Eisbaren lost their first semifinal game against ERC Ingolstadt, 4-3. No points from Reichel. The game was 4-2 after an ERC goal in the first minute of the 3rd; Eisbaren did get one goal early in the 3rd but couldn't tie it up.
Shots favored Eisbaren 40-30; faceoffs favored Eisbaren 35-27. ERC won the game with power play goals; they were 2/3 while Eisbaren was 0/4. What turned out to be the game winning goal was a pp goal and ERC's first goal of the game, scored in the 1st, was scored while Reichel was in the penalty box serving a 4 minute high sticking penalty. Reichel centered the top line. Eisbaren now has to win 3 of the next four. The only good thing for Eisbaren fans is they did get to hear the Can-Can three times.

Just picked up the latest Hockey News Future Watch issue. It isn’t very kind to our prospects pipeline. The only Blackhawk pick in the top 100 is Lukas Reichel at #31. Yet using their handicap system the franchise itself is ranked 11th for graduating Dach, Boqvist, Beaudin and Kurashev. etc. Now whether we think that grad class is real NHL quality or not is another question.

I know some here want to say Boqvist is a bust already, but he is still too young, imo. he certainly doesn't seem to be ontrack to take over as a #1 dman here soon, but I'm not ready to call him a bust just yet. the other 3 all look like they could be contributors to me, but they are also all still too young (imo). as far as us having one in the top 100... can't say I am surprised. hopefully we'll have at least 2 next year...

Watching the Canada vs Latvia game. I gotta give credit here to Latvia. It’s 3-2 for Canada with 5 mins left in the game. The Latvians have a big team and have played very physical.
Canada although playing on back to back nights and Shane Wright was held out for precautionary reasons, not Covid related. So kinda tired and short handed. The shots were 18-4 after the 1st. 48-24 now. Canada dominated the first half of the game. But you can see fatigue setting in.
The Latvian tender Mezsargs looks pretty good. Brandt Clarke is one hell of a dman for Canada. If anyone gets a chance to watch the under 18s, I suggest you do. These kids will be drafted in a few months. Connor Bedard is the real deal. 15 years old and he looks like one of the best players at all times. Kid is absolutely unreal. Good hockey to watch here!!!

Terrible play by Latvia. They were looking to pull the goalie, but before he even left his crease, the 6th guy jumped on. They got too many men and Canada scored on the pp to make it 4-2. Maybe Latvia doesn’t get many chances to pull their goalie? It looked awful at best. But a great game they played. Especially after Canada killed Sweden last night 12-1!!!

Bedard as a raw 15 year old only got to play in 15 games for Regina in the WHL. Kid had 12 goals 16 assists for 28 points in 15 games. That’s tough for a 19 year old. He’s the 3rd 15 year old to play for Canada at this tourney. Tavares, McDavid and Bedard. That’s pretty impressive!!!

Ya, I have to think Bedard will grow at least another inch. Maybe 2-3!!!

That is one stout young man. Pretty important tourney for guys like Guenther and Brandt. Hawks have to move up somehow from their middling spot.

Eisbaren tied up their series with ERC, 3-2. Reichel had a primary assist on their first goal. The game got off to a rather inauspicious start for Eisbaren; ERC scored within the first minute of the 1st pd., at the :57 sec. mark. Reichel assisted on the tying goal at the 9:06 mark in the 1st. The lineup showed Reichel as the C on Line 2. Eisbaren had to come from behind twice to win the game. Shots favored Eisbaren, 30-20; faceoffs slightly favored ERC, 31-30. Penalty killing was 3/3 for Eisbaren; ERC was 5/6. The dman was at the left point with the puck and Reichel came out towards the dman and stops at the inside edge of the face off circle. You can see Reichel put his stick on the ice and deflect the puck on net and the goal scorer puts in a loose puck. That's what it appears happens; the puck is hard to follow starting with Reichel's deflection until you see it in the crease. www.scoreboard.com/game/hEayu8jE/#video

How'd he do in faceoffs? He was drafted as a LWer so it's interesting he's been used as the 1 and 2 center, plus some wing time. I thought, great another small player the Hawks drafted but he was one of the youngest in his class and 6' 170's, not great but not bad, but then he said he added 15lbs of muscle and he was 186lbs before the season started, plus his older brother is 6'3" 👍 With his high IQ he might be playing in the NHL next season, if not, hopefully he plays in Rockford.

