I was never sold on the physical therapy and rest solution for the promising 23yro after watching him injure the same shoulder only five games in this year on a F'n faceoff and it only took a 'bump' to injury it again. he will have surgery this time and seven months till camp should be plenty.
20yro Ridley Greig gets the call-up so that could be fun to watch.

That’s too bad. Really is. Hopefully he comes back stronger than ever. If there’s someone that can miss a season and make it back, it’s a 23 year old. Not my 46 year old frame, that’s not gonna come back in 4 seasons, and beer league to boot!!!

Word is,it's routine surgery with plenty of time to R&R and to train for next September's camp. Any chance Greig's being called-up to showcase? I highly doubt the Sens are a buyer at this point but the Chychrun rumors are heating back up and AZ is demanding a prospect and two 1st's according to the rumor. He is only 24 and checks a HUGE box for them.

I think the Yotes are just trying to make him look like he’s more than he is by asking for the moon and the Kuiper Belt. I think they’d accept Ottawas 1st. It’ll be a decent pick in a deep draft. If there’s a prospect involved, I’m not sure it’ll be a high end prospect. However, I feel that’s the type of move they need. Maybe not that one, but something similar!!!

Chychrun's a big kid, still only 24 and has scored at a .64PpG pace the last three years but his 4.6M for two more really adds a lotta value. Their ask must be too high though,or we'd have seen a move by now, rumor was,AZ wanted two 1st's and 20yro Sanderson and the Sens balked at that some time back.
The F'n Yotes already have EIGHTEEN picks in the first three rounds the next three years........what are the chances anything comes from that considering their track record?

I think we can both agree that 2 firsts plus Sanderson is career suicide. I don’t think the Hawks last guy even would have done that, but ya never know. Even the Yotes draft record is suspect. Hopefully it pans out for them, just not this year! Hopefully the Hawks can add a 2nd and a 3rd rounder plus a good prospect for taking Zaitsev and giving up Mitchell. I think that’d be fair. So let’s see where KD stands in another month!!!

At least the Sens won tonight. They were catching the Hawks for the cellar.

nice first game for ridley greig. primary assist on the eventual GWG and 8 SOG, all in just 13:46 ice time. also 1 hit, 2 blocked shots, 2 takeaways and the game's 3rd star as well.

Not sure whether Sens played great or Leafs didn’t show. If Matthews is gonna miss time - this is the right time to do it with the break coming up etc.

With Talbot injuring another 35yro body part against the Isle Wednesday night,we probably see Forsberg handle the back-back.......I doubt 20yro Kevin Mandolese gets thrown to the dogs.

Nice stretch of hockey for the young Sens before the break. Does 20yro Greig stay up and burn the first year of his ELC as we've seen done with other youngsters lately after another good(two helpers)game?

With the Sens more than likely not making a playoff push. I’m not sure they trade for rentals or even lateral moves. I think they’ll make a move or two in the off-season and get her going. I believe they’ll be looking for an upgrade in net. I don’t believe there to be much on the UFA market this summer. So it’ll probably be a trade. I also think they’ll be looking at a trade for a Dman. Maybe they look at Murphy? He could probably help them. And only 3 years left on his deal. If the Hawks sweetened the deal by retaining 20% or roughly 1 million. Murphy at 3.4 million is a good bargain. And for 3 years. I believe he could fetch a first rounder. But from Ottawa, they’ll probably want to send a 2024 first rounder and keep this years!!!

It looks like GM's want to burn that first year now and make the big decision at a younger age with their top-tier kids. Max deals are always a gamble but this way,you get a few years at the NHL level to assess a kid who's still hopefully improving and won't 'age-out' before the deal ends. I highly doubt the Sens move-out valuable assets this year unless Zaitsev is moved which they really don't need to do till the offseason.......he played a quality 21 minutes the other night too. Murph's reliable in his own end but offers little offense,no PP ability an no rush ability for a fast, young team and three left for 4.4M @29?

You can look it up on Cap Friendly. Do a contract comparison of his contract. You'll see others at that age and ability are par for that money.

He's good in his own end and blocks shots but he's often injured,29 and is offensively challenged,I see him as a 3M D-man when healthy. The Hawks would need to either sweeten or retain $$$ to move him but that much IMO.

Maybe he was pushed into a more offensive role when he shouldn't have been, thus more injuries. Again like I said his numbers defensivly and offensivly are on on par with other D-men at his pay scale. Such is todays current market value for this type of player at his age and time in the league.

The guy's a solid/reliable in own end NHL D-man and whether he's worth 3m or 4.4M depends on the team in need of a solid/reliable D-man and being healthy enough to play em all so far is big for his value! I still a possibility of having to sweeten or retain a bit of $$$ to move him but who knows. The 'comps' can be tricky T-man,31yro Chiarot got 4.75M from the Habs on the FA market and he doesn't score much more than Murphy(.24PpG-.21PpG) but Bogosian stays with TB for less than 1M per but I guess he likes it down there.

