Not a lot of secondary scoring right now. Where’s Teply, Hardman, Slavin et al. These guys had good seasons a year ago and sure seem to have been backsliding.

Bit of a bounce back for Soderblum though.

Guttman puts on a nice move to score his goal. The play starts about :54. Guttman is now only one goal behind Reichel in five fewer games. Galvas leads all d-men in assists. It was nice to see Soderblom have a good game, although I'll bet he'd like to have the first Iowa goal back.

I know the video was posted earlier but in case you haven't seen it, watch Slavin's goal at 6:42. That was probably the best highlight for Rockford. It was nice to see Reichel and Galvas with two assists each, although I'd like to see Reichel start scoring some goals.

Hogs captain Mitchell had surgery on his shoulder and he's done for the season and Buddy Robinson has a fractured wrist and he's out 6 weeks.

The good parts for Rockford: Soderblom bouncing back. Two of the goals he gave up were on breakaways; one in OT, and the other on the dreaded player comes out of the penalty box behind the defense, gets a stretch pass and no defender close enough to catch him. Vlasic and Galvas getting an assist apiece; Galvas now has 21 a's in 40 games, Vlasic has 7.
The bad parts: Reichel with goose eggs; 0 goals, 0 assists, 0 shots. The Rockford offense taking the night off; they had only 19 shots on goal. The IceHogs unable to hold the lead. They led 1-0 and 2-1 but the Wolves tied it up each time. Soderblom kept them in it, though he did allow the OT goal.

Their offense has been so up and down this year, mostly down. That's so true. It's amazing how Rockford can be up and down from game to game. Last night, on the 28th, they only get 19 shots on goal, yet just two nights ago, on Friday the 27th, they got 35 shots on goal. And Friday's opponent is in second place, only 3 pts. behind the leader in the the IceHog's division, while last night's opponent, the Wolves, are under .500 and tied for last place.

This game was the Battle of the Reichels.
It's nice to see a win but hopefully the IceHogs offense will start catching some fire. It's been consistent lately but in the wrong direction. I looked at their results and if you look only at goals in regulation, including OT, they've scored no more than two goals in 10 out the last 11 games. And they've lost nine of the last eleven. They scored four in one of the games, but the rest have been either just one or two goals only in 60 or 65 min. Unfortunately it leaves the goalies with almost no room for error.
I think they now have everybody back, so maybe scoring will pick up.

GT, if I read right, teams qualify for the playoffs based on their points percentage and not the actual number of points. Being fifth in pp, right now Rockford would play the Manitoba Moose in a 3 game series, with the Moose getting home ice advantage, and the winner gets to play the top seed next. You're right, Rockford needs to string some wins together and move up. It was good to see a win. It made Soderblom's second good game in a row, and good to see Reichel get a goal. Maybe Soderblom is starting to gain consistency at the right time, and maybe Reichel's goals will start picking up. Unfortunately, this game also continued the trend of two goals or less in regulation; that now makes 11 games out of the last 12 with two or less regulation goals. And their lack of offense has coincided with their slide down the standings. But at least they got the two points.

GT, if I read right, teams qualify for the playoffs based on their points percentage and not the actual number of points. Being fifth in pp, right now Rockford would play the Manitoba Moose in a 3 game series, with the Moose getting home ice advantage, and the winner gets to play the top seed next. if every team in a league plays the same amount of games at the end of a season, going by points or points percentage makes no difference. i suppose if a league has to suspend a season early with all teams playing different numbers of games would points percentage be the deciding factor. i'm not going to say who the hogs would play first because it makes my head hurt this early in the morning but here's the AHL playoff format. it's not quite as easy to understand as the one in the NHL. keep in mind the pacific division has 10 teams, the atlantic 8, and the central and north divisions 7 teams each. Playoff qualification will include:
Top six finishers in the eight-team Atlantic Division. Top five finishers in the seven-team North and Central Divisions. Top seven teams in the ten-team Pacific Division. There will be five rounds of playoffs with First Round match-ups as best-of-three series. The two highest seeds in the Atlantic, the three highest seeds in each of the North and Central, and the first-place team in the Pacific will receive byes into the best-of-five Division Semifinals, with the First Round winners re-seeded in each division. The Division Finals will also be best-of-five series, followed by best-of-seven Conference Finals and a best-of-seven Calder Cup Finals series.ukhockeyfan.co.uk/2022/07/22/ahl-announces-2022-23-schedule-divisional-alignment-and-playoff-format/

actually they're 4th in the central in points and 5th in points percentage. in the western conference they're 8th in points and 10th in points percentage. they gotta' start stringing a few more wins together. There just not that good and there is only 1 forward who will be part of rebuild. There better players are career AHL players. No improvement in your own players,Slavin Hardman Temply. The need for them to start to win is next year if players come there Commesso and other, but in reality 2 years we start to see a lot of the kids there then everything needs to be in place.

That's the problem, lack of good forward depth, that's why KD drafted 8 forwards last draft and signed guys like Sikura, Philp, Gust, Seney, to give them some help up front this season but it's not working to well. This draft will be forward heavy as well and in a season or 2 KDs draft picks will start to become pro players.
