well, we're trending in the right direction at least. elite prospects had our average team weight ranked 25th last season, 30th in the 22/23 season and 31st in 21/22. i understand these are just the projected rosters but interesting to see the avs as the lightest team. if they could win a cup being the lightest team in the league it could help to dispel the thought that you need size in the playoffs. www.eliteprospects.com/league/nhl/teams-physical-stats/2024-2025The Avs won three years ago, I doubt they were the lightest team then, especially with Erik and Jack Johnson, Manson, Kuemper, and Landeskog.

seen a few videos of teams doing their center ice logos. some use a giant decal. glad to see it's hand-painted at the UC.
anyways....always a good sign. i've said it before, it's like seeing the first robin in spring after a long winter.

I wonder what they did with it. It should be headed to the HOF.
Or my house...

sportsnet running an article about the top 3 destinations for swayman should him and the bruins part ways. the blackhawks were one of those teams, along with vegas and utah. like i've said...a bit too risky for my liking but i wouldn't freak out about it if the pieces going back were not overly excessive in value. nothing much said in the snippet below that hasn't been said here already but here it is anyways. The Blackhawks, by signing a slew of veterans this summer, have signalled they are trying to win as many games as possible right now and spare Connor Bedard the pain of enduring too many lost seasons.
Swayman could certainly help the rebuild shift into arrival mode.
In fact, pair Swayman with one of those summer signings — Laurent Brossoit, who has a .927 save percentage in 34 contests over the past two seasons — and you may just have one of the league’s best batteries.
Chicago could send back Petr Mrazek — who had a .907 save percentage on a bottom-feeding Blackhawks team last season — and likely eat a decent portion of $4.25 million cap hit he has for two seasons.
After that, it’s hands-off the likes of young defencemen Kevin Korchinski and Artyom Levshunov. But, if it meant getting Swayman back, you’d have to believe names like Frank Nazar, Oliver Moore and Lukas Reichel would be in play.
It’s hard to say any of this seems like a perfect solution, certainly for the team and possibly even for the player. But it is a glimpse into what could happen should trade be the business Boston and Swayman choosewww.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/3-teams-that-could-trade-for-bruins-jeremy-swayman/

I’m with GT here. I couldn’t see the Hawks giving up Mrazek, Moore and a 1st. I don’t see how that helps. Hawks are thin on forward prospects. Especially on the top end of things. Moore or Nazar are guys that are hopeful top 6 players. Can’t take that step back. And tending hasn’t really been a problem.
So for me, if I was to trade for Swayman. I would send 2026 1st rounder, G Hayes and either Kaiser or Phillips. That’s as far as I’d go!!!

On an unrelated note, according to Spittin Chiclets, Adam Boqvist is tearing it up for Florida. His brother is down there too. How depressing would it be if Boqvist actually pans out, they would have stolen him and Forsling from the Hawks.

I would say Mrazek, a prospect, and a pick would do it. probably not even a first rounder, although I don't have any issue trading Toronto's first this year if need be. I doubt any prospect going back would be too high of a pick, certainly not Moore or another first or second rounder, besides Reichel. if they wanted Reichel, I would be make that trade in a heartbeat.

I don't love the Jones/Martinez pairing. I am ASSuming that they are trying to give pickle the chance to headline his own pairing, but he and Jones together was our best pairing last season and I am not sure why we wouldn't continue to nurture that chemistry when both are here for a good while...

I'd rather see Allan with Jones, he's a much better skater than Martinez.

nothing mind blowing, but they had the yearly "why do the 'hawks players wear the number they do" article this morning on the Athletic and I thought this tidbit was interesting:
"Then, there are team-specific numbers that aren’t permitted to be worn because they will likely be retired one day or belonged to a recent fan favorite. Duncan Keith’s 2, Jonathan Toews’ 19, Jeremy Roenick’s 27 and Patrick Kane’s 88 fall into the former category. As for the latter, Patrick Sharp’s 10, Corey Crawford’s 50 and Andrew Shaw’s 65 would be included.
When new Blackhawks forward Ilya Mikheyev joined the team this offseason, he asked for 65, the number he had worn elsewhere, but he was asked if he wouldn’t mind wearing another number. He understood and obliged."
seriously? no one can wear 65 right now? I guess I get 10 or 50 (but not really), but 65 shouldn't be blocked at all (imo)...

Sharp was a very good complementary player, but not more so than Dennis Hull or Tony Amonte who also wore the number. Can’t retire every number. And Shaw? Nope. I don’t even get Chelios. He played more seasons in Detroit, two cups. Number 24 isn’t hanging at Little Ceasers.
