kane appears to be on the mend. some of the bullet points... NHL free agent forward Patrick Kane told The Associated Press on Thursday he’s been on the ice about 20 times already and is on track, if not ahead of the initial four to six month projection in returning to play since having hip resurfacing surgery on June 1.
“It’s just exciting to see progression and just feeling better on the ice,” Kane said by phone. “Kind of getting back to my old self, so it’s pretty exciting.”
The 34-year-old, three-time Stanley Cup winner says he has an upcoming doctor’s appointment during which he hopes to be cleared for contact.
“I think we’re at the point now where, I mean, could I come back early? Yeah, probably,” Kane said. “But does it make sense? You know, it might be better to take the full time and just make sure I’m at 105-110% instead of just 90-95. But it’s a lot better than I was last year.”
As for where he’ll be playing, Kane is staying patient while expecting to field offers once NHL teams open training camp in three weeks.
Then again, he added: “If someone wanted to come and give an offer that I was excited about, and a situation that I’m excited about, it’s not like I wouldn’t be listening just because of the situation I’m in.”www.tsn.ca/nhl/patrick-kane-back-on-the-ice-and-feeling-himself-again-three-months-since-hip-surgery-1.2002227

I have Debrincat and Larkin in my fantasy league, Kaner would be nice to help boost their stats. Thankfully Detroit is in the East, still don't like them but Debrincat helps.

And I still say this thread no longer belongs in BlackhawksTalk!

Can not rule out stronger contending teams like the Oilers, Vegas, Canes and even back to the Rangers.

Would have loved to see a healthy Kane with Bedard. They would have needed a big power forward to go with them for 5 on 5 - someone like one of the Tkachuks or a Tom Wilson type . . .

It will be interesting to see what type of contract he gets, term & AAV. Some team will get not only get a special player, but motivated and hungry. Even at soon to be 35 he still is a kid and loves the game and enjoys playing hockey, much like Bedard. Both extremely gifted and talented, but love being on the ice. This video put out by his representatives is a great move and I am sure we will see a few more.

I thought about posting that yesterday and decided not to... feels like he would be a nice fit in detroit.... The Rags would have to move a piece to acquire Kane and that could affect team chemistry at that point of the season but Buffalo and Detroit both have the cap-space w/o doing any roster damage at all. Perrot and Raymond have looked 'okay' on the top line but a healthy Kane with Larkin and D-Cat could be explosive and strengthens their 2nd and 3rd lines as well. Michigan teammates/linemates Compher and Copp were both solid additions as was Sprong and just about all the D-men they added look solid too.

I agree that 88 with Larks and d-cat could be lethal, but I wonder if their coach would be ok with the d zone play of that line.

He wins draws, controls the puck and plays a responsible and fairly physical game and D-Cat can too but Kaner will always be a team's 'high' forward in the zone, looking for a break-out. A bigger/power forward type on one of Larkin's wings would make sense too and just let Kane and the Cat work their magic on the PP or when a goal is needed.
