I can't even get excited about the pick, although, bob mac and burkie like it that's good enough for me.

You noticed the kid who made the pick didn't even want to show the players name on the jersey

I was just thinking about where I'm at with sports as time marches on...
I no longer want, at all, a protracted, sluggish, probably-won't-even-happen rebuild.
To me, that's what picks like this represent.

I just can't anymore. I hate Stan. I don't think I can support this team anymore until he is gone. I can't not support them, but I am beyond done with Bowman. always has to be the smartest guy in the room....

To me, that's what picks like this represent. Scambo is just holding on. Nothing more. His legacy is getting worse by the day. If he lasts this next 4 years, he will go down as the worst GM in the history of the world!!!

A kid like Lapierre would have been a sound roll of the dice who had a chance to be something special and would, to me, have made more sense for a team that has Kane and Toews in their prime for what, two to three years?

That's because Kelly is a smart man, I'm not worried about the pick , who ever he takes will be the best that's left, My worry is what Stan does with the pick afterwards, that scares the hell out of me. I hope they go to the Q and pick the newfie, Dawson Mercer, just hope he is still there at 17 Mercer is not even a point per game player in Jrs. What makes you think that he’s gonna be a star in the NHL? Honest question. Maybe you know something very one else doesn’t!!! I've seen him play, he's a good 200 ft player, big hits, plays hard , smart with the puck and skates well, top 6 nhl player, and can play right wing , Ah last 2 years he was over a point a game player \

So a big, mean defenseman who takes pride in maintaining order in his own end first was not a need for the Hawks???

The next big deep draft is looking to be 2022. Hawks should seriously suck by then so we’ll have a shot at Shane Wright or one of the other big two they’re talking about.

welp, I admittedly wasn't uber familiar with our pick, but he looks to be one of those late risers. he might end up being good. I would have rather rolled the dice with Lapierre, personally. o well.

Calgary putting on a clinic on how to trade down and add picks...... one would think another franchise we are all familiar with here could've done the same....

They don't quite suck enough! They're in the mediocre-ish category that can't possibly seriously compete for a Cup and can't possibly get a first or second or third pick unless the Lottery treats them extremely well. You can't count on the Lottery.

Looked a bit at Reichel. He's 6ft which isn't bad, but he's just 170lbs. and that's with strong legs. So, he's got some benchpressing to do big time, especially since he seems to be an around-the-net player.
Still, whatever he turns out to be, we all just know Stan could have traded down to get him, but wouldn't or couldn't.

Innumerable posters have agreed that the middle ground is no place to be.

I guess Reichel is doing a zoom conference call from Germany and said "I'm not the biggest guy or the strongest guy, but I'm smart and I like to shoot"
well, being smart REALLY is what you want in a NHL player... oh and he's going to have a lot of trouble finding openings to shoot the puck
well done, Stan... very well done

Maybe it shouldn't matter, but it's important to me to analyze about where other teams would have taken the guy you wound up taking. I have yet to find any ranking that has Reichel as less than 30th.
Great value Stan...
P.S. You could probably find a job as a GM for the Chicago Bears.

Great value Stan... central scouting had him #11 but that was among european skaters. elite prospects had him at #43. future considerations at #33. ISS hockey at #31. craig button at #33. bob mackenzie at #20.

Oh, let's give the boys a chance to fail before we all pile up on him. Didn't he play in the German elite league against grown men? That's gotta be worth something.
Maybe in the second round the Hawks will draft a new GM and make everyone here happy.

is fast. goes to the front of the net. does a lot of things good, but isn't great at anything. works hard, good on the boards. decent shot, shooting pct is high cuz he usually is scoring in close. not great hands as far as pass receptions. willing to work in the defensive end.
sounds like he is a good, middle six guy. maybe. if he develops, MAYBE he is top 6. I'm guessing a bottom 6 guy for the Blackhawks.

They like his skating, and nose for the net, and the ability to score and make shots in tight to the net. Also commented on his versatility.
