lol! what's sad is I can see the nhl sweaters with adds all over them real soon given the current monetary issues.... I've feared it would happen for years now. Heck, they already show short McD's commercials between whistles now.

Heck, they already show short McD's commercials between whistles now. when they started putting adverts on the boards in the early '80s i don't recall what i thought about it....likely didn't give a monkeys arse. i look at old pre 1980 games now and the boards look weird to me with nothing on them. but when it comes to messing with the jerseys, like the majority the thought of it makes me sick. in this recently written article it says that the league could theoretically make 120 million in extra revenue by allowing adverts on the jerseys. i wonder what they would lose with plummeting jersey sales? or would a few years pass and new fans who didn't know any different start buying these obscenities? thehockeywriters.com/a-brief-history-of-rinkside-advertising/#:~:text=Starting%20with%20the%201978%2D79,rink%20board%20appeared%20in%201980.

Hopefully Lukas is a late bloomer and has a growth spurt because his brother is 21 and 6'3" 205lbs.
Being born in May he's one of the youngest players in the draft and he has good bloodlines with his dad being drafted by Edmonton in the early 90's and his uncle, Robert, played 830gms and had 630pts.
And like every pick I look for videos and scouting reports and he's a fast skilled player with high IQ and good work ethic.

When I saw the surname Reichel, this was my immediate question, whether he is somehow related to Robert Reichel, a legend of czech hockey, gold medal winner in Nagano '98. If he'll be of his uncle's sort, might be a good player. High hockey IQ and very competitive. Only time will tell. Let's see what other rounds will bring us.

Maybe it shouldn't matter, but it's important to me to analyze about where other teams would have taken the guy you wound up taking. I have yet to find any ranking that has Reichel as less than 30th. Great value Stan... P.S. You could probably find a job as a GM for the Chicago Bears. no Gig, no! Pace is pretty much Bowman already.. trying to make the sleeper pick, (see Trubisky and how thats playing out...) smartest man in the room, blah blah blah i will personally pay for a limo to take Bowman, Pace and Nagy out of town Friday, as soon as they are ripped apart by the Bucs.... booooooooooooooooooooooo

Is it just me, or did I not hear Stan Bowman’s name or quote once during this draft? Besides Gary saying Stan Bowman it’s your pick. I haven’t heard anything from him.
I only say this as I find all the front office change a little weird. Even the short video the Hawks put out about the draft Mark Kelley was the star of the show. Is this Kelley’s team now? He sure looked like he was running things. Maybe due to Scambo’s new contract that probably was snuck in there, I think maybe ownership has shuffled the chairs and Stan is more of an advisor to Mark Kelley now. I honestly don’t see how Kelley has become the star lately and the guy who’s quoted the most. This has never been before, and no other team has their head scout talk to the media this much. That’s the GMs job and Stan has always done this in the past. A wee bit weird here. I think Stan’s hands are tied now!!!

Coincidence they happen to have Hawk sweaters hanging from the beams? he said he was a hawks fan growing up. I'll bet he was thrilled when he got to play against the Hawks in that last preseason game last year.

I'm betting possibly with one of the 3rd round picks or maybe the 4th rounder, the Hawks will take a goalie. With only one young G prospect they have to get more into the system. At some point they have to take one. If they do, hopefully he doesn't become another young G they decide not to sign and let go a couple of years later.

I had a lot of interest in the last several drafts but just didn't feel it this year, maybe a bottom six forward who'll be ready in 2-3 years will excite once it sets in......it didn't.
Seems he doesn't take penalties,he won't need a talking to.

Regarding Lukas' lack of penalty minutes, Brian Burke said "if you can find a guy who hits and manages his penalty minutes, that's a gift".

L.A. is amassing a pretty good prospect pool. Kinda jealous seeing as they were championship contemporaries and seem to be doing their rebuild quickly and effectively.

I missed what happened to the Hawks 2nd round two pick they got for Gusty. it was a third rounder, but I haven't been able to find anything about it either. as of last night Edmonton still hadn't announced which year's pick they were giving Calgary....

Didn’t think they’d pick a goalie this early. Second ranked N.A. goalie.

I guess Drew Commesso is the Hawks consolation goalie prize after missing out on Askarov.
I agree; I didn't think they would take a G this early either. I wonder if we'll see a few more g's taken in the 2nd.

I'll be interested to read more about this kid, but our record of drafting goaltenders hasn't been too stellar the past few years. not sure how I feel about using our second rounder on him. hopefully he turns out as well as another second round 'tender we took about 17 years ago....

Agreed - see you mid-decade at best.

Teply was ranked #63 last year and fell to #105 to us. Maybe the young and talented Chromiak falls the same this year. Take the talent and trade for need and size later.
