Losing Joseph and Kubalik's(both wingers) 5.1M would help but it also opens two holes in a roster which would then have only eight forwards under contract.....including Norris. Six of em listed as centers....seven of nine if they re-do Pinto. Tkachuk's really a center too. New ownership doesn't look patient and they've stated a need for change. They want a scoring winger, they want to improve a D-group that's already making over 27M and a GT tandem already making 6.75M. Maybe they've seen enough from Pinto to justify painfully cutting ties with 25yro Norris, who knows and maybe they move Chychrun for a big return but he'll leave a hole too. In any even,I still think 25yro 6'4" 226lb center Kastelic could be had for a song and I'd sing that song to the tune of a 3rd or 4th because he's a big, young, badass with room to improve and we have few of them......none really. Would you take Joseph’s contract if it comes with Kastelic? I would go for that Joeseph's a solid 27yro,10+ goal scoring bottom six who plays a decent all-around game with a bit of bite for 2.95X2,maybe a little high but not much. Kastelic's only 25 and has a year @835k left with arb eligible RFA status afterward, combined they'd be a value,so a resounding yes. Joeseph also has his name on two cups if I'm not mistaken.

Rangers sign Kakko to 1 year $2.4M deal. Even though Rangers signed him by foregoing arbitration his contract now is more tradeable.

I’m not sure that team was built properly. They needed another year or two of development and drafting. Now their young kids they’ve tanked for are due money. And we’ve seen first hand that Lafreniere can be a star. And I wouldn’t doubt Kakko could be too. Getting Panera may not have been the best idea. Their kids got zero development with the vets they had!!!

We need top 6 talent. I doubt he is claimed, likely signs cheap deal with contender.

Yeah, I suppose then he would have to come over and play, unless he sits out, though do not see that happening. Possible, we shall see.

It seems like a lot. But he did have 48 points and was a +33. So it may end up being a steal if that keeps up!!!

But I personally think they’ll be trying to unload Hronek in a couple years. If those numbers don’t hold up, something’s gotta give. And it’ll be expensive to get rid of!!!

“ TSN’s Pierre LeBrun reports that the Washington Capitals and Los Angeles Kings are working on a one-for-one swap to see Pierre-Luc Dubois head to Washington and goaltender Darcy Kuemper head to the Kings. LeBrun also mentions that no salary will be retained in the deal.”
The craziness of the offseason has begun
*edit - is this a done deal? Capfriendly has PLD in Washington and Kuemper in LA. Didnt Washington recently bought capfriendly?

I assume since Sharks finished last they had 1st priority with waiver claim.

Sharks help Rangers with their cap situation, as all of it gets transferred to them.

PLD to Washington for kuemper I suppose Washington is banking on getting PLD straighten out, he was absolutely terrible in LA last year. LA thought the same and gave up some good players to get him and after 1-year failed experiment off he goes to nations capitol. Both have high caps hits, but PLD is much higher and more term (another 7 years) to Kuemper who has 3 I believe. PLD is a big center, who can skate and has skill, not sure why he looked so bad for LA last year. I watched a few games, and he was absolutely invisible on both ends of the ice. I recall he hurt his knee fairly early in the season, but was back playing right after, maybe he never fully healed.

He has high end talent, but just doesnt use it every game

LA got very lucky. That was one hell of a boat anchor of a contract. 7 years left at over 8 million. I personally wouldn’t do that. Let them rot with it.
Let’s see now what Kyle from Chicago has in his bag of trade chips!!!
