Good article. I hope both stay healthy, and Soderblom can spend the whole year in Rockford.

It’s gotta be a bit of a horse pill to swallow knowing that you were brought in to aid a tank job. I’m not sure Mrazek enjoys this very much!!!

Let's see how he feels when the red light behind him burns a spot on the back of his neck.

It will feel alot better than getting blisters on his ass sitting on the bench. With the team going back to the more tradition defensive scheme that the d-men grew up playing plus the fact that the new HC was a physical no nonsense type and with the team bulking up on d I can see a significant decrease in shots thereby lowering scoring chances. Our biggest problem will be scoring.

Not just him everyone on that team know why they are there. Probably. Some guys like Domi or AA are probably just happy to make 3 bananas one more time. They needed a chance but we’re probably only worth 1. Hawks had cap issues and overpaid just to make sure they were at the floor!!!

Meanwhile hopefully Commesso has a great year at BU! commesso's wearing an "A" for BU this season. pretty rare. i didn't recall a goalie ever lettering until google reminded me that 7uongo was given the "C" for the canucks in 2008. before that the last goalie to captain was in 1947/48. anyways, good news for the hawks that BU thinks enough of his leadership skills to give him that responsibility.

I hope they give Commesso at least a year in Rockford. Just out of curiosity, how big is the ice size at BU? IOW, how does it compare to an NHL size rink?

How about a goalie with this kind of panache?

Very likely Soderblom will get some opportunity. I know it’s best for him to play in Rockford but can Mrazek and Stalock last 82 games? Doubtful I would say. . .

Yes both Mrazek and Stalock not going to threaten Glenn Hall streak of 500+ consecutive game starts (all or most without a mask I believe), pretty remarkable. Also, back in the day they were taking trains to some cities and not flying charter and staying in 4 or 5 star accommodations. Not even going to include all the nutrition, training and modern medical science goalies of today enjoy.

Mrazek, Stauber, Stalock and then Soderblom. Can any fetch something worthwhile in the market now? If not - what will the lineup look like next season?

Stauber and Soderblom are both 23 while Mrazek and Stalock are 30 and 35 respectively,I'd think a rebuilding team would go with their young GT's but who knows.

I'm not sure the goalie matters at this point of the rebuild. They're still in the tear down phase. Why subject these young goalies to abuse. These 2 may or may not be their future goalies when the time comes. Crow only played 8 games over 5 seasons with the Hawks before becoming the starter in 2010/2011. 2 of those years he didn't play any games here, just in Rockford.

I hoped the tear down was done after losing all the good, young players from last year but I guess not. Does it even start next year or will we see even more vets to avoid abusing our young guys?

CC wasnt the starter in the beginning of the 10/11 season. Wasnt it Turco? Interpret it the way you want, either Bowman didnt believe CC is a legit #1 and was only next in line because Niemi signed with the Sharks so he brought in Turco…. OR Bowman wanted to “protect” CC and not throw him to the wolves, signed Turco as a buffer
Either choice, CC came out as a hall of famer goalie

Considering KD filled a lot of spots with older guys on 1yr contracts during Toews and Kanes last year of their contracts, I say the tear down is done after this trade deadline and draft. Next season the majority of the roster should be younger players. Mrazek and Stalock won't be here and guys like Soderblom, Commesso, Stauber, Basse, Weeks, etc can fight for the spot.

And at his stage of his career Turc must've known he wasn't the starter.

I recall Q "riding" Crow down the stretch that season including back to backs as the Hawks were fighting to make the playoffs which they did get in and took Vancouver to OT in game 7 after being down 3 to 0. Nice pass from Campoli to Burrows Edit: Should be season not reason