^^ OTH, I haven't been able to find individual faceoff stats, but I'm going to dig around further to see if I find any. I'm curious too how Reichel has been at fo's, since he plays C a fair amount of the time. I agree, it's nice to see him playing in the top 6, and especially in the playoffs.

I was looking at Wiki about DEL playoffs this season and according to what I read, all playoff series are a best of three. So I was mistaken about the semifinal being a best of five.
All this means Eisbaren has advanced to the finals. They defeated ERC 4-2 earlier today which means Eisbaren has won their semi final series 2 games to one over ERC. The DEL site has the brackets filled in and shows Eisbaren and Grizzlys Wolfsburg as meeting in the finals. Wolfsburg was the #3 seed in Eisbaren's division; they finished the regular season with 58 points. That's 18 pts. behind Eisbaren; however in the semi finals they eliminated Adler Mannheim who was the #1 team in the entire league in the regular season. They're now in the finals and it's only a best of three so Eisbaren better be ready.
As for Eisbaren's 4-2 win over ERC. The game was a shooting gallery; shots were 48-44 in favor of ERC. No points from Reichel. He played center on Line 2. Faceoffs slightly favored ERC, 35-33. Eisbaren was 0/5 on the PP, ERC was 1/6. Eisbaren fell behind again. ERC scored 2 goals early in the 2nd, then Eisbaren scored twice a while later in the 2nd, so the 2nd period ended 2-2. Then Eisbaren scored twice in the third and held ERC scoreless.

Eisbaren lost their opening game in the finals 3-2 in OT, to Wolfsburg; so the next game is a must win. Their OT's are 5 on 5. No points from Reichel. He played C on Line 1. Shots were identical, 43-43. Each team had a PP goal. Faceoffs (they call them 'bully') were 40-37 in Eisbaren's favor.
Eisbaren fell behind again. They fell behind twice but did tie it up, although they didn't tie it to send the game into OT until 38 seconds to go in the game. This is the third game in a row Eisbaren has fallen behind in games. They did win the other two but in the playoffs Wolfsburg is playing better than ERC.
I've searched some more but I cannot find individual player faceoff stats for the DEL. You would think they would keep FO stats but if they do, they make them difficult to find.

He was drafted as a LWer so hopefully that's what he plays in North America.

I had tried Elite Prospects but it was basic stats. It doesn't appear he's great on faceoffs, but I think OTH was right in that the Hawks view Reichel as a LW at the NHL level.

Eisbaren tied up their series against the Wolfsburg Grizzlys with a 4-1 win. Reichel scored an empty net goal. He stole the puck about center ice and fired it into the net. It looks like the puck carrier lost the handle just as Reichel was closing in and Reichel was able to get his stick in and get the puck. Shots favored Wolfsburg 27-25. Wolfsburg was 1/2 on the PP; Eisbaren was 0/1. Faceoffs favored Wolfsburg 33-27. However, the most important stat favored Eisbaren. This time, Eisbaren didn't fall behind, They scored first and were leading 3-0 until Wolfsburg scored their lone goal late in the 2nd. Reichel played C on Line 1. This means an 18 yr. old is centering the Polar Bears top line in the finals, so far. www.scoreboard.com/game/MZfSA48R/#video

Connor Bedard lights it up and Canada is in the final against Russia. Couldn’t set it up better. Bedard and Wright against Michkov and Chibrikov. Hopefully one, better two, of those guys slips a Hawk sweater on some day. A must watch game.

This popped up again. I think it was probably originally posted preseason. Knowing what we know now having seen most of these guys play, how accurate was it?
