remember mcdavid , should be an sabre, maybe the best spot is 3rd Honestly though. For the Hawks right now, they need to be the worst so they get a top 3 pick. Next, it really matters in the next rounds. Being the worst means you pick at # 33. Finishing 5th worst means you pick at # 38. Big jump there. So I’ll take my chances at the absolute bottom of the heap. I just have a feeling the Hawks will lose their place at the table. If they finish 3rd worst. I fear they’ll pick 4-5. So let’s just hedge our bets, and finish last already. The race to the bottom is nigh!!!

The year the Hawks won the draft lottery 06-07 season, they finished 5th/6th from the bottom tied with the Oilers. I thought they changed it so only the top3 have a chance at #1? They changed it later after the Oilers won 1st 3 out 4 years. (Totally not rigged)

The team that finishes last has about a 58% chance of picking 3rd. All this was put in place so teams dont do what the hawks are doing. So whatever good luck charms you have break them out May 8th !

Now the Hawks are the worst team by record, if they maintain this glorious pace that will mean they would get no worse than 5th pick.

With a BJs win, Chicago's now 2pts behind them and the Ducks, all played 76gms. Hawks play hard but hopefully their lack of scoring keeps up and they don't win again, unless the teams ahead get points, then the Hawks can beat Philly in the last game.

NHL.com had some comparisons this morning: Bedard - Kane Fantilli - MacKinnon Carlsson - Barkov William Smith - Zegras Ryan Leonard - Matthew Tkachuk Brayden Yager - Toews Mackinnon has ridiculous speed and edge work. I know it is a comparison and have seen some highlights of Fantilli, he is very good skater, but IMO not Mackinnon like. Carlsson by some accounts is closing the gap for the #2 overall. Interesting they do not list Michkov

I agree. I think they were trying to compare styles of play - not necessarily projections to where they will get.

Fantilli was close to 2 points a game. Which is very good for a freshman in NCAA. He’s a special player. I’d be thrilled with him. Carlsson seems ok. I didn’t like what I seen in the WJC from him. He seemed outmatched on almost every shift. Got most of his points against weaker teams. But…….. as a 17 year old, what more do you expect? If there was more, he’d be the top pick. He did manage 6 points in 7 games as a 17 year old.
I think the top four I’d be ok with any of them. But Bedard and Fantilli are more than likely the real prizes!!!

One other thing I can attest to is Colby Barlow. This kid is awesome. If the Hawks win a few unexpected games here. I’d definitely take him in the top 5 if the Hawks had the 4-5 pick, that’s who I’d take. Already captain of Owen Sound at 17. Kid has a beard too. He’s gonna be a man’s man. Has over 40 goals too!!!

Cant figure out how to post article but Michkov father missing for 2 days found dead in a pond. Good grief definitely strange. tough for the kid, especially being his draft year. on a sidenote, he's the oldest looking 51 year old i think i've ever seen.

That’s awful for Mishkov. Just terrible. I wonder if he decides to get the fuck outta there?
But like GT said. He looked like a 73 year old, minimum. I guess living in Russia it takes a massive toll on you!!!

But I believe he could actually play in the AHL. There is indeed an agreement in place between the NHL and KHL. I don’t believe the AHL is involved. So he could leave there and bring his family. On a side note. I know a few Russians. And if they have family back home, they won’t say anything against Putin, and they will not support gay pride or anything. Everyone of them is fearful for their families. It’s really too bad. I doubt any NHL player from Russia will support Pride night. They’re on a world stage and their families will be in trouble!!!

What a tough situation for the kid. If Hawks draft 4th or later and he’s still there, might be one to consider.

Michkov falls outside of the top ten and KD moves up to take him. profit. This is not so far fetched. Or some scenario like this. What if a team fails in the playoffs or just misses. And decides it’s time to start rebuilding? Or go for it? Calgary, Vancouver, Nashville, etc. KD can use the plethora of 2nd round picks or next years 1st rounder (Tampa). For a team looking for extra picks. Hawks could trade Tampas pick this year and next, for a 10-11-12 pick this year and a 2nd. So the trading partner would get 2 first rounders for their earlier 1st and a 2nd. Hawks could even sweeten the deal and add in another pick. But the opportunity is there. And I feel KD will move up. At this point I feel that Mishkov will fall to 7-8. I’m calling it like this: Bedard, Fantilli, Carlsson, Yager, Will Smith, Barlow, Mishkov, Leonard!!!
