That guy never focused on hockey and just loved to crush puss. That’s all he did. He was dating every actress he could. Even Pam Anderson for a while. That was his existence in the National. I’m sure it was fun. Good riddance!!! Your point? LOL!!!! At least he put up impressive numbers at something. A lotta young athletes could 'lay pipe' and play the game, when Namath signed the first million dollar contract(3 years)in sports history,he was asked "Joe,what're ya gonne do with all the money?",he said "I'm gonna spend 90% on booze and broads and waste the rest". 'Broadway Joe' figured-out how to bed starlets and win the SB along the way. Dereck Sanderson carried on famously before he married a Playboy bunny too

LOL, yeah. Looks like it was quite the first period. I'd love to see a video of that period.

Love shots like this to see how the game has changed over the years. Going to the game was an event. Plus, Plante’s stance reminds me of how the goalie looked in my old rod hockey game, maybe the guy in the hat is controlling Plante with that hidden hand.

Yeah, the goal judge in his bullet proof booth.

i feel like a bit of an idiot today.
am i the only sap here who thought the atlanta thrashers logo was a tornado with a hockey stick somehow poking out of it?
today for the first time i realized it was an actual bird and not a tornado and a quick google search revealed the brown thrasher is georgia's state bird.
it all makes sense now.

if you ask me, the fact that they both played with "the pocket rocket" is pretty wild.
edit: i'd better clarify here...."the pocket rocket" was henri richard's nickname (for all you dirty minds out there). : )

I find it weird that Henri is 14 years younger than Maurice. I mean, anything’s possible. But usually by that point the parents are much safer and smarter about having more of them little things running around. I notice this a lot with Russian siblings. One brother is 32 and the other brother is 17 about to be drafted and they don’t have anyone in between!!!

If the team's gonna play structured defensively and Stalock wants to stand on his head,I got an idea(LOL)...... The next shot Murph blocks or big hit he takes,he's dinged-up.....ankle...back....something. In return he gets assured he isn't moved this summer or next and gets all the TOI he wants next year to produce,or less if he wants to stay healthy. Ditto for Zaitsez and he'll be in a contract year. S Jones too?......LOL! Tell Stalock 'the next 'splits' you do will aggravate that prior injury and will be your last for the year with an assured 'one year' as reward.
Call up 'Ruse'...I'm mean Roos and Galvas and get the young GT's some starts too......that oughta work. I dunno if that's within the rules but who follows em anyway.

He's got a point but i can think of a worse scenario.
You're a ref/linesman and you get hit in the nuts with a puck and go down rolling around as you clutch the affected area. The crowd rises to their feet in joy and laughter. There is no home rink. You're always "away". Meanwhile the goalie is likely making 20X what the refs make.

I thought the whole michigan thing was just in the last 3 or 4 years. My mistake. Edit: upon further mad googling, a guy named bill armstrong was the inventor of the lacrosse style goal, which they called the "high wrap" back in the day. Both legg and armstrong were from london, ontario so maybe it should be named the london. : )

KJ doing it in c-bus the other night on the anniversary kinda brought the way back machine outta the closet, particularly in U-M circles... I'll also add that is was enjoyable to see a Michigan Man do The Michigan in ohio...

seems to me that The London would be more appropriate, but I guess you gotta do it on a bigger stage to get the credit...
if Zegras keeps doing it, perhaps they'll name it after him in 20 years...

i actually met him after a game in brandon i'm guessing in 1976 or 1977.
i've seen a lot of great d-men play big minutes in big games before but nothing close to this.
according to his wiki page, he was offered a head coaching job in the nhl with the thrashers but turned it down. he then was assistant coach in detroit for 3 years before getting a job as head coach in the KHL. he subsequently died in that plane crash with his team before coaching even one regular season game.

The Kitchener Rangers made OHL history last night by being the first 8th seed to sweep the 1st seed with a 5-1 victory over the Windsor Spitfires.
