among goalies who have played 15 or more games, arvid's dead last in GAA and second last in save %. he's basically been thrown to the wolves this year...on most other teams he'd have been farmed out a long time ago. still another year on his contract. what do we do with him next year? indy fuel? i hate giving up on young players like him but i just don't see a path forward for him here...barring a miracle. blackhawkup.com/posts/chicago-blackhawks-need-move-arvid-soderblom-season

Having said that, Lakinen, who also looked pretty dismal with the Hawks, appears to be serviceable as a backup with the Preds. So, I would say that Arvid's save% needs to be adjusted by some multiplier, say 1.1, and his GAA lowered by about 20% to account for the horrid team that he is on.

Analytics or not. The eye test says Soderblom is not NHL material at this point. He had a year to show something and he showed nothing. He won’t be back in the organization!!!

Not a good start in Chicago, that opens the door for Commesso, Soderblom or someone else.

annnnnndddd this could've been Askarov's shot... sonofabitch! I'm going to be sooo salty if, years down the road, we get a Bedard v Celebrini matchup and we lose cuz of the sharks goaltending...

I doubt Nashville wants him in their division. It would've been nice getting Askarov but his numbers weren't much better than Commessos, they're both 22 and Askarov had a season of pro under his belt.

So was he hiding his injury until he signed somewhere, or did the Hawks realize they were getting damaged goods? Seems the former otherwise he should have been fixed up already.

I think both Pope and Charlie R said it would likely be soder and I think it likely will as a show of faith to him. Man...I can't envision it but wouldn't it be nice if the southern bloom got his MOJO back? Or did he ever have MOJO to begin with?

I sure hope he wasn't hiding something, be a pretty shifty thing to do. Myself I can't see it but who knows? Hopefully he just slipped stepping out of the shower.

His last two seasons in Sweden his save percentage was over .920, first season in Rockford it was .919, lots of MOJO. Then his numbers dropped the past two seasons, a lot, so hopefully he finds his MOJO again.

I hope Soda is ready for some more NHL action, cuz he is gonna get it with two injury prone goalies on the big team.

Has he been off the ice since then? a few days back he was supposed to join the hawks in SJ but didn't join the hawks at all on the road trip. had his surgery august 28th with a 5-7 week timeline. today it's exactly 10 weeks and a day since his surgery. he had been skating at some point but i'm guessing he had some kind of setback. we're lucky soderblom seems to have found his game again.

I'm going to assume they had him skating before this without pads.

yes...the sample size is a bit on the light side, but i just did not see this coming from him this year. especially considering last year his .880 was second worst in the league (20 games minimum played), only raanta's .872 was worse.
hell, if he can keep this up and brossoit is halfway decent, mrazek could fetch a nice return at the trade deadline.
