Florida traded that kid along with a 1st and a 3rd for 18 regular season and 10 PO game's worth of 34yro Claude Giroux with zero intentions of re-signing him. Giroux did have 23pts in those 18 games to help em win the President's trophy and 8 more in the PO's to help em win their first series in forever but at what price? zito's made a few moves that had me scratching my head but he's getting results. finals last year and likely a top 5 team this year. i'll just keep quiet and let him do the g.m-ing. He's made some DANDY trades too!

I think Makar is great in today’s day and age. After Orr’s first 3 seasons, which were mediocre by his standards. He rattled off 6 straight 100 point seasons. 139 and 135 were his highest. So think that’s about as close to Bobby as he’ll get. The comparisons will end there.
I’m sure Makar will have a shot at getting more points than Orr just due to Orr not playing a full career!!!

Same with Quinn Hughes who became the fastest D-man in league history to 200 assists last year @23. Both are great, young players and Makar already has a cup to his name but neither have Orr's three-zone impact and dominance.......or his tough-as nails attitude. I saw Bobby Orr play in a brutal era and I'm yet to see his equal!

a few of my most disliked nhlers made this list.
and maybe part of the problem with the jets in previous years was dubois. they did good trading him to l.a.

I’d love to see a few more come along and light it up. I never thought Hughes would be this good. I really didn’t. The little bastard is pretty tough too. I’m really hoping Korchinski with his smooth skating style will be something special. I know TJ Brodie. And he told me that Korchinski really impressed him when they played the couple games this year. That was refreshing to hear. So let’s hope that TJ is right and he does become a top Dman!!!

Well that 2 coaches we have had a hand ib getting fired, i hope one fine day. coaches will dread playing chicago for a different reason. edit: lane lambert looks like someone who could get roy or lamoriello whacked. and on a sidenote, roy's first road game as coach will be in montreal.

Maple Leafs give William Nylander team-record $92M contract, AAV $11.5M a bit early but what the hell...here's nylander's numbers pre/post contract. pre-contract...38 games, 21g, 36a +6. post contract...5 games, 0g, 2a -3. (although he does have 2 goals halfway thru their game tonight in vancouver) shots/game are almost identical pre/post so maybe he's just a bit snakebit.

6'8" 235 lb. adam klapka...undrafted out of the czech republic makes his flames debut.
tallest forward (by a full inch) to play this year, and the 6th heaviest.
going to be interesting to watch him...playing on the 4th line.
dennis gilbert draws in as well, so should be good to watch.
hopefully "the battle of alberta" resembles just that tonight.
edit: good game, 3-1 oil. oilers win 13th straight, setting longest winning streak of any canadian team ever.
skinner wins his 10th straight, tying grant fuhr for the oiler's record.
before his streak, he was 11-9-1, .884% and 3.04. since then he's 10-0-0 and before tonight's game was .946% and 1.54.

Not to mention, the Oilers have 4 games in hand on the Vegans and Nucks. They’re 6 points back of Vegas and 13 back of Van. However, considering their start, they look good. Real good.
I’ve always said, their tending isn’t the problem. The team hangs em out to dry way too much. Now they’ve seemed to tighten things up. I’m sure the players know what to do. I just think coaches won’t get out of the way of themselves. And the players revolt. Not saying I like it. But it is what it is these days!!!

They have the easiest schedule in the league with the fewest back to back games and 3 in 4 nights. And the majority of their wins are against non playoff teams, and the teams that are in a playoff spot played their 3rd in 4 nights. The Oilers have zero back to back games in Jan. Yeah 13 is impressive but the schedule really favors them during this stretch. They had 2 long winning streaks and they're barely in a playoff spot. F*ck the Oilers

lol, what are ya doing, Ken? douche quantity just went up a couple notches in Edmonton. cuz E Kane wasn't enough... That's how I described Perry myself after he was acquired but the fact is,he was anything but here. He was everything the FO promised and more,on and off the ice and he was as popular in the Hawks' locker-room as he was in all the other locker-rooms he's been in the last 19 years. Our guy was a genius for signing him for 4M and Holland's making a mistake adding the proven PO veteran for league minimum? Once again,Corry Perry's unacceptable, inappropriate and embarrassing behavior wasn't criminal,or severe enough to warrant any league action what soever or enough to deter other teams BUT egregious enough to terminate an NHL contract. What gives? I have to think that question will come up when the Oil host the Hawks Thursday night. The "struggles with alcohol" that Perry was gonna seek professional help with must be behind him now(that was QUICK!),or maybe answering the bell for 1,273 regular season and 196 PO games(all 78 the last four years alone) and never a hint of off-ice problems in the past proves he's one hell of a functioning alcoholic. What gives? What does give? I was a bit skeptical of Big-T's rumor at first, but much less so when we saw the 'baby bump' a few weeks later. I still think there's a chance he got liquored-up and tore into somebody in management over a proposed trade or something else. What gives? In the immortal words of the late Rocky Wirtz........."None of your business!"

Maybe he inadvertently mentioned the 'Lucky Sperm Club' and Danny's the poster-boy! We saw groups of wealthy celebrities pool their money in attempts to buy an NHL door-mat like Ottawa and fail but 'Prince Daniel' inherited an empire that includes one of the league's most valuable teams as a 'minor' holding just like that......at 46!

Maybe Perry wanted out and changed his mind about being part of a rebuild? I mean, hes been cup-chasing since he left Anaheim. So he found a way out.
The NHLPA main concern was that whatever Perry did, shouldnt set a precedent for contract terminations. Maybe they dont want players thinking “i’ll just do what Perry did and i can be off this team”

I know I wasn't but for sure some people were, huge difference is that Toews and Kane won a Cup in their 3rd year and 2 more in the next 5yrs. McDavid and Drai have won 4 rounds. Great regular season team but a very favorable schedule helps with that.
