Booooooooooooooo. I personally think mustard is just glorified baby poo. I don’t care much for condiments these days. But I’d take ketchup any day over mustard. I grew up with Heinz co. In Leamington about 20 miles or 30kms away. So we grew up on ketchup. Heinz also made mustard, but they weren’t really popular for it. Even Relish they make. I’m also not a hotdog fan. But at the Tigers games I’d get a Hebrew National. And those are some seriously good dogs. Your sodium level will climb. But you can wash it back with Wisconsin’s own Summer Shandy (leinenkugel). I will crush a dog once every year. And I do enjoy it. But gotta keep the “snouts and end trails” to a minimum. I hope Bedard goes full ketchup!!!

slow day. this interview was done prior to the draft. some questions a bit on the dumb side but worth a watch if you're bored. most chicagoans (and big-t) will be glad to hear he likes mustard on his dogs over ketchup. It's such a big issue that Heinz changed the name of their ketchup to hot dog sauce several years ago trying to entice Chicagoans to try it.....didn't work 😆 youtu.be/D7Avm9UOybINot in Canada, it's still Heinz Ketchup. I prefer French's mustard all the way. I've heard nasty stories from people that worked for Heinz, plus it's loaded with sugar.

I'm afraid, after your ketchup post, we'll have to start all over again...

I’d rather a plain dog than one with mustard. I really don’t eat condiments anymore or hot dogs. But when I do. Ketchup it is. And maybe our Murican friends were/are forced “catsup”? So that could be the issue. I see most yanks putting ketchup on at Wings/Tigers games. Just sayin!!!

KD’s recent inactivity is creating tension on these boards. Hot dogs and condiments now, cats v. dogs next? Black coffee vs. the occasional latte? Stick shift vs. automatic trans, that one concerns me most esp. amongst us old timers that trained on that outdated technology and may hold some sentimentality. KD can’t live off his “Kyle from Chicago” quip forever…c’mon man, announce a new pick supplier, or paint supplier for the center ice logo today, something! (Tongue firmly planted in-cheek)

maybe already mentioned, too lazy to scroll back...but i wonder if having bedard inspires other teammates (young and older) to have better exercise/eating habits and work ethics. i was listening to a podcast (i believe) recently, for the life of me i can't remember whose. i guess after games, bedard likes to scoot up to a wall on his back and raise his legs against the wall and stay like that for some time. nobody had seen it before, including trainers. pretty soon most of the team was doing it. can't remember if it was the pats or team canada or another team. maybe someone else here has heard it. anyways...just wondering if his devotion to improvement rubs off on other players? i'm thinking it would. Here's proof you don't need to be in great shape.

I was at work down in AZ a couple months ago and one of the girls asked me if I wanted a ketchup packet with what it was they had ordered for the night shift. I told her "I don't care for sugared tomatoes". she didn't know how to respond to that...😅 lots and lots of us yanks love it, but not this guy. the only thing I'll allow it on (in) is meatloaf, and even then I prefer it without. I'm not sure that we love it more than you Canucks, though. I've seen your ketchup flavored potato chips! what evil bastard came up with that idea?! as far as condiments go, mayo and horseradish FTW. try and prove me wrong!

I was in Vegas once years ago with an ex and we went to dinner at New York New York. I decided on the prime rib and they asked me if I wanted raw or creamy and I said both. the waitress tells me "the raw is pretty hot" but I paid her no mind. food comes out and I slice off a hunk and then grab half a fork full of the raw and in the hatch it went with the rib... lol, I don't think I stopped sweating the rest of dinner. after that bite, I mixed a little raw in with the creamy and stuck to that dipping container!

In chili, I've made turkey chili as much as the more common chili the last few years and it's good too. Although with 5 habaneros, I'd probably have no idea what it tasted like after the first bite.

My jambalaya came from a different recipe my sister makes with Chorizo. I took out Chorizo, added both chicken and andouille, plus the habanero. I don't like seafood so don't use shrimp. First time I had jambalaya was at the House of Blues restaurant. They used to add a whole habanero on top with a warning to anyone who got the jambalaya about the habanero. Then they'd look at me like I was nuts as I proceeded to cut it up and mix it in. They eventually stopped providing the Habanero. When I went to the HOB in Orlando, they now also charge extra for the shrimp.

