one week to go before round one...
new mock on the Athletic has the 'hawks taking Wallstedt. Cossa goes one before him to Ottawa... in said mock, they took Wallstedt over Coronato, Sillinger, and Lucius...
in the comments, Pronman said he thinks Coronato is the guy if they pass on a goalie, but that he has heard from a lot of local guys that the 'hawks are looking hard at a goalie...
I still kinda like Lucius or Sillinger better than Coronato, but I'd be good with any of those three, personally. feels like Sillinger's wheels and Lucius having his injury are moving them down... I have zero hope that McTavish is there at 11 at this point...
I've not gone much past the second round guys, so I can't comment on anyone past that round, but I am hoping Morrow drops to us for our first pick in the second round. he sounds like he could be a good get at 43.

seeing as he is a Spitfire, any comments on Wyatt Johnston, T?
I've seen him going in the first, second, and third so far. seemed like the first was a reach, but he could be around in the second.
should we take him?

He’s another kid I feel for. He didn’t get a chance in his draft year to showcase himself. If he had the opportunity to do so, maybe he gets over a point per game and looks like a solid player? He’s one of those kids that could drop to 2nd or even the 3rd round this year. Kids that have a first year of roughly 30 points. Usually they end up getting more than double in their second year. So, he’s worth a shot. He’ll have two more full years of OHL and be able to develop. We’ll see soon enough. I don’t think Scambo goes to the OHL very much. I think he’s on his knee kick, going for Germans, or even now Swiss players. He always has to think he’s ahead of the curve. And it never ever works out. Always take the best player, and then with other picks fill out your positional needs!!!

I gotcha. any scouting report on him? he sounds like a guy that may have gone higher if there had been a season last year, as you said. I expect Bowman to stick to NA for round 1 unless a guy like Eklund falls to 11 or they decide Wallstedt is the way of the future (and is available at 11)...

He's been drafting more CHL players the past few years, Phillips from the OHL last draft, who looked good as an 18yr old playing in the AHL. 6'8" Crevier from the last draft plays in the QMJHL and could be a sleeper pick like Buff. But I don't mind taking Germans or Swiss players because defensively they remind me of North Americans. Plus they can play in the AHL right away, unlike CHL players, minus this covid season of course.

Unfortunately, he rarely hits on NHL players and he’s had the most or 2nd most picks over the last decade. So this thing should a been rebuilt 3 times over with some bullets to spare. He just sucks at his job. And we’re gonna find out real soon if he sucks as a human too!!!

I'll ask a few questions out of honest curiosity and with respect for your opinion.... Do you believe the team is beginning a rebuild,in the middle of a rebuild or nearly done with their rebuild? What do you expect from the team next year and the one after as far as record? You seem to be one of the most positive and supportive of the FO as far as members here and I'm interested in your perspective.

Bob McKenzie’s final draft rankings are out tonight on TSN. It’ll be interesting to see who he has where. We’re edging closer to the draft, and once the expansion draft is out of the way, I feel there’ll be a ton of movement!!!

Sillinger at #11, played his rookie season with Medicine Hat, was the fourth leading rookie scorer where Michal Teply was first. A nice consolation prize. This draft is going to be one that’s revisited I think, it might even be deeper then at first thought. Why I’m not a fan of trading picks away. I also see Josh Doan has jumped a couple of rounds #66, an overage with good bloodlines. If he slips from there he’d be a nice third round choice, even if he’s committed to college.

I feel like Bowman goes with Coronato or a goalie at 11. I think Lucius is gone before then. I don't think they'll take Sillinger due to his skating and Coronato projects better in his own end. as of now I predict Wallstedt or Cossa unless one of them goes in the top 10.

