Pius Suter signs with Canucks - 2 years @$1.6m each. I guess the news is pretty sparse here in the dog days of August.

This was from a NY Ranger fan site not unlike ours. Commenting on adding a UFA. Lots of anti-Artemi comments like this one:
Mike Johnson 370 Points 1d ago
NY does not need another forward (already have Panarin) who will not check or play D, so please forget Kessel. Somebody like Ritchie or Watson, might help, but there is no Cap available, and Laff is not signed.

Heres an interesting “scarce news” about the Dumba contract with AZ. His 1.15 signing bonus is not payable until April 15 2024. So if any team trade for him at TDL, theyll be obligated to pay him then

I'm surprised by this but i'm also not surprised by this. This guy Toews gets overshadowed by Makar and others on the team, but great fundamental player, steady/solid and always in the right position. Sakic "stole" this guy form the Islanders who I bet wished they still had.

In a somewhat related story unfortunately due to his death, the Hawks were pleased when Toronto selected Amirov back in 2020 as they had a good feeling Montreal would select defenseman Guhle, leaving them with Reichel. I was rooting for Dawson Mercer who went #18 to the Devils. Btw, Reichel countryman and fellow German Tim Stutzle should have gone #1, he went #3 to Senators who I am sure they are quite pleased. They also selected at #5 Sanderson, who will be a #1 dman IMO here very shortly. You talk about nailing your (2) top 5 picks.

Saw a post in facebook that Patrick Kane leads the league in scoring during the 2010s (2010-2019). Not sure if its accurate

interesting... odd how many teams come and go as their NHL big brother. The last independent team was from 1995 I would assume they did their homework, financially. Because theyll have to fill their roster with AHL contracts. Little to no players being paid by an NHL club. AHL also has a roster rule that 13 of the 18 skaters must not exceed 260 games played in the NHL. Its dubbed as the “developmental rule” - so i guess AHL really is a developmental league. Not a real minor league where less than NHL-talent players play Following up on this - the Hurricanes will be the NHL team that will have no AHL team affiliate (so far) this upcoming season

There have been so many calls of his on twitter the last few days.

I'm not sure who made this list or how much research went into it but if dach is our biggest draft bust since 2010 we're not doing too badly. Worth noting 4 on this list (counting kirby) are former hawks.
Worst on this list for me has to be yakupov.

I would've picked Boquist. Not only a bust, but all we got back was Buffalo's biggest bust from that list. At least wee got something for Dach.

Some of these are as low as 25th picks - which if they’re busts is still not a good thing - but a first overall? Yikes! The first round of the 2012 draft was a bit spotty as I looked it over. Some notables: Hawks took Teevo and TB got Vasilevsky. Tom Wilson was in there but a lot of misses too.
