Panthers sign Gustav Forsling to an eight-year, $46 million contract extension with 5.75 million under his new deal. Forsling is a league-best plus-43 and has nine goals and 22 assists in 62 games this season. He's been with the Panthers for four seasons since being claimed off waivers in January of 2021. Not bad for a waiver claim and good for Gustav. Just another reminder that players develop at different rates. Cannot recall how Q used him - but making the opening night roster his first season suggested that Q must’ve been seeing something from him. Helluva accomplishment for a 5th rounder. Q fed him 38 starts as a 20yro and 44 more as a 21yro,then Q got shit-canned and Forsling was traded the following summer.......along with the Joker.

Just another reminder that players develop at different rates. 10 goals and +44 after last night's tough 2-1 loss to Philly......a full +18 better than any other Panther's skater! He's just so smart and reliable in his own end now and he's also good for 10gls+ and 40pts+ of offensive production. The eight year term for a 27yro is a bit prohibitive but he's also durable and that's why he signed for 1-2M under value....his true value. That +44 has come against the opponent's best offensive players night-in/night-out too!

Another underwhelming return, i mean for Guentzel; Guaranteed - Bunting, 3 prospects and a 2nd rounder If Canes get to the cup final, 2nd turn to 1st If Canes wins tbe cup, they get another 5th rounder They also give up Ty Smith Maybe the price went down because the Canes couldnt extend Guentzel to a contract (sign & trade)? What was the price to Vancouver that Vancouver walked away from? don’t think they had the secondary propsects of carolinas caliber

That +44 has come against the opponent's best offensive players night-in/night-out too! I believe the term smart and reliable is accurate and fitting. He is always in the right place/position and makes the simple play. Very similar to our previous #4 Niklas Hjalmarsson, not sure if Fosling is adept as Niklas was to blocking shots and having his stick it seemed in the right position all the time. Niklas was also very durable, I know Keith and Seabrook got a lot of the accolades and right fully so, but Niklas and Oduya were out there plenty of times against the teams #1 line and penalty kill in 2013 & 2015.

I actually thought Guentz will go to the canucks because of that pittsburgh two cups connection. Probably also why Kessel is hanging around up there

Zucker might come with Dumba too. Not really sure what Trotz is doing in Nashville. These doesnt get them pass the powerhouses in the West

If a team was willing to absorb Kuznetsov's entire 7.8MX1 and turn that 3rd into a 2nd,would the Caps have parted with a young forward?
Maybe 22yro Lapierre or 23yro McMichael? Sweeten a bit more and maybe include Dickenson for 23yro 6'6" 225lb forward Aliaksei Protas?
Detroit just traded 24yro 6'3" 212lb 1st round forward Klim Kostin to SJ for a 31yro L/S D-man who's never started more than 48gms in any year. We have five L/S D-men on the current roster and four more at Rockford. Keepin' em all? Adding size later? Much later?

Hertl to Vegas. the west is gonna be a good watch this spring... Give credit to Vegas for going all in, but Hertl who is 30 (coming off knee surgery) and has 6 more years at $6.75M. I suppose the Hawks might have to do some of these types of deals at some point (hopefully soon).

Dumba to the Lightning just gives me another reason to hate T.B. Let’s hope they fall out of the wild card spot. The Russian goalie has not been himself since coming back from injury. Unless he starts to play better and more consistent, they will struggle to make it which we all hope happens. Even if they make it do not see them winning a round versus Bruins, Cats or Rangers. The Islanders on a 5-game winning streak and playing better and 2 games in hand. Red Wings also have 2 games in hand.

NHL changed the rules after the Keith and Hossa signings. at least Kaner was hurt. the Kucherov thing was total bs, he was practicing for weeks, if not months before the playoffs began. Stone was hurt last year and is hurt this year as well (I read lacerated spleen?). I personally don't care, I think it is kinda funny how many Sharks fans are mad it is Vegas, though.

We will see herd he practices a little and is traveling with team not Kuch level but Stone last year was told he might not play for a long time also. And dont worry about the Irish this weekend
