Not sure if there is any inside information with this article or just speculation. it's really hard to say. i posted something off twitter that speculated him going to columbus, edmonton, dallas or toronto among others. rumors, rumors, rumors but nothing of substance. it's be tough being a hockey writer this time of year. hell...it's hard enough to find something worthwhile to post here even. : ) even this picture from some random guy made small waves a day or 2 ago. it got mentioned on zawaski's podcast but they didn't take it seriously as they shouldn't. hell...we don't even know if it was kane or if the pic was indeed taken when it was. but the guy "atted" it to friedman, seravalli, spittin chiclets along with the twitter pages of chicago and the 5 nhl teams mentioned....trying to gain a bit of notoriety i suspect. i think this time of year you got to take rumors with a grain of salt the size of a volleyball. but the rumors and speculation are still fun to read though. Maybe he's going to NY 🤔

Right now. I e gotta take Kane at his word. He said that he wants to see how the season goes. I think he will. Unless KD isn’t willing to sign either of them after this year, I don’t see them 💯 wanting out!!!

Dumb question but what’s the difference between a moderator and an administrator?

Dumb question but what’s the difference between a moderator and an administrator? Mods can do certain things with posts and threads, like move them or edit them. But they can't ban anyone, that's just gt or me.

It is now September 1st. Patrick Kane is still here, and it seems like he intends to stay.
This does not surprise me.
But it is telling. For a player with a young family, the ideal time to make a move is early in the off-season. Pulling up stakes, moving to a new city, and finding a suitable house to live in is disruptive and takes time.
Clearly, Kane is reluctant. But is he resigned to this possible change?
What appears more and more likely is that Kane intends to wait it out until trade deadline. The move then to a contender would be very temporary and less disruptive. His family could live for a few months in a hotel before deciding where to settle long term after the UFA season.
Why this matters? First, my guess is that Kane's trade value peaks next February when more teams can get involved in a potential bidding war. Second, Kane's continued presence likely will help improve Toews' trade value, especially if both play on the same line as expected. Third, Kane is more likely to re-sign with the Hawks next summer if his pit stop with a contender is brief. He won't need to move out of his Chicago home.
I do think Kane and Toews both will be traded in February. But I am also beginning to suspect that one or both will return to the team over next summer.

I think they already have their retirement home planned. And it damn well won't be in this city. Maybe Kane will retire to the Buffalo area with his family? He does have a house there. I lean more Florida or Arizona. I don't think Toews comes back until it's number retirement ceremony night.

Does Kane and his family not live in Chicago most of the year? Where is his girlfriend from?
I understand he has a summer place in Buffalo, but he also developed some real local ties. Many Blackhawk stars from previous eras - ie Esposito, Mikita, Hull, Savard etc - maintained a long-term relationship with Chicago long after their careers.
If the Hawks do land one of the young phenom forwards from next year's draft, and if Davidson commits to immediate improvement next off-season (by signing some UFAs), Kane and Toews might choose to return and finish their careers here.
If this year the intended nadir? If Toews and Kane sign elsewhere next off-season, it might not be.

I looked up Kane's girlfriend (the mother of his child). She is from Chicago and has a professional career in the city.

It is possible 88 loves it here spends most of his time here. Lots will be answered first couple months. What he thinks about Luke and maybe his belief in KD. I think 88 will play 5 more years he is also the type that is always practicing and living hockey with that type of guy it’s good to be some where , that mommy has a good support system. Even his parents live in Fla during the nhl season . So much we don’t know he is a smart kid but I would assume this will not be easy decisions for him

The rental scenario whereby Kane and Toews leave in February and Hawks get picks and/or prospects and then they return to Chicago and re-sign for 3-5 years sounds wonderful - almost Hallmarkish. But I would love to see that happen.

there is certainly a lot of Kane talk lately... seems like click bait. I am sure that has not stopped GM's from asking or inquiring. All of these rumors cannot be just made up. I do believe as some have alluded to that come the TDL it will heat up with more teams involved which should drive the return up plus any money or cap owed will be drastically reduced.

I would have to think trades have been discussed with multiple teams. Now, whether that ever comes to fruition is another thing. It would be foolish for KD to sit on his hands and just say they don’t want to move. Teams will know where they stand and what they’re looking for.
Also, teams must realize that trading legends is never easy. KD would have to get a boat load back. And I’m sure he’s expressed this to teams. The fans will eat him up if Toews was moved for a 2nd rounder and a prospect!!!
