before you have too many drinks, do you recall what it was they said about him? i couldn't find the draft even on the dodgiest of websites this year. They like his skating, and nose for the net, and the ability to score and make shots in tight to the net. Also commented on his versatility. thnx mate.

I like that he knows he needs a little seasoning, but also plans on being over here soon.

Oh, let's give the boys a chance to fail before we all pile up on him. Didn't he play in the German elite league against grown men? That's gotta be worth something. Maybe in the second round the Hawks will draft a new GM and make everyone here happy. Wait a minute! I don't think any of us think this is in any way on Reichel. It's not Reichel's fault whatsoever, of course! It's just the way of Stan. He's just not our man. If he had held his own much more over recent years, and then made such a counter-value pick, then he gets my (our?) benefit of the doubt. Go Lukas!

It just seems that once you get past the first 7 or 8 tops spots, the crystal ball becomes a little more opaque. At the same time, we'll see what happens next year, but I think Dach may turn out to be the best of his draft class.

Stan so deserves it and deep down you know it.

I will admit that when they announced it I was like: who? and then: what the fuckkkk?!!!! now that I’ve had time to digest it and look into the kid some more, i can understand taking a shot with him. of course, at first I am thinking "take the guy that could be a top line guy!". now I feel like a bit of a dingus for jumping all over the pick. kid sounds like he is a worker. I've seen relentless a lot in his evals. gotta like that. he really is striking me as the kind of third liner you want on your team, a guy that could step up and fill in in the top 6 if there is an injury, but otherwise could do well on a third line. my biggest complaint about the pick is that we took a guy that was almost universally looked at as a late first round/early second rounder. it really seems like we could have moved down a few spots and added another pick and still got him.

feel bad for the kid. he's putting on a brave face but you can tell he's super disappointed. kinda seemed like he is a Blackhawks fan, right? I have a hard time believing he didn't already know, though. no way he has all the hanging in the background and gets picked by someone else....

I know he was a Blackhawks fan growing up. just seems a little odd that you would want to have a video of you celebrating being chosen by any of the other 30 NHL teams while surrounded by Blackhawks sweaters.

Some more info on our new first rounder. I really didn’t like any of that. The best thing I heard is that he’s “still young and raw”. I guess it’s a wait and see with him. Hopefully Scambo is gone before he gets a chance to trade him or see him play!!!

a few more scraps and shavings... well...... guess they did really want Askarov. bummer that all the teams we tried to trade with were from the Central division.

Holloway got a text while he was sitting on the couch with his family. You could see him smile and show his mom or sister. Then he tried to stay still until it was totally official. So maybe the Hawks told him that if he’s there at 17 they’ll pick him? I think there was a few things goin on behind the scenes!!!

Hopefully Scambo is gone before he gets a chance to trade him or see him play!!! Seemed like a fair assessment and what you might be able to say about any player taken mid round and below. Better than some of these puffed up reports we get sometime. It was an unusual pick at an unusual time and now we have to see.

If so, there’s a couple of kids sitting there tonight with an unopened box of hats. Always a couple of sad and disappointed families come draft day.

sam colangelo is the one the hawks seem to have shown a lot of interest in. i'd be fine with that. 6 foot 2, 207 lbs.

Hawks are 15 deep into the round before they pick so most of the above will probably be gone. But if Mysak is there, I take him. Second or third line center option who kills penalties. Or O’Rourke, a steady well rounded defenceman who captained his team at 17. Or maybe my pet project, Martin Chromiak, a mirror image of Kubalik who played on one of the youngest top lines in junior with Shane Wright and Zayde Wisdom.
