Wonder if Ken Holland (Gm Oilers) who originally drafted overall #6 back in 2018 might take a chance on Zadina. Someone will, but who? Took a pay cut to have contract terminated, signs with Sharks hoping to have a good year and cash in next year, I think that is what he is doing.

edit: i see his QO was $813k but he settled for $775k.
so i guess the 1 way status of his contract was what mitchell's camp was after? (i added the "?" because whenever i delve into dollars and cents i'm usually way off.)

And I’m sure half that deal is a signing bonus. He’s been around a while now. He wanted some security. Hopefully he can get a 3 year deal soon and break the cycle!!!

As always T you bring up a good point one year at NHL pay is nothing to sneeze at. Could you imagine being 22/23 and you get 775k for on year? Even if he fails over here. He can go to Europe and make 250k per year over there. Maybe more. Sometimes if you sign strictly with an AHL team, they’ll pay you 300-400k. The NHL has to pay the AHL portion of a contract. But if you sign with the AHL team with no NHL affiliation. You can literally get a good haul as AHL teams don’t really pay many players. So the ones they do they can really fork out some cash to them!!!

“ The Arizona Coyotes are parting ways with forward Alex Galchenyuk after they brought him back to the organization for his third stint just under two weeks ago. The team has placed him on waivers for the purposes of terminating his contract today.
Arizona did not say this is a mutual termination – potentially meaning that Galchenyuk has violated terms set forth in his contract in a manner that is grounds for termination. The team specified they wouldn’t be commenting further, and PHNX Sports’ Craig Morgan adds the NHLPA is reviewing the circumstances surrounding Galchenyuk’s termination.”
I wonder what happened. He’s been bouncing around the league. AZ might be his last stop in the NHL and probably go overseas

Galchenyuk has earned pretty much 25 million. I think he’ll ride off into the sunset. He’s got enough money now. No matter what he’s done, it’s best to just move on. I’m sure the Yotes had not hint to lose with him. So it must have been stupid!!!

it surprised me a bit but i don't blame him. they're an aging team who's purpose it seems is to get ovi his goal scoring record ahead of anything else. zero playoff series wins since their cup in '18. missed the playoffs last year and a smart bet they miss them this year. likely a good time to bail out.

Former Chicago Blackhawks superstar winger Patrick Kane is not expected to sign with a team until the 2023-24 season begins, according to ESPN. His agent Pat Brisson told Greg Wyshynski that he's "very comfortable" playing the waiting game when it comes to Kane's future.
"There's no rush," Brisson said. "This is one I'm very comfortable with. I'm very calm. You could offer me a one-year deal or a two-year deal right now at $7 million or so. I don't even know if I want to entertain it, because it's not what he needs. We'll see, at the right time, how he feels, where he's at, and then we'll take it from there."www.nbcsportschicago.com/nhl/chicago-blackhawks/patrick-kane-not-expected-sign-with-team-until-2023-24-season-starts-agent-tells-espn/495094/

Should really be an awesome and unpredictable season this year. Gotta think Hawks, Ducks and Jackets are all improved and won’t be quite the doormats again. What a dogfight we should see for the top 16 slots!

I feel if there ever gonna be a time to move Bob, now is the time. He’s coming off an outstanding year. And I know it’s a lot to lean Knight at this point. But I would. Even if I had to eat a wee bit of Bobs deal. Even 25%. I think there’s a taker at 7.5 million. Saving 7.5 is a huge deal. Sure eating 2.5 isn’t the greatest. But the 7.5 is the real catch here. Panthers could really shore up their lineup with that!!!

Obviously you’ll need a back up. We all just seen how the VGK 3rd string tendy did. The cats could get a decent tandem and bolster the defense. They’ll have the cap space to do so. Grab Dumba. Then sign M Jones as backup. And they’ll be ok. Still have cash left over to add later on!!!

bolts traded a boat-load for this guy...it'll be interesting to see if he pans out.
20 regular season games with TB netted him just 1g, 3a. a leg injury sidelined him at the end of the season but he managed to come back for 3 playoff games but he was scoreless.
not sure it's fair to let goals/assists define this guy. "the oxbow ox" (born in oxbow, saskatchewan) is a wrecking ball more than a goal scorer although he did manage a 40 goal season with moose jaw in the "W". but still...the bolts were all in on this guy giving nashville cal foote, a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and a 5th (spread over drafts from this year to 2025).
kudos to the bolts for seeing a player they think they need and going out and getting him but fook me, that's a lot to give up for an undrafted player.
i reckon he's a player to watch this coming season. hope he stays healthy to help gauge whether the bolts messed up or hit a homer with this guy.

I'm still not sure of the reason he entered the assistance program and that's how it's supposed to be I guess and I'm also not sure if it affects his development either. The kid played huge when he came up @20,allowed 4gls in two pressure packed PO games against TB,followed-up with a decent rookie year and has decent numbers over-all @22. Florida's draft-pick basket is still pretty empty with no 1st's the next two years,a conditional 1st in 26 and no 2nd next year, would the Hawks entertain acquiring this young GT? His hit helps reach the floor the next three years,he remains a RFA afterward and his value through trade or through solid play the next 5 years or so could end-up being a big value and a bit of a gamble too but the team CAN gamble for a few more years IMO. Get Florida to include this Lundell kid,the 21yro center's offensive numbers won't blow anybody's hair back but he plays a great defensive game and kills penalties well with 3 shorties and 6 SHP's his first two years and he's already seen 30 PO games. They still need a RS D-man too, offer Murphy with half retained. Some quality players in their early 20's,who'll be established and coming into their own when the prospects start arriving would be advantageous and we have few if any of those type of players at the moment.

That WAS a lot to give up but he's a big brute of a winger and had a nice 24gl debut the year before. We often talk about paying for potential VS past performance and I think TB's paying for potential here. The cap-hit's reasonable and IF he can be that mid 20's goal scoring,rock-em-sock-em forward,it could be a win......could be. Tampa lost a LOT of toughness with Maroon,Perry did his share and Kilorn could be a load too, they need Jeannot to provide that now and maybe Cooper sees the possibility of a mid 20's break-through like we've seen in other bigger forwards. That is a lot of fooking picks though!LOL!

backstrom is almost exactly 1 year older than kane, so hopefully the news is as good in kane's camp as it appears to be in backstrom's.

bergeron all time leader in faceoffs taken (since they started counting) with 26,206 although crosby is just 223 behind.
such an amazing, consistent career from start to finish. hard to believe he was the 45th pick in his draft year.
he's had a career that most will envy. stayed reasonably healthy playing in a total of 1,464 combined p/o and reg season games, and he's still going out near the top of his game.
