I'm out from my 10 days of hell without internet!
We should have a thread to guess the Hawks record by seasons end. Winner gets bragging rights. Thread gets locked on opening night, and re-opened day after season ends. Would be fun how close any of us get.

i'm going to go 24 wins 47 losses and 11 overtime losses for a tidy .360 points percentage and 59 points.
good for second worst ahead of arizona.
edit: ch-ch-ch-changes.
18 wins, 53 losses and 11 o/t losses.

I believe you are correct..Ariz just has too much experience in tanking. I think the only chance we have to win the connor bedard sweepstakes is for Kaner to bail, and we give all the prospects their 9 games in the bigs. AND we get lucky.

kane rumors seem to be gaining traction although this time of year it's entirely within reason to believe stories like this could be overblown due to the lack of real news. and really...in the blurb below there isn't really anything concrete in it. and yes...we're going to need lady luck on our side no matter where we finish.

23-48-11=57pts, hopefully it puts them in the bottom 3 and they win the Bedard lotto.
But with Lukes new style they won't get embarrassed a lot and most games will be tough fought and close.

19 - 54 - 9 = 47 points
Combination of rookie head coach, lesser quality in goal, and so many new faces that will lead to lack of chemistry and familiarity.

I predict plenty of low scoring tight-checking games decided by a goal in overtime.
Opposing teams will lazily sit back and wait. Without Debrincat (and likely Kane), this team will not do well 3 on 3.

27-45-10. They will catch some teams loafing or travel weary but just don’t have enough offense to put teams away.

25-45-12. I do not believe they finish last, hopefully bottom 3. I think they will play hard and with an improved defense and coaching should be competitive most games.

21-45-16 good enough for 2nd to last but they will draft 4th. Think about this with 21 wins that’s about 3 wins per month good grief. The rest I-have no idea everyone seems to think they will play harder but that’s not really saying much , I would assume they will be in the box a lot just trying To defend all the time. I just want the forwards competing every shift, they take a shift off they sit. I would assume I’ll start watching more Hogs maybe Ahl package I’ll have to look into that won’t be here for Nov 19 hogs - wolves but it would be fun to get together for one of those games buckle up gonna be a bumpy ride

A 28-42-12 team that finished 27th with 68 points loses DeBrincat,Strome,Kubalik and Dach and their 87 goals/184 points last year and replaces that with AA,Domi and Blackwell and their 32 goals/71 points last year,MAF with Mrazek and deHAAN's 4th best 172 blocks with Johnson.
I have to wonder what Kane's #'s look like w/o a single, consistant goal scorer to set up and nobody but JT to set him up IF they play together but I have to think both will be looking for #'s in their contract years.......if that even matters.
I see 20-25 W's and I'll predict 58 points when it's all said n done.

How do the fine folk of this board think Arizona will do? I could really see them tanking and selecting 1st. They’ve got a potential new arena to fill. They could also sign Mathews in 2024. They could be looking good in a couple years!!!

They could be looking good in a couple years!!! If the Yotes get a new arena in time for Matthews, (2024-2025), they need to get a deal done in the next few months. Going to take at least a year and a half to two years to build it. I wonder what other team would be allowed to play in a 6K seat venue? I doubt many. This was the last news I saw about a new arena . www.espn.com/nhl/story/_/id/34102562/arizona-coyotes-plan-privately-finance-new-arena-entertainment-district-team-president-ceo-says

It might be fun for fans to see games in a smaller venue - I don’t know.

I'll just predict 21 wins. I'm not sure what total points to say.
My son lives in Scottsdale and he is wondering how much tickets will be. They may be a hot item for the true hockey fans that live in the area. Placing the former rink in Glendale was a big miscalculation, as most people who attend hockey games don't live in the west suburbs.

I watch my Spitfires in a 6500 seat arena. The sight lines are amazing and there’s not a bad seat in the house. But it’s Jr hockey.
Detroits Little Caesars arena is an engineering marvel. But the seating is really not there. The lower bowl is probably 70% of the seating. The rest is way the hell up there and the sight lines are awful. The lower bowl is the most expensive obviously. But to go to a game and pay 125$ US for a single ticket for the worst part of the lower bowl, is kinda pointless. Upper lever (200) is 60-90$. It’s just too expensive for the average family anymore. For a good seat it’s around 200$+.
I would rather watch the game on crystal clear 4K instead of spending 80$+ for seats I have no desire to sit in!!!

Grand Rapids Griffins have a great venue for hockey too. I think it seats more than 6500 but you feel close to the ice wherever you sit.

As the Sun's Ben Pope mentions, Davidson does control the situation to a degree.
He can move out veteran players early - and I believe Connor Murphy would be the first guy to go. He can also overcook some of the prospects in Rockford, including and maybe in particular Lucas Reichel.
I do think this concern is legitimate. The team has many potentially very motivated veteran players on the last year of contracts. There are also a number of young players attempting to establish their games. This team will be terrible, but will it be terrible enough?
