lol! My parents once put together a social club in which a pair of couples would plan a ridiculously fun evening for about 15-20 couples. Well, one of those evenings was a long series of initiations, one of which was being blindfolded and having the person's hand guided into a toilet bowl in which a rotten peeled banana awaited their firm grasp. Let's just say that a good portion of the dues went towards alcohol for each monthly event. Hahahahaha. That’s just awesome! On a different topic. What ya think of the World Series? I thought it was pretty good considering the circumstances. Also that the Tigers weren’t in it ( or may never be again). I was happy for the Dodgers. Is it just me, or was Lasorda ancient in 88? What the hell is he now? He’s gonna be around another 5 decades it seems!!! Being a longtime (since late 50's) Giants' fan, I find it hard to be happy the Dodgers won the series. But since I have a lot of Dodger fans that are good friends of mine, I guess that it's ok.
I read one thing about the final game that kind of bothered me, that Turner was lifted from the game after his third at bat and sent to dressing room......because earlier he had tested positive for the covid-19 virus. Then, after the game, the dip$hit came out to celebrate with his teammates, but removed his mask. Now I guess the Dodgers and Rays have to all get tested before they can return home. I really like that he's a great hitter, but seems pretty selfish in his behavior in this situation. MLB is looking into this to decide if there should be any further actions on the part of the League.

Man, I own the movie but it's been too long since I've last watched it. I know Eric Nesterenko is in it, but he was the dad if I remember correctly (or grandfather?) so would not have been a team mate. The Flin Flon Flash was indeed Dean's dad, but not his teammate...I'll give it a bit to let others try...hint: He was born in England. Perlini? LOL

You’re welcome for Kirk Gibson in 88. He may have been broken, but he still worked. My Tigers dismantled way too early. Mike Illitch bought the team a few years after they dumped everyone. I feel they did the same back in 2015, they traded Verlander, Price, let Scherzer walk, traded Porcello, Fister etc. They had some good pitching to march forward with, and made a horrible mistake of signing Cabrera when he had another year left on his deal and was seriously breaking down, but heyyyy, 35 million a year ain’t shttttttt. But that’s my whine, congrats for sticking it out 32 years!!! Casey Mize is going to be a good one. Hinch wants to manage there and I think he's a very good, and very young, manager. There's a couple of other nice blossoming players. It's an uphill climb, but they're not quite at Ground Zero. I think it’s a huge uphill climb. Hopefully Torkelson is the real deal like they say. They’ve picked a lot of pitchers the last 4-5 years and all I read in the papers and on line is that “help is coming”. Yet, I still don’t see many make the jump. I don’t see Toledo looking like a total powerhouse in AAA. With a lot of these kids. I know a bunch are still in college, but I think it’s gonna take a couple more drafts to get this thing going. They’ve got deep pockets (Illitch’s) and they can start to take advantage of teams in trades again like they did with Florida and getting Cabrera. That’s my hope for thy Tiger!!!

I went 15/20 on the trivia... I got one: What Hawks goalie stopped 80 of 83 shots in a 3-2 loss to Boston in 1943? This came up on the scoreboard once, and it's been stuck in my ever since...relevant question now as the shots faced may be broken next year with the stellar D the team will have... last name was lopresti but not sure of the first name without cheating. edit: took a peek, it was sam lopresti. his son pete lopresti was also an nhl goalie making them the only father/son nhl goalies to date. for some trivia inside the trivia, here's another nugget about the elder lopresti snipped from his wiki page: LoPresti left the NHL during the Second World War to join the United States Navy where he served on board the SS Roger B. Taney. The ship was torpedoed during a crossing of the Atlantic Ocean and sunk in 1943; LoPresti was one of 29 sailors who survived 42 days lost at sea in a single lifeboat before being rescued off the coast of Brazil. LoPresti was credited with saving the lives of his shipmates by killing a dolphin with a sheath knife, providing nearly the only food they had during their ordeal.

Since no McDonald's nearby, he assured a McDolphin Menu for his shipmates.

That is correct sir, and thank you for the awesome side story.

I had read one time his father was Chuck Arnason, who was playing in Oklahoma City at the time Tyler was born. I'd bet he didn't stay there very long with the way minor league hockey is.

Housley was from South St. Paul, Minnesota. He went right from high school to the NHL. Not many players (if any) have done that.

If only they'd all been born 2 days earlier......that would have really given new meaning to Groundhog Day! lol

this is too obscure for trivia, but jonny toews has a 22 year old cousin (kai toews) who is a japanese national and he plays pro basketball in japan. jonny's uncle, a fellow named burke toews, coaches women's basketball in japan. i guess he got hooked up with a japanese gal over there.
boring stuff for a quiet day.
