In all honesty I wouldn't mind seein' Edzo or Cheli BEHIND the bench. Edzo knows the game as well as a guy can(like him or not)and often calls TO's before a coach does(and Pat'll make sure we know it!LOL!) and Cheli probably has the chops to walk right into the job too. Edzo has a thousand games under his belt and Cheli has what......a million?
This might be the most important decision(new president)Blackhawk ownership has had to make since they let the Golden Jet walk!

Now, I don’t want to see our Hawks turn into the stupidly run Habs, they will only take French speaking guys to which totally lessens their talent pool to 2-3 guys total. And half of them will have jobs. But even if they made Edzo President, and maybe it’s time to purge MacIssac and put in Cheli as Senior Vice President? Then shtcan Stan with his kid who’s coach. And go out and get the Haunters. They’ll rebuild this thing and have the cupboards full in 2-3 years. It’s the only way to go. Holding on to the “dream” will only prolong the nightmare. I don’t mind hanging on to Kane and Toews maybe even Keith. But the rest should be traded out at first light. During a rebuilding phase. We can be smart and purge good young talent with our cap space too. This is why it’s genius to trade Saad now. Not because he’s not a good player, it’s because many teams on the cusp couple use him. We could retain half his salary and trade him to Boston, Tampa, Dallas, Edmonton, Toronta, Van etc. I’d think with salary retention, we could get a first and a decent prospect. I think for Maatta we could get a 3rd. Try and parlay our 9th overall and the other first rounder (say 25th or so) into a top five pick and get a very good player like Drysdale or Perfetti or even a Jake Sanderson who’s the best dman out of the US. Either way, we need a good judge of talent at the top end. A new GM is needed to make these decisions. A couple other quick draft notes to throw in. Jean Luc Foudy (from my Spitfires) is the fastest kid in the draft. If he learns to use his speed and skill at the same time, he’ll be an amazing NHLer. Also, Jacob Perreault (son of Yannick Perreault) could be a sleeper in the late first round. I’m a strong believer of the “pedigree” and he has this. He scored 37 goals as a 17 year old for Sarnia Sting. He’s a decent size at 5’11” 200. Foudy is 6’ 175. So both not huge but they can handle the rigours of hockey!!! |

I wouldn't mind Burke as the President, he's a tough no bs straight shooter who's a real hockey guy. A couple names I heard that are intriguing for President is Bob Murray and Doug Wilson, well respected former Hawk legends. These are names that will bring the right type of hockey back to Chicago. Burke is a great American mind. And I think he really has a lot to offer a team as President. I believe he’s comfy with his life in Toronta now. I will probably take a back seat as a fan and just let it play out. If that article holds any credence, then McD probably wanted Stan gone, and the Bowman’s said no way. I could be wrong, though. regardless, with the way things are shaking out this season, Stan and Co handling the draft shouldn't be much of a surprise. doesn't mean he still can't be fired. lest we forget that Dale Tallon not only drafted but also signed free agents before he was out maneuvered for the GM position.... errr, let go..... |

I was wondering that as well, especially after hearing Kelley before last summers draft, he said he wants to get bigger, skilled, character guys, maybe the previous drafts and trades McD had too much say and wanted faster small guys. Bowman still needs to go but it's good McD is gone atleast. |

I doubt it too, but wouldn't that be something?!? It would explain a lot. But I’m still not sold on Stan. His trades just don’t add up. If McD was falling the shots all these years, I’d have to think Rocky is a fool for allowing it, and I highly doubt Scotty let’s his son get treated like that for that long. If Stan stays, I don’t see how that’s even feasible. But if he does stay, we need to see instant results, cuz Stan hasn’t done much at all with this team. So I’d like to see real hockey moves made, but I doubt he gets smart overnight!!! |
