Ok, Hawks are playing too well right now and might screw up the whole Bedard thing, but if they play their cards right maybe they get this guy in ten years.

I for one hope the Hawks give Tinordi an extension. He’s good to have around. Stands up for team mates. Won’t ruin a tank, and he comes cheap. I thought he was having a decent year till he had his injury!!!

this is a little bit troublesome. that's 2 of the last 3 games missed due to a "non-covid illness"...the latest one on the heels of a 9 day break. and the game he did play against edmonton, he took a season low 17 shifts. in fact, going back at least his last 5 seasons, he's never taken so few. (i quit looking so probably a lot more) hopefully i'm reading more into it than there actually is.

The team is tanking, so their presence isn’t fully needed. Like Friedman said, Kane may opt for surgery and shut it down this year!!! Then there's this from the ESPN app: Blackhawks' Patrick Kane undecided on waiving no-movement clause Greg Wyshynski ESPN Chicago Blackhawks star Patrick Kane said he has had discussions with his agent about teams interested in trading for him but has yet to decide whether he'll waive his no-movement clause before the NHL trade deadline. Kane, 34, is in the final season of an eight-year contract that carries a $10.5 million salary-cap hit. With the Blackhawks in a rebuild, there has been speculation this could be his last season in Chicago, a notion Kane hasn't dispelled. On Monday, Kane admitted he has thought about what playing for another NHL team might be like. "I think there are definitely opportunities out there that are intriguing and could be exciting. We'll see," he said after practice. Kane has spoken with Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson throughout the past year about his situation and the future of the team. He has also kept in contact with his agent, Pat Brisson, about his options if he chooses to waive his no-movement clause ahead of the March 3 trade deadline. "He's told me a few [teams] that have kind of reached out to him. Obviously figuring out a team that might be the best fit," he said. "But we're not really at that point there." Kane declined to specify what kind of situation might entice him to endorse a trade. "I don't know. I'm not sure. It's tough to decide if we're getting to that point yet. There are definitely opportunities out there that are intriguing," he said. Kane has had an uncharacteristic down season. The right wing has 34 points in 45 games, with just nine goals. If this output continues, his goals and points per game averages would be the lowest of his 16-year NHL career. That performance has led to reports about a nagging lower-body injury that could be affecting Kane's play. "It's not really something that I'm thinking about or worried about. When I get on the ice, you're not really thinking about anything other than playing as well as you can," said Kane, who doesn't believe his health will be a factor in a potential deadline trade. Kane said he has reached out to former teammate Duncan Keith about potentially leaving the only franchise he has known since the Blackhawks drafted him in 2007. Keith played 16 years in Chicago and won three Stanley Cups with the Blackhawks before endorsing a trade in 2021 to the Edmonton Oilers, where he played one year before retiring. "He was happy he got to experience being in a different organization and playing closer to home. He said he really enjoyed his time in Edmonton," Kane said. Along with Kane, Chicago captain Jonathan Toews is also in the last year of his contract and has a full no-movement clause. He hasn't stated if he'll accept a trade before the deadline.

Both guys have given their all and their bodies are speaking. They should consider staying right here and get 2 year deals, get their health back if they can, and retire as two of the greatest Blackhawks of all time. It would be nice of course but the rebuild does not depend on getting picks for their rentals.

Boy what I get from the ESPN article is Kane has no desire to talk to KD. I really dont think JT has any desire to talk to him either. If they decide to go they will each give him a list of maybe 2 teams.

The team of "best fit" is the team willing to sign Kane to a contract for next year.
This is clearly the topic Brisson is discussing with these teams calling him. When an agreement is reached, Kane waives his NMC.

When an agreement is reached, Kane waives his NMC. Don’t believe this to be the case. No team is going to sign Kane till they have their drs check him out. There’s a good chance he’d fail a physical with the new team. Why are they talking contract when they probably want to know his health is good? Typically with a healthier star player, ya, they may want to be discussing longer term. But it doesn’t always happen. Look at Giroux. He said he’d only go to Florida. And they got Tippet and a 2024 1st rounder. Giroux was kinda banged up too last year. And no extension. So unless a team gets to run physicals and look at the Hawks dr reports on Kane. Nothing will get done. This is why I think he just stays!!!

