i thought this was kind of cool. you get some good looks at reichel here and also you sort of see what KCS's job entails as player development coach.

Thanks for posting the video, GT. It was interesting to watch KCS's part in this. She mentions a few of the same things that some scouting reports do; such as Reichel liking to go to the net and reading plays. I have read one scouting report that said he's good at reading the flow of a play and he knows where his linemates are.

Icehogs have re-signed Osipov, coach King really likes how he plays and he can see him getting an NHL contract one day, maybe not with Chicago but he could be a good depth dman for someone.
Familiarity on the blueline is a good thing and it'll help the Hogs.

Nice tilt in that vid 👊 Since he started playing for Rockford his skating has improved a lot and like King said, his play with the puck is improving. Osipov is 24 now so this is a big season coming up, he said he's going to focus on his strengths and be a leader and get the Hogs in the playoffs. Maybe when he's 25 he'll be ready to be a #7 guy. And I thought the same thing about Moberg, hopefully he signs with the Hogs, it'd be a smart move for him to stay in the system considering they don't have a lot of offensive right handed dman, especially one that's 6'3"

Moberg is a guy that has the tools but unless the Hawks feel he's already totally maxxed out and has nowhere to go but downwards, staying in the system would be a good move for him. I know as fans we like to see these guys look good right away, but maybe Moberg is just a bit slower developer? if I remember right, he played a couple of seasons on a pretty bad junior team?

But as a 20yr old he just played his first pro season and from the highlights and game notes he seemed to progress as the season went on, he scored his first goal and had an assist the final two games. He'll mostly likely sign with the Hogs, if not, he was a 7th round pick so no huge loss.

I was hoping Moberg could have been traded out to a good team in his last junior season just to see how he’d show on a contender, but Covid screwed everything up. So if the junior leagues get going again I’m guessing guys like Philips go back. Maybe Krutil goes back to Europe but with no taxi squad and the Galvas signing, there’s probably still lots of defensemen vying for spots in Rockford.

Not a fan of seeing 27 on anyone after JR, especially a small dman, I think his name was Adam 🤷♂️ But I'm a fan of Reichels and hope he brings honor to the 27 🤞

I started watching hockey and liking the Hawks in 84 when I was 7, so I vaguely remember him as a Hawk. Definitely remember Roenick and his gritty style and 50 goal seasons. I thought players could pick their numbers but it seems like young guys in Chicago are given numbers. Heard interviews when players said they were given it, not picked. Don't quote me on this but I think Ben Smith was asked about 28, he never picked it. But yes I'd pick an obscure number as well.

In this case, he probably had a choice. It’s the summer and not a call up. Zenon Konopka got called up for Anaheim way back in the day. The trainer gave him number 66 to wear. He said that he told one of the guys he knew on the team to go tell him to switch the “fuckin number”. Cuz he wasn’t goin out there in his first game and wearing Lemieux’s number in his first game. Funny interview that was. That must of been tough on the guy, and what trainer would give a fighter that number? Hahaha!!!

With two NCAA seasons under his belt at BU,would we rather see the 20yro Vlasic at Rockford next season or one more at BU since his second BU season was only 16 games due to covid? I'd like to see the big kid at the Rock myself.

When I joined a mens league a few years ago here in Edmonton I had to choose between 99 and 11, both are sacred in Edmonton but hell no am I taking 99 lol plus I'm more like Mess than Gretz. If I played D still it'd be 4, but not for Bobby. Konopka is far from worthy of the 66 lol what was the trainer thinking. And if Reichel did have a choice, I wonder if he knows about JR and what 27 means in Chicago? Big shoes to fill, the last 27 failed.

I'd like to see the big kid at the Rock myself. Normally I would agree but let the kid get his degree in whatever field he is studying. Then a couple yrs at the Rock would to hopefully learn the physical part of the game. At 20 yrs old he has plenty of time before he gets to the big show.

I'm surprised Osipov is there, he's been with the Hogs for a while now and turns 25 next month. Reichel, Allan, and C.Dach will be there, plus a couple guys who had a taste last season, Hardman and Regula. It'll be fun watching some hockey this weekend 👍

names (and numbers) of the prospect's playing in minnesota this weekend. no biggie, but not sure why osipov is listed as a forward.
Forwards (14)

79 - D.J. Busdeker**
28 - Colton Dach*
15 - Carson Gicewicz**
86 - Mike Hardman
34 - Kale Howarth**
25 - Jalen Luypen*
56 - Dmitri Osipov**
59 - Jakub Pour
27 - Lukas Reichel
36 - Josiah Slavin
53 - Michal Teply
54 - Chad Yetman**
Defensemen (7)
42 - Nolan Allan*
46 - Louis Crevier*
62 - Ethan del Mastro*
76 - Jakub Galvas
63 - Michael Krutil**
41 - Isaak Phillips

Goalies (3)
80 - Tom Aubrun**
31 - Cale Morris**
40 - Arvid Soderblom
* - Blackhawks draft pick
** - AHL-contracted player
edit: weights and measures below. i can't believe reichel is still 170. like has been said....how hard would it be to get a guy's weight updated once in a while? and eyeballing that list, there's a lot more +200 pounders than i recall in previous prospect pools. more whales, less shrimp is a good thing.

On the NHL site they didn't have a lot of those players. Didn't see Crevier, Del Mastro, Galvis, Soderblom, Haworth, or Barratt. It'll be interesting to see big Crevier and Del on D. And Osipov listed as a forward, maybe he's being Buffed lol stick the big guy in front of the net. And yes what's up with Reichel only being 170 still when he added well over 10 before last season. And Crevier is listed at 6'8" but the NHL site says he's 6', not even close.

On D I'd like to see countrymen Krutil and Galvas together, Allan- Regula, Crevier-Phillips, Regs and Phil can focus more on offense with those D partners. Del Mastro should get shifts with Allan and Phillips.
Galvas is the only D man under 6', 5'11", nice seeing bigger guys back there.
But Galvas plays stronger than his slight stature and played pro hockey with his dad as a teenager before his dad retired in 2017. Turned 22 a few months ago and has lots of pro hockey under his belt.

Yeah he's not going to add much more weight at 22, but he's a smart defensive dman who knows how to use his speed. I only watched him when he was at the world Juniors and despite his weight he plays more of a stay at home style. But at least he's almost 6'. He'll add more depth to Rockford. The rest of the dmen are big boys, Krutil at the world Juniors really reminded me of Seabs when he played there, both 6'3" righties who play a smart defensive game, blocks shots and hits, plus he's calm with the puck and makes smart plays. Plus he was 18 last season playing pro hockey right after his draft and didn't look out of place. 6'8" Crevier is the guy I'm most interested in seeing back there, from the vids I watched he's a good skater and uses his size really well. And Phillips was the Icehogs rookie of the year, another guy playing pro right after his draft, only because of the pandemic, 6'3" athletic kid with a bright future. His play earned him an ELC with Chicago, first one signed from last years draft.

osipov on the starting line beside lukas reichel. it dawned on me why osipov is dressed as a forward when he'ss a d-man in rockford. i think he's there in a protective role. maybe losing 3 or4 players in one game at the traverse city tourney is still haunting the hawks.
