If playing with a friend and great linemate is paramount for PK then so be it. Dallas will likely again be borderline for playoffs even with Kane so doubt any cup raising will be happening. As with 19, hard to know what drives him at this stage of his career.

Is 23yro Ottinger the 1.81/.954 GT we saw in the PO's,he's off to a solid start and the Stars have to get him signed but they have 21 guys signed with 11.4M remaining and their 1st and 2nd in next year's draft. Mason Marchment is a nice, hard working addition for them but we have to see how the loss of Klingberg effects them too. They lose Khodobin's 2.2M buyout after next year and Pavelski's 5.5M too if they let him walk,so they'd have plenty of room to offer Kane a nice deal.

As with 19, hard to know what drives him at this stage of his career. I prefer for them to stay. Here’s why. Not for the upcoming season. But for the future. If they’re on board for a total tank job this year, and can accept that. Cool. They could be granted extra time off for recovery, maybe miss a road trip here or there. And take care of themselves and not worry about being over taxed. Maybe Kane can handle that the Hawks will give him some time off to help the tank, and also help his body last another few good years. Get a top pick in 2023. And start to integrate the youngens in. I’d love to see a top 6 in 23/24 of Toews, Kane, Bedard, Reichel, Kurashev and Raddysh. Not the best. But definitely a step in the right direction. And it is an improvement. Then the year after. Bring in Nazar and Korchinski and a couple others to the mix. In 2-3 years this team could look massively different and better. But they need the 2 leaders to lead the way. If they could get on board with a plan similar to that. It’d be the best case scenario!!!

Kane played with Seguin in Europe the year there was a lockout/strike and it was said here Pavelski is a buddy. We know Kane likes playing with other like minded forwards like Panarin, D-cat etc so if he asks to be traded I think it would be somewhere that has players he either knows or is pretty sure he would gel with. I mean he would make any team better but just from his viewpoint of what he would like to do in the next couple of years.

August is a s-l-o-w month for hockey news. Will try to watch some of the WJCs but otherwise it’s just speculating on who might do what.

We know it'll be a tough season but it'll be good to see a lot of young guys playing. Reese Johnson and Entwistle will get bigger roles and I'm sure Vlasic will be a regular. Plus big Luke and a better system will be a relief to the style they've played since Q left.

I'm high on Vlassic....he's definitely top 4 material, it they don't screw up his development.

I am curious on how Luke’s approach changes the way they play - plus seeing some of the development of the younger players. And yes - Vlasic does look promising.

All I’m looking for next year is for the Hawks to stick up for each other. Enough getting run out of the rink. The team can lose every game. But don’t get run over on a shift by shift basis!!!

August is a s-l-o-w month for hockey news. not joking, i just listened to an interview on twitter that chris voster's mom gives. i'm saving it for later when we're firmly entrenched in the late august doldrums...when anything blackhawk related will seem interesting.

While true and needed to happen, it's just Kessler. That's like beating down Carcillo. His dad took on Probert. There's a drop off there... He can still takes some lessons from his dad.

This should probably be in the Toews thread but talking about Kessler has reminded me how JT had to play him, had to play Backes and many other royal pains in the butt. Plus the Bergerons and other talented centers every game too. That does not even include going into the corners with the league’s best D-men too. Pretty amazing really.

Ultimate warrior, leader and will help you WIN. Speaking of Bergeron, going back to 2013 finals both were knocked out of a game and Johhny came back for the third period sat on the bench the whole time but was helping and leading his teammates to another win with his mere presence and ultimately helped win the 2nd cup with that big goal in game six to tie at 1 and the sweet pass to Bickell to tie at 2. Same with Bergeron went to hospital on a stretcher and played the next game. I know Johnny fought Backes (just to get his team going), not sure about Kessler, but they sure had their battles.

I wasn't sure if this was already on here somewhere though I didn't see it. I also wasn't sure if this is where it should go but it's something that will be happening in the offseason. Lukas Reichel is scheduled to participate in the NHLPA Rookie Showcase on Sept. 6 in D.C. There's some big names slated to be in it, such as Owen Power, Slavkosky, Shane Wright, among others. www.nhlpa.com/news/1-22363/2022-nhlpa-rookie-showcase-returns-sept-6-to-washington-dc

Well. there's nothing I can point my finger at, but I'm starting to get the feeling that this team Kyle is putting together won't be dead last. Sigh.

Problem with all those teams are that I don’t believe Kane would go to 3 of them. And the 4th is Colorado whom has 4 picks in 2023 and 2024. So with only 8 picks in 2 years. Do they give up any of that plus a good young player or 2? I doubt it. They’re quite strong and very well could repeat with just promoting kids. Detroit? Will never happen. Why would Kane waive his NMC for a team that’s still kinda rebuilding? I don’t see the logic there. Same goes for Buffalo. If he leaves Chicago for a better team, wouldn’t he want a Cup contender? Why leave to be in the same situation as Chicago? And the Leaves just don’t have the space. They’d ask the Hawks to take back a contract or 2. Their 1st rounders are going to be meh, Hawks would be forced to eat half of Kane’s deal. Plus take back a bad contract for a late first, a 2nd and say Robertson? I don’t think that’s worth it, even in a deep draft year. However I could see the Hawks looking to LA or Pitt, or Florida. I do think there’s a deal there. Dallas? I wouldn’t rule out Ottawa. Dcat and Kane are best friends. Maybe Kane accepts to go there and play with the Cat? Ya never know!!!

Not sure if there is any inside information with this article or just speculation. it's really hard to say. i posted something off twitter that speculated him going to columbus, edmonton, dallas or toronto among others. rumors, rumors, rumors but nothing of substance. it's be tough being a hockey writer this time of year. hell...it's hard enough to find something worthwhile to post here even. : ) even this picture from some random guy made small waves a day or 2 ago. it got mentioned on zawaski's podcast but they didn't take it seriously as they shouldn't. hell...we don't even know if it was kane or if the pic was indeed taken when it was. but the guy "atted" it to friedman, seravalli, spittin chiclets along with the twitter pages of chicago and the 5 nhl teams mentioned....trying to gain a bit of notoriety i suspect. i think this time of year you got to take rumors with a grain of salt the size of a volleyball. but the rumors and speculation are still fun to read though.
