Is it possible the boys were waiting to achieve this milestone before they both ask for trades? They will become just the 11th pair in NHL history to play in 1000 games together. Included in that 11 is Seabrook and Keith, who ended up playing in 1069 games together. It will take a miracle for Toews and Kane to break the Hawks record as that would be sometime next season (as long as both stay healthy) for them to get to that milestone.
I can't find a full list of the other teammates who have played in 1000+ games together, but it's very likely this will be the first time a single team has 2 sets of teammates accomplishing that feat.

One would think that Hull and Makita got there, but maybe when Hull went to the Peg that cut it short.

Who's Makita?
Bobby Hull played for the Hawks from 1957 - 1972 for a total of 1036 regular season games, 70 of those games before Mikita joined the Hawks.
Stan Mikita played for the Hawks from 1958 - 1980 for a total of 1394 regular season games, 475 of those games after Hull left for the WHA.
So if my math is correct (and someone should probably check it) they only played 491 regular season games together.
Also, anybody NOT know how Winnipeg got their nickname?

I have to think both sides want to get the holidays behind em before addressing the issue.

The full list of teammates to reach the milestone, via NHL Stats, include some of the biggest legends in NHL history: Gordie Howe and Alex Delvecchio with the Detroit Red Wings, Henrik and Daniel Sedin with the Vancouver Canucks, Dustin Brown and Anze Kopitar, and Kopitar and Drew Doughty with the Los Angeles Kings, Nicklas Lidstrom and Kris Draper with the Red Wings, Duncan Keith and Brent Seabrook with the Blackhawks, Bob Gainey and Larry Robinson with the Montreal Canadiens, George Armstrong and Tim Horton with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Mark Messier and Kevin Lowe with the Edmonton Oilers and New York Rangers, Alex Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom with the Washington Capitals.so you got howe/delvecchio (1353 games) and lidstrom/draper (1107 games) from the wings as the only other set of 2 different duos from the same team. allchgo.com/2022/12/18/jonathan-toews-and-patrick-kane-set-to-play-in-1000th-game-as-blackhawks-teammates/

even when we play a relatively decent period we still usually get outscored...especially in the first period where we're now a -18 -19.
-12 in period 2 and -12 in period 3 also.