There's a reason why Brisson is so involved.
Why would the agent be taking calls if the focus remains only on this season? A simple list provided to the Hawk general manager of potential trade rental destinations would suffice.
My guess is that Davidson is sharing medical reports with all interested teams. If Kane is willing to commit with the team acquiring him, he is worth much more than as a rental.
Toews' situation given his health could be different. If my team want Toews, I would wait until deadline day to see what shape he is in. No way I offer him a new contract before seeing how he handles the playoff grind.

I think with the amount of miles Kane and Toews have, along with (rumors of) health concerns, you'd have to think some teams might be a bit wary of signing them with the intent of a follow-on deal. Not saying they'd up-and-retire after a re-sign, but there is also a risk that if either do a major medical proce4dure that they come back a shell of their former self--through no fault of their own of course. Hence why I agree with you.

Hence why I agree with you. Kane is nowhere near ready to retire. Chris Chelios was in his late thirties when the Hawks traded him to Detroit. The Wings gave him a new contract immediately after the trade announcement. Horvat just finalized his new contract with the NYI this week (though the negotiations were more than likely largely completed before the trade). These kinds of pre-negotiated deals happen every year. I believe Brisson is looking to secure a much shorter term deal now for both Kane and Toews. Each player likely has about five or six preferred destinations in mind. Until next year's contracts have been settled, the players will remain noncommittal about waiving their NMC deals They need to hold their cards close so their agent can use that leverage to best advantage. If a team wants either Kane or Toews, they will need to commit to at least one more year after this one. I believe several teams will be more than willing on Kane. Toews might be in a different situation (depending on salary expectations). I understand some look to the Giroux situation of last year as the example for Kane. The difference here is that Giroux intended to return closer to home, and his favoured destination (Ottawa) was not a playoff bound team. Giroux used his NMC leverage to control where he wanted to play as a rental. He picked Florida because he thought they had the best chance of winning. Kane likely is thinking more long term for his next move. My guess is that Toews is as well. We will see in three weeks what happens.

The only reason I can see why Brisson chooses not to pursue this strategy is if one or both of the players intend on circling back in the summer and re-signing with Chicago.
Of course, this is possible, but it would also mean that Davidson would be willing to pay both the market rate for their services.
If this is true, why have we not heard of any negotiations for contract extensions? Would either player really be interested in the life disruption of a two-month rental situation? If Davidson really wished to keep either player, why risk trading them away or waiting until this close to UFA before attempting to get them locked up?

If this was happening it would be breaking news.

Dave pagnotta at thefourthperiod said that the Hawks management communicates to both TK about which teams are asking about them. -maybe a starting point of where their agent to facilitate a trade and re-signing?
Just begs the question, what about teams that TK might want to go to but the Hawks mgmt is saying not asking about them?

Just begs the question, what about teams that TK might want to go to but the Hawks mgmt is saying not asking about them? If I am right... For a trade to happen, five separate features need to be in alignment. 1) The player needs to want to play in the market chosen 2) The team acquiring the player needs to want to have him - likely not just this year but beyond. 3) The team acquiring him needs to have the cap space to make the situation work - likely not just this year, but beyond. 4) Davidson and the trading partner need to agree on a fair package in the exchange. 5) A third party likely has to be involved to swallow a portion of the outstanding contract for this year. I believe Davidson is well aware where the players would like to play. Brisson has held preliminary discussions with those teams which have shown interest. Before Davidson gets involved, Brisson will narrow down the list to two or three serious potential buyers. Then the trade discussions will begin in earnest. I also believe that Davidson and Brisson did hold preliminary contract discussions. Why wouldn't they have exchanged numbers? My feeling is that the Hawk general manager's contract offer was likely very low - far below market value. This is why we are where we are.

In reality, Brisson is using the NMC to facilitate an early UFA bidding war for his two star assets. It certainly is what I would do if I was the agent.

He did, but it's still a risk for the receiving team, irrespective of whether or not Crawford was intending to play or not. NJ still needed to get another goalie afterwards so knowing that Kane might need some medical work might give a receiving team some pause before committing.

It might not put a kybosh on the deal but the amount offered to the 'hawks would be less than if Kane was 100% healthy.
