I'm liking the picks so far, people can't say Bowman doesn't draft from the CHL and only drafts small guys anymore. But, just like all the other drafts. Very few make it from these rounds. Especially for Scambo. He hasn’t hit on many, and it looks like he must have watched at least one playoff game this year. There’s a lot of size in the playoffs. The small so called skilled dmen experiment failed. Miserably. So I wouldn’t put to much into these later draft pics too much, just like every year!!!

I don't like Bowman either but I'm optimistic, especially when he's finally drafting from the CHL and addressing size. Two things we mentioned many times over the years.

A friend of mine has a cousin with season tickets for the Raiders and he said Allan is a stud on D. Everything I've read about him sounds like a solid pick, regardless of when the reports projected him.

Just that not many make it from later rounds. Especially for the Hawks of late. But not many teams have a ton of 4th round picks on their team!!!

Doesn't help when they drafted guys 5'9"ish around 160-170. But since they took Dach at #3 they drafted guys in later rounds who're progressing nicely, we'll see within the next few years if any of them make the Hawks. Phillips has a great chance with his skating, size, and shot, maybe in a year or 2 he'll force management to make room for him or trade him.

6th round pick the Hawks take another big guy, 6'4" 205lb Russian center Ilya Safonov. From the World Junior highlights he's a good hitter.
They got another D in the 7th, 6'1" 190lb righty and a very thin forward from British Columbia, only 150lbs, but his 3rd year in the WHL he had more points than the first 2 combined with almost a third of the games played.

It's sucks Bowman added a 2nd to go along with two 1st but I'm glad the Hawks got Dach near the end of the 2nd round, thought for sure someone would've grabbed him. told ya 😁 now someone hand me the icyhot, I pulled something slapping myself on the back...

I also see that Arizona drafted the overager Josh Doan early in the second well above his ranking. Kid has some skill but this is clearly a PR move.

Twelve years?

The 7th rd. dman was Wyatt Kaiser's teammate at Minn-Duluth. so they'll have the Blackhawks to talk about at college next season.

I think he looks back at the 2010 team and thinks it's easy-peasy to have a bunch of sub 3rd round picks like Byfuglien and Burish and Hjalmarsson and Brouwer be significant contributors. Stan and company need to realize they aren't a shadow of Mike Smith and company.

this is sappy as all hell but it's definitely now totally hawk related so... I have a couple of brothers and I get along with both of them totally fine, but even if someday either or both had to do the eulogy at my funeral I doubt I’d get anything so saccharine. They might feel it but they’d never say it out loud. But that’s my family. Good on Kirby’s for being more open.

Twelve years? I just didn’t understand how he didn’t understand the game of hockey? The guy avoided size, toughness and Canadians pretty much for the last 5 years. I mean, you can do that, but it won’t pan out. Imagine having a GM that won’t draft Euros? I’m sure that doesn’t end well. I think he needs to be fired. He’s still trying to learn on the job, and his work as a whole is rancid. His Jones trade reminds me of a desperate GM trying to hold onto his job. I really do think one more bad year and he’s gone. Or he’ll be moved to sit with his old man as a special advisor!!!

Twelve years? McNeil, Knott, Bondra, Radke, etc were busts and then he went with smaller faster guys, that didn't work out either, hopefully he learned they have to have a good head on their shoulders and not just size and good abilities. Dach really impressed me during his combine and answering questions from GMs and scouts, plus his interviews after the draft showed his maturity. Now we'll see how the bigger guys drafted after the 1st round since the Dach draft pan out.

Now we'll see how the bigger guys drafted after the 1st round since the Dach draft pan out. After clamoring for size,I'd be disingenuous not to notice more size being added the last two drafts but SB is fortunate to have the opportunity to change course after such poor performance over the last 3-4 years IMO. A LOT of 1st round draft capitol was spent on four kids who were supposed to fill the cupboards with top four potential D-men and now two are gone and the other two look more and more meh as more D-men are added and we're still paying unforced errors from two summers ago Shaw,Maata and deHAAN-job not to mention Brent 'buyout' Connolly @3.5MX2 last spring......very fortunate indeed! Passed up some high quality, young players to draft those 1st round D-men too! I want to give a lot of credit to you and others for staying positive in the face of all this.....I really do!

I wonder what the plan would have been if the Jones trade hadn’t happened. I liked Sillinger at #11 as well, or Svechkov was my other hope. Who was on the Hawks radar there, I wonder if we ever find out.
