amount of slap shots/game has dropped to nearly half of what it was 13 years ago. (in 2009/10, each team averaged 7.1 slapshots a game. it has dropped steadily since then to 3.7 a game last season.) i wonder why this is? is it just a more finesse style game these days? do the ever-bigger goalies and their ginormous equipment factor into it? x.com/CoachRevak/status/1702520059581653420?s=20in 2009/10 the hawks were 2nd in the league with 46 goals via the slapper. last year we were dead last with 9. raddysh and domi led the team w/2 each. top 4 in the league last year were stamkos (14), pastrnak (13), taige thompson and ovi (12 each). BRING BACK THE SLAP SHOT!!

the jackets are getting exactly what they deserve. x.com/TLNdc/status/1702141867851149772?s=20edit: not sure why these tweets (oops...these X's) don't show up directly when i put them here anymore. same on my phone. i guess mr. musk is pushing some buttons in his secret volcano lair. i hope it's a temporary thing.

Hedman and Chara come to mind. not a weapon by any means when it comes to the blackhawks' back end. just seth and tinordi scored goals using the slapshot (1 each). seth led the defenders with 31 shots. nobody else was even close to 20. top 3 in the league were roman josi, dougie hamilton and erik karlsson with 9, 8, and 7 goals and 102, 77 and 60 shots respectively. lots of goals scored by the player but one can only guess how many more goals were scored on the rebound or tipped in.

Ju-Ju signs a one year deal with the Wild. 775K. it's a 2 way contract. hopefully he stays healthy. it'll be dandy contract if he plays the full season with the big club. his 3 longest seasons were between 60 and 70 games so hopefully with some luck he can play close to a full season for once.

Requested personal pictures from players phone, weird. no doubt. doesn't make a lot of sense. i wonder...what's the point of it? what insight in to a player could be gained by looking at pics on his phone? i'm sure more details will come to light soon. does he still get paid i wonder? he did "resign" so not sure how that works.

From what i read, since he technically “resigns”, he forfeits the contract and money And i agree, theres gotta be more than the pictures with this. And I think the real story probably wont come out Also, the complaints were from younger players while the older vets had little to no issue with whatever Babcock was asking of them. That just says that there is already a divide in the locker room/roster

...of course, if it was a "kept" secret i wouldn't know about it anyways. : ) I somewhat originally agree with you. All these stuff leaking about babcock as soon as he was hired last July, from previous players about bad he is, eventually someone will say something. But, im sure you also thought that he was initially “fired”. This whole resignation angle is probably what they decided to do to save money and in return keep whatever dignity is left for babcock. Its like Babcock is saying, i wont take the money but no one in the CBJ org better go to the press and say anything.

Not big fan of Babcock, but stop questioning his every move. From what I heard he asked to share pictures of family so he can know that player better, it is totally normal, unless you look at that with prejudice against him. No one complained except that clown at ESPN.

No one complained except that clown at ESPN. asking players to share family pics vs asking players to allow him to look through famiky pics on their phones seem like two pretty different things. I tend to think the latter is more true because I doubt he resigns if he does the former. either way, it still seems a little unnecessary. it would be nice to know what exactly happened.

No one complained except that clown at ESPN. Bissonette has become a self-appointed NHL celebrity. When he is serious about covering a game, he actually does a good job IMO, but when he becomes the center of attention like at the awards ceremony and puts players in awkward positions like he did, I find him to be totally obnoxious. So having him be a factor in this Babcock thing is very annoying whether Babcock is at fault or not. I wonder if a teammate ever punched his lights out?

Four days ago,BabCOCK was calling the allegations "irresponsible" and Jenner and Gaudreau backed him up......knowing they'd have to play for him. The two veterans said they just shared family photos in a bonding effort and other players have said they HAD to 'airplay' their phones to Babs' TV so he could inspect ALL photos. I'd have to imagine the new HC of the BJ's would have more pressing issues than inspecting players phones with the season right around the corner. The guy was defiant four days ago, with the backing of the captain and assistant captain, all insisted nothing more than sharing a few family pics........what changed? Gotta think Fantilli's breathin' a sigh of relief going into camp.

broadstreetbuzz.com/2023/09/16/flyers-trade-ottawa-senators-star/A talented, young RFA that another team has no cap-space for and somebody'll end-up with a 22yro 6'3" 200lb+ center coming off a 20gl 52%FO rookie season where he played em all. I've mentioned 21yro center Lundell on Fla a few times too, there's no way they keep him and keep the rest of the team together too because when is NOW for the Panthers. Does a team ever have enough strength up the middle? There'll be other good, young players other teams have no spot or space for too and some RFA's still remain unsigned. I'd like to see a few quality players in their early 20's added who'll be reaching their prime in a few years vs more 30 year olds.

I like your thinking there but have to figure they dump salary somewhere else other than trade Lundell - will not achieve enough savings from him alone. Lundell and Forsling/OEL/Mikkola? The D-man add in would be odd given Mikkola's/OEL's recent signings and Forsling being pretty integral to the team's current success. That is a team to keep an eye on though.

It's not the 925K Lundell will make this year that's a problem,it's the 3-4M he'll make on his next deal. He's Fla's best defensive forward and offense is starting to come too,he already has 30 PO games under his belt also......@21! Forsling, like Lundell was a big part of the Panther's PO run and Forsling, like Lundell will be due a big raise next year. Fla desperately needs picks and cap space(as you said) and we got plenty of both,a certified 21yro shut-down #3 would be a wonderful add IMO. Ott is in talks to move 22yro Pinto too,he'd also be a wonderful add at his age.

stamkos says he's disappointed contact talks for his extension haven't started yet. hard to believe tampa wouldn't make some kind of offer. he's still playing at a high level (last 2 seasons missed 2 games and put up 190 points). Friedman on 32TP: “I know people who are around Stamkos, and I am talking other players, few of them told me that there is this underlying belief around them that Tampa wouldn’t be crushed if he left”x.com/NHL_Watcher/status/1705214086340874367?s=20Friedman asks what do Cirelli, Hagel, Kucherov, Point, Cernak, Hedman, Sergachev and Vasilevskiy all have in common? They were all signed a year before they became UFA. Says if you’re Stamkos it’s hard not to look at that and wonder why he isn’t being taken care of?x.com/NHL_Watcher/status/1705217886548087180?s=20

i think it will be interesting to see what this guy does this season. i remember more than a few heads turned when he was picked #1 by montreal. at 18 he was 229 pounds, and now he weighs in at 238 as a 19 year old. 4g, 6a in 39 games in his first season until it was ended by a knee injury. NHL players that weigh as much or more than 19-year-old Juraj Slafkovsky:
— Milan Lucic — Victor Hedman — Logan Stanley — David Savard — Elmer Soderblom — Alex Ovechkin — Nikita Zadorov — Jamie Oleksiakx.com/BigHeadHcky/status/1705304677594824968?s=20
