not upset about Kelly being shown the door at all, tbh. the scouting department needs an overhaul and a bunch of booze money poured into it... Or just booze!!!

I know it's distasteful to cheer when someone loses his job. But today's announcements re Mark Kelley and Ryan Stewart needed to be made.
These were the guys feeding Little Stan the bad advice for the past decade plus.
This guy Davidson so far has made some pretty gutsy moves.

Only if they get the 1st or 2nd pick this year, if not it's the BJs pick. I think this is why he wants to keep Flower this year. Although Shane Wright is a solid player. He’s not like Bedard. I think the plan is to give the BJs this years pick. Because next year is 100% rebuilding. And if the Hawks had to give away a top 2 pick next year. It’d be absolutely devastating. Even if the Hawks end up with the 2nd overall this year. It’s probably best to trade that to the BJs for next years pick back. I don’t believe you’ll be getting a generational player this year. And with a full rebuild coming, I doubt the Hawks will make much noise in the standings for the next few years!!!

I know. that's why I don't want to win it this year. the last thing I want is to lose a top 5-10 pick in the loaded 2023 draft for a top pick in this year's mediocre draft... I'd rather we win the lotto next season.

Makes sense, keeping Fleury gives them better odds of drafting just outside of the top10 and with this draft not as strong as next years that's the pick we want the BJs to have. And I'm ok having a few down years now that we have a GM who wants to do this right. I'd rather see a young team take their lumps and learn than having older guys like Gus as fillers.

If Gus doesn’t go. I’d bring him back on the cheap. He’s not good, but he can help in the vet dept and in the race to the bottom. Especially for b stuff year. I feel 2 really bad years are needed. And two top ten draft years are needed. Use cap space to pry young kids out of other orgs. Kinda like how Teravainen was taken from here. I think the Hawks can get a couple future core players. Plus other trades and our picks. I think it’s a 3-5 year plan. Maybe longer if it doesn’t necessarily work. Priority should be next years draft. Very strong draft. Tank next year and give the keys to the kids. See which ones stick and which ones are expendable assets. #Fall hard for Bedard!!!

If that was the case they would've drafted Dobson or Bouchard over Boqvist, Kelley said they were the safer bets. And after watching "On the Clock" since they started them it seemed like the old gm didn't listen to them often, especially in the 1st round. Kelley liked Byram but they took Dach. Not defending Kelley, just pointing out how stubborn the old gm was. But that's in the past, lets hope Davidson learned a lot from the many past mistakes.

He's got a tough road forward and we probably won't be happy with every move. Hopefully cleaning out some of the old guard will be a good start. There are probably some old timers in the org who have trouble respecting a young guy like this.

Kelley was probably the most troubled with the young guy being named the GM, smart move by KD to fire him. Gotta keep it going and clean house on and off the ice. It's rare for a GM to make moves that the fans always like, lets just hope we like more than we don't. The old GM set a low bar.

I'm pretty sure somebody's kid can replace Kelley! LOFL!
Whatever man,it's KD's team now. Does 'La Familia' allow him to make the decisions as far as moving the vets? Can he move D-Cat or Kane/Toews w/o Danny's approval? Does he honor SB's agreement w/MAF?
I would have preferred an experienced Pres of hockey opps with the new inexperienced GM but it appears experienced hockey guys need not apply here.
It'd be great to get that SQUANDERED 1st round pick back some way, even a late rounder. No pick in round 1 is a hell of a way for a new GM to start his rebuild.

Yeah - we should have a lot to talk about in the coming days, weeks, months and years as some of these questions get answered! I can't think Danny would want to fire the new GM so soon after the "exhaustive" search so KD may have more rope than we think - at least for a while. But as you have said in previous posts, does the old man have the stomach for 2 or 3 (or more) seasons of really bad teams and the loss of name players?

Let's get the new bar going - and soon - or I will need to head to a bar. With the associate GM being named there should be some trades soon. Norm will oversee all scouting and I like how KD said Maciver isn't afraid to speak his mind and he welcomes that, very refreshing considering the past guy. Being a part of Seattles inaugural season he's done a lot of scouting so he's a good person to have for a rebuild.

Obviously he left because Stanbo would'nt listen to him and shut him out. Stanbo only wanted yes people and MacIver is not a yes person. Stanbo had to run the show and everyone else had to toe the line and agree with him or they were out. So sos so glad the clown who had no clue about hockey is gone gone gone.

a bit fluffy, but a couple nuggets in there that at least sound good. really like that he is not looking for yes-men (even though he could be full of shit and just saying what he thinks everyone wants to hear). that was a good read. agree, a bit fluffy but that's pretty much the norm. and yeah...i hope he's sincere. until he shows otherwise,i'm just going to assume he is. forgot about the keith trade where oiler's pick to us turns from a 3rd into a 2nd if they make the SCF and DK is top 4 in minutes among their D. i hope tincup and OTH get out there wearing their oiler gear and cheering hard for edmonton in the playoffs. : D
