I thought I'd post Erie highlights since Ty Henry likely won't be in a whole of them this season. Even though I've read he's a good sized defensive dman, I hope he develops more offense this year. Isn't he real close to last year's point total already? Misiak's goal starts about :32; Henry's and Misiak's assists start about 1:34. chl.ca/ohl/gamecentre/27399/

He reminds me of Phillips in size and athletic ability, he's a raw 7th rounder but he looked good at the Kurvers Showcase and training camp.

How often does this happen. Denver played Northeastern on Fri. and Sat. night. Denver won both games by the identical score, 5-2. Denver scored the first goal of the game in both games, both in period 1. The same player, Carter King, scored both of the opening goals. The same player, Aidan Thompson, had both primary assists on each opening game goal. The same player, Jack Devine, had both second assists.
Aidan Thompson had four assists in Sat.'s game, and ended up with five assists for the two game series.

That worked. Lardis could be the biggest steal in his draft, he's playing like a first rounder and not a third.

That worked. Lardis could be the biggest steal in his draft, he's playing like a first rounder and not a third. You just know everyone in the Hawks org. is pulling for him since goal scoring is hard to come by and that's what Lardis does. I saw him listed as 185 in hockeydb; would that be close to his current weight? I tend to wonder when a listed weight ends with a either a 0 or a 5.

Lardis himself said he's in the mid 180s, he might've fallen in the draft because he was in the 160s. But even the guys at Sportsnet on draft day said he should've went in the 2nd round. The second half of his draft year was impressive after he was traded, 25g-21a in 33gms, then 5g-5a in 6 playoff games. Definitely should've went in the 2nd round. And considering we need guys who can finish, besides Bedard, we should be pulling for him.

Otters lost 3-1, Henry with a primary assist on the only goal. 5a in 8gms.
And Erie has him listed at 6'4" 210lbs. EliteProspects has him listed at 6'3" but in their report it says the 6'4" dman brings NHL caliber skating.

Here is Ty Henry's assist. He made this one look good. He played more like a forward on this play. Start about 2:01 - 2:02, when the Erie player with the puck crosses the blue line. Keep your eye on Henry; he's the Otter at the top of the screen heading towards the net. His pass happens quickly. chl.ca/ohl/gamecentre/27403/

That shift he showed some good awareness, hands, speed, and reach.

His athletic abilities show up in his skating. I haven't been able to find the article again, assuming I was remembering right. But it sticks in my mind about reading how good of an athlete he was as a hockey player, and that he was considered raw and would need time to develop. I'd say with the D prospects the Blackhawks currently have on the team and in the system, they can take their time with Henry. And hope his athletic abilities will help him develop into a NHL level dman.

The Hawks scouts saw him a lot because of his teammate, Misiak, so they saw something. His seven assists could be great for the Hawks, like Del Mastro, but for Ty to fall to the 7th round seems strange considering his size and athletic abilities.

In doing some looking around on Flashscore KHL, it appears Roman Kansterov is back on the ice. Manitogorsk played yesterday and Kansterov got the second assist on their first goal. In the three previous games, he didn't show up anywhere in their lineup, but showed up as the RW on the top line in yesterday's game. I'm guessing maybe it was his first game back?
I wonder if he'll play on the top line this year after stepping up in the playoffs last season?

This will have Kansterov's assist. Kansterov's pass to #16 in front of the net was what started everything. Start at :47. You'll see Kansterov flash into the picture at the left on the first replay. You'll see him more in the second look, and in the slo-mo replay. video.khl.ru/quotes/1608143/?locale=ru

For a first game back I thought he looked as good as ever with the 200' game - engaged all over the ice.

Is Kaiser still considered a prospect? I'll assume so and drop this here - through 7 games, in my opinion Kaiser is the Hawks' best d-man, and that includes Vlassic who I still think is very good but seems to be a little more iffy on some plays than he was last season.
Additionally, we know Jones sucks as a PP-QB and the little we've seen from Vlassic in that role doesn't give me hope he is the answer either - therefore - I would like to see Kaiser given a chance at PP-QB. He's the best stater of the bunch and he's a very good passer. At this point the only reason to not give that a try is LR doesn't want to hurt Jones' feelings and I say to hell with that.

I liked your comment that Kansterov was engaged all over the ice. I think that was a consistent comment about his play last season.

I ran into someone who complimented my Hawks toque and said his cousin was drafted by them, I asked who and he said I might not know him, Taige Harding. I said 3rd rounder playing in Providence who's 6'7" 236lbs, plus he was the captain of my hometown team, the OilBarons, yeah I've heard of him lol
Someone overheard us talking and said he watched him play in St Albert and he really liked him.
He'll be turning pro next year, Rockford fans are gonna like him.

"oh yeah" i says. forget what city...but he was from ontario. turns out he was lifelong friends with mike keenan, went to university with him, partied and smoked weed with him too he said. his wife showed me a picture on her phone taken recently at their cabin on some lake in ontariio. it was definitely keenan. in that photo he was pretty much bald. and it was definitely the guy's thai wife in the pic with him so the story was legit, not that i doubted it. i can't recall why they happened to be in our town but i'm guessing his wife had family in the area, that's why they ended up at our shop. i just found it pretty amazing that by chance i had to run into a mate of mike keenan in our little shop a long ways from any touristy place here in thailand. might not have happened if i wasn't wearing that shirt. small world sometimes.

Spellacy with 2 primary assists last night in a 7-5 win. He was also +2 and was 7/14 at faceoffs.
Misiak had a primary assist in a 2-1 win.
Both guys have 8pts in 8gms.

Two juniors not known for offense each had an assist tonight; Henry and Pharand.

One thing I'm curious about with Henry: Since he now has a year of experience under his belt, it made me wonder; Is he trying to be more involved on offense this season? I know it's still early but 7 assists in 11 games would suggest maybe he's trying to do more on the offensive part. I remember the assist he had in the video posted back on Oct. 21 wasn't the typical dman assist. I recall he looked like a forward on that play when he headed to the net. With the way he can skate, it would be good for him if he could develop some offense in his game.

Dominic James had 2 g's (#'s 3 and 4) and a p assist. Adam Gajan stopped 16 of 17 shots. I think there should probably be an asterisk by this game. UMD played Stonehill, which sounds more like the name of a winery. They were 2-34 last year, though they were 2-3 going into last night's game. UMD outshot Stonehill 43-17, although it was 2-1 for a few minutes in the early 2nd.
His first goal was a good one. The whole play starts about 1:01. The second goal starts about 3:06. His assist was good one too; it starts about 4:15.
