Tell the truth, I was a Betty fan until Rosie wrecked it for me. Rosie of the Jetson's? Nope, Rosie of “The View”, who played Betty in the live action Flintstones movie, that killed my cartoon brunette housewife fantasy.

Ah - the obnoxious Rosie O’Donnell. Never did understand what made her popular.

fuck.
RIP Gord.
apparently not gordon's dog but it belonged to someone who toured with him and the dog always accompanied them on their tours.
edit: my current favorite gordon lightfoot song but next month it most likely will change.

This guy is unbelievable! He can fingerpick like Doc Watson, can play fast like Alvin Lee, and pretty damn good singer too! Thanks for sharing this. I see he’s coming to Northerly Island this summer - wish it were at the NOW arena!

so, when I saw the first post ya made about him, I thought "I know that name" and then I got into something and forgot about it... I saw the second post here today and remembered that I needed to check into it and sure enough, I was right. my sis is pals with greensky bluegrass and she mentioned this guy to me years ago, as he has played with them many many times (and still does). she met him a few times @ Bells years ago when he was much younger. very humble and friendly, she says! I liked this one a lot! m.youtube.com/watch?v=aQZq0nRL05E

Jim Brown - one tough SOB. before my time but pretty much everyone knows the legend. listening to my daily news broadcast on YT this morning, i was surprised when they said he excelled at lacrosse in college and may have been the game's best player ever.

RIP mr. tony bennett.
born anthony dominick benedetto in 1926 and over 70 years in the entertainment business. survived the front lines as an infantryman in WWII so all in all he ran a pretty good race.
i've got 3 or 4 of his CDs in the car that have found their way to the back of the pack. going to have to give them a spin next time we drive somewhere.
this song by him ranks as my favorite go-to karaoke song, i think he does it better though. he had a voice like soft butter. mine is more like government issue margarine.
edit: his last concert was on his 95th birthday in august of 2021 with lady gaga, he was well into his alzheimer's illness which was first diagnosed in 2016. about 1:20 in i'd be thinking it might be a mistake to put him on stage but when the curtain rises at 1:40 you know it'll be alright.
talk about going out in style...

Robbie Robertson at 80. I wasn’t a huge Band fan but liked them well enough. A friend of mine, Pete Special, filled in when Robbie Robertson left "The Band" briefly. Pete also had several R&B bands in Chicago, including Big Twist and the Mellow Fellows and The Pete Special Band.
Around Christmas 1999, Pete brought me to a Christmas party and introduced me to Rick Danko, another founding member of The Band. Just a few weeks after meeting him, 0n December 10th, 1999, Rick passed away of heart failure in his sleep at the age of 55.
I really didn't know too much about The Band before then, but I did know some of their songs which I really enjoy. So many great bands back then.
RIP Robbie Robertson

One Million Years B.C. One of the first movies I saw in a theatre. Every generation has their fantasy icon and this was mine, even though I’m not sure I was even old enough yet to understand why she affected me like she did. Same with Ann Margret. have you seen CC Rider with Joe Namath and Ann Margaret? Her coming out of the pond? Every teenager dream !!!!

Thank God for Apple music!!! I've given my vinyl, tapes and CD's a rest. To just pull up everything for $9.99 a month is well worth the price. The music I pull up from Tony Bennett to Dean Martin to Paul Anka to Frank Sinatra then Glenn Miller or Tommy Dorsey...Louie Armstrong or Etta James George Clinton and Parliament? Just can't beat it as MJ would say. Bluetooth made so much difference as to how I listen to music. Will never be as good as my turntable and vinyl but I can't take them with me.

R.I.P. Jimmy Buffett. Evidently a form of lymphoma originating from skin cancer. . . Saw him once in Tinley Park - maybe 15 years ago. First time I saw him was around 1999. Really didn't know much about him. But once I saw him, I never missed another Chicagoland concert again! It's somewhat apropos he passed on Labor Day weekend, as he used that as the opening of his song Come Monday. This one hurts as much as any celebrity death in my lifetime. RIP Jimmy, you can now truly have a cheeseburger...in paradise
