Anyways...a new era has begun. At minimum, it can't be worse than the last half a dozen years. Hopefully. What a waste of time the interview circus was. It would be hard to believe the 3 ex-players that were consulted didn't recommend a hockey guy. Agreed, with all of the bright minds out there and they hired a firm to do an exhausted search, and this is what we get, disappointing does not do justice here. |

It is a very disappointing result and hard to trust the powers that be after all the hoopla. I just hope Davidson is allowed to have some authority and can become a bona fide GM in his own right. Wish there were some way of hearing the honest to God truth from an Edzo or a Sharp on their opinion of Davidson. Doubt that will happen so we'll just have to see how this unfolds. ![]() |

really? i don't know man. you don't win 3 cups by luck, or being that dumb, unless he's just recently became dumb. what i've seen lately that could be a possibility, actually. Rocky had nada to do with those 3 Cups, other than funding the team and allowing them to spend to the max during The Run. so, in a way, he kinda did win them by luck, the team's core was assembled before he even arrived on the scene. lest we forget how his father was. and his grandfather. he is a business man and right now business isn't great. attendance is sagging. which means less tickets sold, less concessions sold, and less merchandise sold. on top of that, there is the black cloud of the scandal hanging overhead, with 2 settlements to pay and likely more to come, unless he really wants to try and fight those in the public eye (highly doubtful). so, being a business man, I'm sure the thought process now isn't spend to the max like before. it's going to be cut costs whenever possible. while a GM likely doesn't cost too much, it is still saving dollars and cents. of course, there is the idea that you have to spend money to make money. pay for the best and brightest and hope they bring the glory back quicker, which in turn fills the coffers quicker... but he and his family have never seemed to keen on that idea, in my opinion. so, with the idea that a rebuild will take a while, it is time to start cutting costs... The pieces were already in place when Rocky inherited the team,putting home games on TV was a gimmie.............every other team had been doing it for decades. Rocky was a MAJOR part of the 2010 team and it's face at every home game when he drank in the admiration...........he knew about the scandal......he's a liar and his townhowl performance proves it. KD will come cheap and no Pres of hockey opps comes even cheaper and what can King make? Does he stay? |

honestly, this is part of the reason it surprised me they went with him. considering all that's gone on, you'd think they'd want to move on from anyone associated with the previous regime... can't argue with that. the press conference in a day or 2 will be interesting. hopefully rocky is gagged and bound somewhere. Ok here is the Question I want asked all I hear about is changing the culture 1) What is wrong with the culture 2) Isnt someone who has been part of the Org since 2012 part of the culture you want to change. Just my 2cents |

Heard 3 or 5 year rebuild, we are going to do it the right way, no timeline we will stick to plan. Heard that King made the locker more fun place to be, and he will be looking for an 'elite communicator" in the next head coach which King will be part of that process. He said there are some foundation things/steps that need to be put in place but did not elaborate. Sounds like the advisory team was supportive and confirmed the decision to some degree. Not sure what the presser means now, but will should get some indication with the TDL and draft coming up. Interesting comments about JT and Kaner which he said they are important pieces to organization, and he had brief conversations no assurances that they will be part of the future, only there will be no surprises.

Perhaps they did recommend something else, that Rocky and Danny listened, but then they selected the guy that they wanted to pay to be the GM. But we will never know now. If you asked any of those three what the process was like or what they actually recommended, I'd bet dollars to donuts that you would only hear positive comments about how great KD is going to be for the team. It's called "being a team Player". |

The best part of today's presser the mean old man did not go off any reporters  (only one question) Like night and day when Daniel speaks than old Rocky, much more polished, articulate and thoughtful when he speaks. Not sure that will translate into a successful hockey CEO, but a much more professional demeanor and tone. Good Luck KD, now start the plan already. |

I liked KD response to question at the 27:20 mark and in a real nice way he explained what most of us have been saying there is alot of work from top to bottom every area needs to be rebuilt not just the team
Then got scared at the 31:00 mark when he was talking about next coach being a great communicator we heard that over and over with last coach. Ill take good communicator for 2-3 years after that, im old school easy to communicate
with ice time. He knows its a mess he has his own plan time will tell. Dunc back in the house Thursday!!!!!

As some have said, KD deserves to be given a chance because the fans/observers have no other choice, but the task is monumental and there is no real reason to think that success will show up in just a few years.
