Cap hit of the extension seems steep...but I'll reserve judgement until he gets on the ice.
Not sorry to see Boqvist go, was hoping they'd get rid of Nylander as well.
Definitely a gamble...if Jones underacheives hopefully Stan is promoted to urinal attendant.
Still nice to see an ex Winterhawk in the Blackhawks sweater...it worked for Hossa

You'd think with the moves this bowling ball headed twat has made, especially lately, that the Hawks are going to wallow in mediocracy for years to come.
I know this is going to sound shitty, but I kinda hope all the legal action taken against the Hawks lately are true only in the sense that the current front office (and maybe higher) get scrubbed clean.
Unfortunately I'm somewhat of a pessimist and agree with "BigT's" take, that all this will get swept under the rug.
Hey at least I got to see 3 Cups in my lifetime...

8 year deal. Hawks receive Jones, pick 32 and a 6th rounder. BJ’s receive…… Boqvist, Picks 12, 44 and a 2022 first round pick. Not liking this at all!!! what a fucking nightmare I’d have to think more moves are coming. I don’t understand the letter last year. So they basically made shitty excuses for being soft and shit. The Hawks still need a solid defender. Plus a bunch of bottom 6 help. I sure hope Jones has a Norris in him. As of now, the Hawks have Jones-Zadorov, Murphy-Beaudin, Mitchell-DeHaan…. Kalynuk. Not sure that’s good enough and the price tag for that is immense!!!

Jones ain't better than Keith, so if the Hawks couldn't make themselves into a top-notch team in the last couple years, how are they going to do it with Jones instead of Keith? In a couple of years, the top two Hawks will be DCat and Jones, instead of Kane and Toews. Can't see those two as the making of a top tier team. Not that they are not good, but they are not good enough to lead this team to the promised land with Kane and Toews gone or less effective; and without any top notch rookie talent which isn't going to happen without basement finishes the next couple of years, which isn't going to happen either with K, T, DCat and Jones playing together. They might be "half-way decent" for a year, or so, but after that without an infusion of top notch young talent, they will be a bottom tier team.

seeing as I know Bowman won't get fired if we miss the playoffs again next year (because he is apparently bullet proof), JC has gotta be feeling the pressure in a big way after this trade.
if they don't make the playoffs next season (in a division with the likely Cup favorite, a former champion who is hell bent on making another run, a team that made the Final 2 seasons ago, and an improving Wild team to go along with the Jets and Perds), his ass is grass...

Keith is almost 40 with a lot of playoff miles and yes he wasn't used properly or had a solid top4 D partner consistently the past few years, but he's a shell of his former self, time for youth. Jones is a big guy who's agile, hits, blocks shots, and has a great shot himself. Seth will turn 27 at the start of the season and Keith 38. No 9.5 isn't right but for now I'm happy they're getting bigger and younger. And Caleb plays similar to Stillman but has more offensive upside, maybe a fresh start on a new team with his brother will be the spark he needs.

Don't have any inside info neither saw any rumours, but IMHO they already have offensive Norris caliber defenseman in Makar. What would Hamilton offer them that they already miss?

Squishy is likely referring to Makar, who is a rfa this summer and likely going to need a big raise...

Aaand from my perspective regarding the Jones' trade... How to put it politely... It's a terrible, disgusting trade and consequently extension. We basically exchanged 3 first round picks (Boqvist #8, this year's #11 and next year's or 2023's potentially top 5 pick) for what? A defenseman who potentially might be top NHL defenseman, but that still shall be proven. He so far was the top Dman in CBJ who did not achieve anything so far. Their best season was when they with a solid team effort outplayed TB and advanced into the next round. But that was a Tortorella style of play. I'd compare that success to the Habs' presence in finals this year. They did well, got hot but noone would be surprised if they would not advance to playoffs next year.
The price is too high. Especially on a rebuilding team. Sure we got back another 1st rounder. Everyone is surely thrilled to have a #31. Bit of a sarcasm, but I'm pissed with this trade.
Regarding Boqvist, we shall see. Noone can complain that we picked a top prospect. But we did not give him any chance to develop properly and ruined his confidence by riding him down the ground.
Cele zle (sorry for Slovak but these are the words that express my emotions - no swearing)

so then... now that I've had some hours to digest things...
first, what's done is done, so let's look at what we have now. I'd like to say that despite my numerous protests prior this trade (and the subsequent anger following it) I do like Seth Jones and I am glad he is on our team. as has been said, he is a legit #1 dman in the NHL. he is a physical freak like Keith is, his conditioning is outstanding. he can play in all situations. he immediately becomes our top pp point man and he likely will be on the top pk unit as well. he can eat minutes as Keith once did. so, in a way, he is actually a pretty damn good replacement for #2.
I don't know how he will do in this system, so we shall see about that. he has had a bad bit in c-bus, but the potential for him to be Norris candidate is there. if the pieces come together around him, the team could have a lot of success.
I cannot deny that I still vehemently disagree with what they gave up for him, but unfortunately there ain't a damn thing I can do about it, so going forward now... I am excited to have another top flight d-man onboard and hopefully it leads to more glory for the franchise.
my only question now is: what number will he wear? he ain't donning a #3 sweater (although, we have a good history with those who do) in Chicago!

And no matter what happens, even though we won Cups, it will always be in the back of my mind, that the Hawks front office are total butt-holes if the allegations are true. Shit I don't know maybe Stan pulls a rabbit out his ass and all will be good... But it makes ya wonder...