The beginning of the rebuild began with Dach and we are in the early stages of our rebuild. Dach's so called lack of development has been blamed on Stan even though Stan did not give Dach a concussion in his rookie year nor did he fracture Dach's wrist before the start of his second. Even with the injury Dach ended up in the same ball park point wise as both Hughes and Kakko even though they were considered in a league of their own. If Dach was a dud what would you call Hughes and Kakko. Not signing Crawford speed up our rebuild because Lanks was rated behind Subban and Delia on our depth chart. It would have been terrible if Lanks had been left unprotected and drafted by Seattle. We now have a better understanding of what we have and I am hopeful some of these young players both d and forwards can form bonds and become a more cohesive unit. Over the next two seasons I expect to see a steady improvement. I expect to see Dach take a more leadership role. I expect to see Dach from the Bubble where he scored 6 points in 9 games the same number as DeBrincat. Instead of wins and loses our progress should be based on team play. as that iw what wins championships.

I want to see if the team play gets any better, cuz if it doesn't, it is gonna be time to try a different approach...

you can likely scratch #35 logan mailloux from the list. he got into some trouble playing in sweden. he took a gal's photo while they were having sex (w/o her consent) and sent it to some of his team mates. silly bugger.

Instead of wins and loses our progress should be based on team play. as that iw what wins championships. I needed jolt of positivity with the team and in general.....thanks! Dach's development is as much in the hands of JC as it is SB and I thought too much was a asked of the kid after what seemed like a fairly quick return after a serious injury but if the doc's say he's ready, you put him in. I think JT's return could help Dach and he's still a very talented, very young player who has shown all the necessary tools and improvements in his development like the bubble play you mentioned. I'd still like to see him slotted against lesser centers and work his way up,it'd be good for his confidence at the dot. I was as big a fan of Lankinen as anyone after his WC performance and the staff slotting him behind the other two was missed assessment IMO. I know the other two had some games under their belts but Lanks was the better GT by far(and I said so)and he just needed the opportunity. I believe a year with CC would have done Lanks a lot more good than a year with two mediocre back-ups. A vet goaltender to talk with and compare notes with helps younger goaltenders IMO and CC coulda took about half the starts and some of the tougher starts to keep the kid confident. A large number of rookies did see time last year and I'd like to see Beaudin and Mitchell get a lot more ice time but I'm not sure they will with the arrivals of Stillman and Jones. You're right about wins and losses not mattering as much as good player development,I hope management sees things the same way but I'm still not sure.

Put in my 2 cents if Wallstedt is there I want him. if not Lucius. If I had any balls I would go with Svechkov, but I dont have any balls Full disclosure I wanted Bouchard over Bo. and I also wanted Mercer last draft. They have to make some hay with the 2 picks in the second.

These instances can be devastating to the young victim who I hope sues the F out of him, let's hope she can just go about her life and learn from it too but that doesn't usually happen. How many people were those pics shared with and how many phones are they still on................can't forget the victim here. I'd also put my money on the statement being written by his legal team......sure sounds like it.

Although my boy is 10 and I’d have absolutely no problem blackening my kids eyes if he did that. But that’s me. The Hawks have jumped on the list of teams to say they won’t take him. I guess they kinda had to, you know……… ahem….. ahem. But this kid more than likely screwed himself out of his dream, and maybe rightfully so. It’s hard to get drafted the 2nd time around. But it’s a tough lesson, maybe it’s a learning curve for kids in the future. Part of his punishment should be to talk to kids at high schools and other avenues to push this subject and how it ruined his life, and destroyed hers. I give him credit for owning it. But he’s got a ways to go to prove himself worthy!!!

The victim, then an 18-year-old female, was not a minor at the time of the incident. Daily Faceoff does not identify victims in sex-related crimes.
According to a 48-page investigation report from Sweden’s North Region Polisen, which was obtained by Daily Faceoff, Mailloux secretly photographed the victim without her consent or knowledge while engaging in oral sex.
The next day, Mailloux shared the photo in the SK Lejon team group chat on SnapChat during a bus ride to a road game. According to the investigation, the victim was not identified in the photo. A witness interviewed said in the investigation that the photo only made visible “the hair of the girl … you saw that it was a girl, and you glimpsed bra straps,” according to the report.
But when Mailloux shared the photo to SK Lejon teammates, according to the report, he also sent a screenshot of the victim’s online profile, which identified her to teammates by displaying her photo, first name and age.
I dont usually comment on non hockey stuff but I got 2 girls. He can go find another dream. He will be playing for the Knights(maybe) this girl will be dealing with this forever.
