Teply was ranked #63 last year and fell to #105 to us. Maybe the young and talented Chromiak falls the same this year. Take the talent and trade for need and size later. No Chromiak - Landon Slaggert: /photo/1

Would love to have another Slovak after a while in Hawks uniform. He maybe suffered from playing with Shane Wright. But he so reminded me of Kubalik, same number and everything, and one of the youngest in the draft.

He’ll be faster without all that advertising hanging all over him. L That advertising kills me. Not only does it look ridiculous to me, unless they're doing a close-up while not skating, there's no way anyone could read what the companies are on the sweaters and such. Almost always, it's just a miniature grotesque billboard moving too quickly to notice. It's just not anywhere near some golfer wearing a Nike cap.

Hawks draft a goalie...... They're working on making him a sweater. lol! I still think some "smartest guy in the room" GM is going to hire a walrus human to cover almost all, if not all, of the net.

I'll be interested to read more about this kid, but our record of drafting goaltenders hasn't been too stellar the past few years. not sure how I feel about using our second rounder on him. hopefully he turns out as well as another second round 'tender we took about 17 years ago.... CC was a 2nd rounder, but it took him a good while.

I guess I have no choice but believe Kelley when he says they went for "the best athlete available" in this draft when I keep seeing that the first four picks were all sooner or much sooner picks than predicted.

Room to improve- size and strength...shocker 🙄 How often has Swami Stan bellowed that the game has been changing to smaller, faster, and more skilled players? Nevertheless, teams like St. Louis and Vegas and others like them continue to make life miserable for teams with "smaller, faster, and 'more skilled'" players.

Blackhawks just drafted a D-Man in the 7th round who is listed at 6-foot-7 and 212 pounds
1) finally some size (though 7th rounder so longshot to ever make NHL)
2) I didn't know that height and weight combo was actually possible, he must be a literal toothpick
PS yes, Happy Birthday Gig!

I just checked him out on DB, and he’s listed as 6’8” 216. Could be a project player that comes to life in a few years. Bigger guys do take longer!!!

Also Crevier is 19 so he was passed over last year. So is 5th rounder Issack Phillips and Chad Yetman is 20. So they’re looking for guys that have already been passed over? Why do they always seem to do weird things for drafting? First it was all American a kids going to the NCAA. Then it was anyone small, now it’s players that have been passed on!!!

I don't know if this has already been discussed cause I didn't go back to check but apparently the goalie they drafted is a huge Bruins fan and said somewhere he's going to have to learn to love the hawks cause he really didn't like them after 2013 lol
BUT... he is most likely going to play college hockey at BU so I have a feeling he's another one of the college kids Stan won't be able to sign down the road

Now, because of sitting around as much as many of us have had to do this year, I feel about my age! Thank you very much again (I loved your Facebook entry) Big T. Gig

I don't mind the draft this year.
For the first time I can recall during the Bowman era, forward draft picks have come with reputations as good board battlers/forecheckers.
The team has added some size on the back-end (especially picks five, six and eight). The goaltender has a legitimate chance to be a future starter.
There were no wasted picks on undersized Euro or US college polly-annas. All eight picks make sense.

Phil, if I could make it down to the land of Sunshine I would to celebrate with you. But they won’t let me back home! Once this thing ends, I’ll head down and we’ll got to a Tampa or Panthers game. Eckblad is from my neighbourhood, I’ll see if he’ll get us access. Or even Q is from my hood growing up. I kinda know him I guess you could say. I’ll treat ya to a game!!!

Guy is huge. That one on one drill makes him look like Gandalf and Bilbo are on the ice together. I heard “physical play” so many times I thought I was watching a Vegas prospect!!! only 18 minutes in penalties in 105 games in the "Q". hopefully he's one of them fellers that can hit a lot and still stay out of the box. pretty amazing a guy of his age and stature falls down to the last round. he's going to be a fun project to watch.

C'est la vie in Chicago Fandom I was wondering if I was the only person who noticed this..... 2nd round, pick 45: Steve Yzerman shows how a savvy GM operates, trading back a half dozen picks to add another pick later and also getting his man.... 2nd round, pick 46: Stan: hold my beer..... picks goalie he probably could've gotten in the third round or in the second after trading back....