Good read except those projected lines, Tyler Johnson on the top line is hilarious, it'll most likely be Raddysh, Foligno, or Perry. And Vlasic should be with Seth and Korchinski on the 3rd pair. I like how the vets think this team could get in the playoffs.

I'm going to guess PP#1 is Bedard, Hall, Reichel, Perry and Seth.
Lines to start the season:
Hall-Bedard-Raddysh Kurashev-Reichel-Athanasiou Donato-Dickenson-T.Johnson Foligno-Gutmann-Perry
Vlassic-Jones Korchinski/Kaiser-Murphy Phillips-Zaitsev
Mrazek Soderblom

I agree with the forward lines but I'd switch Phillips and Korchinski. Phillips has more experience and should get a shot on the 2nd pair, if Korchinski makes it past 9gms and earns it he'll be moved up to the top4, Luke will keep him on a short leash though.

You are correct about Korchinski……. But in 2 years time. No way they thrust him on the top pairing as a rookie. Absolutely no way. I truly believe that if he makes the club for the year. It’s a calculated move. They’ll let him get his feet wet slowly. Burn a year of his ELC. And hope he progresses nicely and his 2nd contract won’t be 9 million. It’ll probably be half. And for 5 years. Same as Reichel. I think the point here would S to make these kids earn their way and not give it to them. Korchinski should start the year as the 7th dman. Sprinkle in some PP time. Once he progresses after 25 games, they’ll make a trade and KK will move into the top 6. Another kid will be brought up to replace where KK played as 7th dman. Groom the kids naturally. KK goes to a 5/6 role for the rest of year 1. Which is the way it should go. In 2 years time, I can see KK on the top pair with Seth!!!

He seems like a smart kid and wants to be a complete player. It's great having a GM that'll listen to the coach about players being ready and not the other way around. Luke will do what's best for Korchinski.

Disclaimer: I'm no expert and I happily acknowledge the people who make the decisions are better informed and more knowledgeable than I am in these matters.
I've been outspoken in my belief that KK has areas of his game that need to be improved to reach his potential as an NHL d-man - specifically to get stronger to better handle physical play and his shot needs to get stronger, quicker, more accurate and more willing to take the shot when it's there for him.
So the question is: where is the better place for him to work on those improvements - the WHL or NHL? That seems the key question and I don't have the answer for it. I suppose the answer, if there is a cut and dry answer, could depend on things I'm not even privy to - probably so.
But here's the thing - it seems likely there is a bigger chance to screw things up by going to soon than waiting too long. But again, I'm happy to not be in charge of making this decision.

Kirby Dach may be where to look on your last point. Many believe he was in the "too soon" category. I personally never saw anything that would make him a 3rd overall pick. Maybe he develops into one in Montreal?

We all know the last GM didn’t care about timelines. Everything was a rush and he had to show off his shiny new toy. Boqvist played one year in Jrs in NA. He needed 2. Then a year in the farm. Or at least half a year. But that wasn’t possible due to idiocy. Then to top it off, the kid wasn’t ready and they thrust him onto the top pairing, where he ruined not just his career, Keith failed miserably too.
With Dach. He played literally 1.5 years of Jrs and absolutely rushed to the NHL. He needed maybe 4 total years of Jrs. Possibly some AHL time. That’s the difference.
Korchinski has 2.5 years of Jr experience. But here’s the kicker. He played an extra 30 games last year between the Hawks (pre season), Team Canada (WJC) and a long playoff run + the Memorial Cup. So he’s got quite a bit experience. He has the equivalent to 3+years of jr experience. I don’t believe the extra year in Jrs is going to amount to much.
If KK plays on the 6-7 role, that’s ideal. Start him at 7 for preseason and to start the year. Maybe 6-7 games. Then try him in rotation and switch with Phillips or Kaiser. Let KK get 2nd pp This role and bottom 3 pairing. If he starts to fail. Cut his minutes and put Kaiser or someone else out there. I don’t think he’ll fail with realistic minutes. Throw him on the top pair and he’ll fail. It’s really that simple!!!
