, or Ruutu wear the C In Toews rookie year, so no need for Seth to wear it. |

This kid is so well grounded, humble like you say, never has eaten fast food (McDonalds,etc.), just shows how much he cares and understands how/why the body/nutrition is important to allow you to play at an elite level. I read a report where Nathan MacKinnon does not allow any fast food in the locker room or clubhouse area. This kid not only wants to make the team, but ultimately, he wants to be one of the best. That desire, work ethic, determination along with God given talent and ability will make him a great captain. Strike, my fellow commies! I feel sorry for CB and having to field the same tedious questions over and over again. I know it’s expected of him but some of the questions are so repetitive it’s ridiculous. “Was there anything you could take away from your 20 minutes with Crosby?” “How does it feel to be part of the rookie camp?” Blah blah. Thankfully there’s some actual hockey coming which should bring some better (maybe) questions from the media.

Bedard was on 32 Thoughts with Elliot Friedman and he's definitely the future captain of the Blackhawks. He's so humble and personable, perfect role model.
And the videos of him at practice are fun to watch. It's funny how almost everyone is watching him, one player almost broke an ankle in one drill, couldn't tell who it was though.

Fast food, or not, I am certainly looking forward to seeing how well CB plays against the best in the world. There will be a learning curve as the juniors scene will be gone. I wish him the best. In addition, there is the problem of requiring a lot of help from his team in order to let his talents develop as much as possible. Hopefully, some of the additions this past off-season will help him along that road. Needless to say, there will be a lot of interesting developments occurring this season in the CB saga. |

Does anyone know of a site that has the box score? i looked earlier for the boxscore with zero results. i messaged the guy that posted bedard's numbers and if he passes it on to me i will do the same to you. i got a feeling people are just watching the game and counting on their own but i may be wrong. but these rookie tourneys usually have pretty sketchy stats. |

He could have pumped his chest, just shows how much respect he has for the game and how much he loves to play. As we have said grounded, humble kid and one that will be fun to watch.

My wife worked with a someone who was in Michael Jordan's coterie of "hey, MJ wants to play a pickup game so get to ____ gym at __am on Sunday" guys. He did not play in this one () but he heard Michael rave about "the man" from Ohio in subsequent games. Greats likely can eye and appreciate young and up-coming talent so CB's participation at Biosteel was impressive in that sense for me. Yes, it is too early to anoint CB as the future Hawk GOAT, but if the still scant record upon which we judge stays at or near the pace he's already set, we're not looking at Ken Yaremchuk, Part II, nor a Christian Laettner to bring back the basketball reference. Until camp starts and games get going, it's all I got. |