The AS break finds the young Sens at their 'high water' mark of a game over for the year and on a four game streak. Six points in back of the Pens(Pens w/ a game in hand)and still four teams to jump over. It'll be a tough go in the brutal east with two left with both Boston and Toronto(3-1-0) in the first four against the two teams though.
The first two weeks after the break include visits from the Oil & Flames and then visits to Boston and Carolina and the Rags on March 2nd.....Dorian should know all he needs to by then. I believe he stays the course unless something comes along that he can't pass up.

Unless he can get a player in kind of a lateral move. For example. Let’s say Dorion trades Grieg and a couple decent draft picks for Lafreniere? The Rags may not want to pay him the 4 million he’ll be seeking. And to get back assets for him, especially one that can play now, would be a good move for both sides. Or something like that. But I don’t see him doing anything for vets or high priced guys. He has all he needs there. They just need to gel. I think that team will be very good very soon. Look for them to do what NJ has done this year!!!

Anton Forsberg had a nice 22 win,.917sv% breakthrough last year and was north of .900 again this year, seeing starts with 35yro Talbot out again, poor bastard tore BOTH MCL's Saturday. Gotta be career threatening,if not career ending @30. Sens have two 22yros on emergency loan and need a GT desprately.... www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nhl/monday-lnn-forsberg-injury-hamburglar-speaks-and-more/ar-AA17qL7S?ocid=msedgdhp&pc=U531&cvid=451cd45521de48798b649ff4b0927679Too bad one of the FA GT's the Hawks signed isn't healthy and effctive, but like Ott they took a flyer on an older,dinged-up ineffective player or they'd have something to dangle......Sabres need one too. Better GT's than Mrazek were signed for cheaper than 3.8MX2 and he'll be here again next year but ya gotta pay somebody I guess and a few young guys are getting a chance too. 20yro D-man Sanderson's out for a few weeks too the way it sounds. I don't see Ott as buyers with this scenario but they need to move Zaitsev in any event and the Hawks should listen......they might add a 2nd or a decent prospect.

The rousing OT comeback with TWO late goals after sleepwalking through the first 57 minutes was awesome as far as keeping the faithful engaged but the best news I've heard in a while was.......Anton Forseberg out 2-3 months with MCL injuries in both knees........DOES NOT NEED SURGERY!
I don't know the guy from Adam but could you imagine recovery from major surgery on both knees at the same time? Could you even drop a duece by yourself for the first few months?

The back to back W's,an OT win against the Flames after trailing by two late and a SO win on the Island tonight were a welcomed sight BUT not nearly as welcomed as the starts from the Sens two 22yro netminders. 6'8" Max Sogaard stopped 34 of 37 last night and 6'4" Kevin Mandolese stopped 46 of 48 tonight in regulation and OT and the only 2 he faced in the SO for his NHL debut. Both drafted by the Sens.
The 21yro German stallion otherwise known as Tim Stutzel potted his 24th,got his 31st helper, scored in the SO and skated a 2:57 shift at the end of OT after helping Ottawa kill a 4-3 PP and getting caught out there. Hamonic 'Bag skated' himself for 3 minutes plus on the same shift. The Sens won four before the break with Zaitsev in the lineup, lost 6-3 the first game back with him out and just beat two good teams back-to-back with him in and skating big minutes. The Sens want to move his 4.5M left next year, they need bottom six scoring AND they'll sweeten.......they got a lotta sweetener too!

Nice bounce-back trouncing of the Blues yesterday after spittin' the bit at home against the Hawks Friday night going into Beantown today for their 3rd game in 4 days. The Sens have taken 15 of a possible 18 points over their last nine games and find themselves five points out with four games in hand......today should tell us a lot.
The Sabres find themselves only three points out with FIVE games in hand........quick,somebody name either team's staring GT w/o looking it up.

Hell of a road effort in the league's toughest barn on 'President's day' considering the second half of a back-back and three in four days.......now they sit for four days? The Sens had one fewer SOG,more hits, more blocks, twice as many TKA's and fewer GVA's and killed all four Boston PP's in their effort to win their 3rd straight against the Bruins. It wasn't to be.....Boston's a machine! What stood-out to me were the two outstanding hockey plays by McAvoy on the primaries on both of Pasta' goals!s Watch McAvoy let the pass across go through, bounce of the boards, fake a slapper, then do a 'spin-o-rama' to find the wide-open winger for his 40th after 23yro Brannstrom got caught puck chasin'...... www.nhl.com/video/pastrnak-nets-40th-of-the-season/t-336264054/c-15415739And watch the play McAvoy makes from one knee, finding the shamelessly 'cherry-picking' 'Pasta" flying the zone for a break-away and his 41st...... www.nhl.com/video/pastrnaks-second-goal-of-game/t-336264054/c-15416393
