Politics aside, I miss Russia not playing.

Moore is 18 and Nazar is playing his first full season in college. They're on the bottom 6 but they looked better than most of the forwards. There was a lot of turnovers by the Americans but Moore, Nazar, and even Hayes didn't make any glaring mistakes and they all looked good. Nazar took some hits to make plays but bounced up quickly and played hard at both ends. He looks really solid out there and probably has the best odds of making the Hawks next season. Hayes is a smart player and reads the game well, he had a couple really good chances because he goes to the net, he hit the post on a redirect in front. He was also paired with Moore on the PK and did really well together. When the TSN guys were talking about the speed of Norway giving USA problems Moore dumped it in and flew around a couple dmen and got the puck, he's really fast and works hard. He's more of a playmaker because of his speed and passing but he also has a heavy shot. The guy that impressed me the most is Rinzel, I didn't see any problems in his own end, he's really good at using his speed and size to either hit or poke pucks away, plus he's good at clearing the crease. They said he's 6'4" and only in the 170s but those were his draft year numbers, he looks like he's much thicker now and he's very solid on his feet. Is Rinzel a Hawk draftee that is playing for the Czechs along with Gajan? If not, for which team does Rinzel play and is he a Hawk draftee? I have enough trouble keeping up with the Hawk roster shifting between Chicago and Rockford, let alone figuring out which youngsters are draftees and for whom they are playing? For example, if Gajan and Rinzel are both Hawk draftees for whom are they playing when not involved in the World Juniors? Rinzel is on US team drafted in 2022 and plays with Moore for University of Minnesota.

He's big, fast, gritty, and a righty, exactly what the Hawks need with the amount of lefties on D.

Nazar with 3 or 4 assists today. I think 4. His line has been on fire today. But the Swiss look a lot like their cheese.
My Spitfires Dionicio. He’s probably the best dman in the OHL right now, hes all they got. Ohhh well. Nice country though!!!

in the u.s. 11-3 win over the swiss, switzerland's goalie ethan huet allowed 7 of the goals on 30 shots he faced.
of course his dad is former blackhawk goalie cristobal huet.

Of course, in a 11-3 win, one expect to see some big numbers from some players. It's good that it was a Hawk draftee. Man, the Swiss must be extra incompetent. Didn't the Canadians beat them like 28-0?

This is a few years back. He had like 8-9 points in a game. The other team obviously wasn’t very good. But a scout told me this. “Did anyone else do that? If your boy wasn’t there, the score would a been 2-1”. So maybe if Nazar wasn’t there, or off today. The game is that much closer. I don’t care if it was the Swiss. It just shows you how much better he is than most players!!!

He did it and others did not, which is why I said it was good that it was a Hawk draftee who had the big numbers. We'll just have to keep an eye on how he does the rest of the games. I sure would like to see someone come along and help make an offense for Chicago and give Bedard some help.

Canada shut out. Incredible that Sweden hasn't allowed a goal yet. Has that ever been done before?

well...they finally found a way to get bedard off of the ice when practice is over.
edit: maybe it doesn't work so good. it looks like bedard is on his skates and wearing full gear still while korch is obviously not.

well...they finally found a way to get bedard off of the ice when practice is over. Could have used him after getting shutout today against Sweden. Canada has had a rough go against the Swedes lately including the 2023 under-18’s, where some of the current guys participated, where they lost twice getting out scored 8-0 and 7-2. Last year our under 20’s beat Sweden 5-2 with Bedard getting 4 assists.

i can't say i know what "game score leaders" actually means, but i'll post this in case anyone here does because it looks good. edit: found this article about this "game score stat". apparently, it was first used as a basketball stat. The stats I used are goals, primary assists, secondary assists, shots on goal, blocked shots, penalty differential, faceoffs, 5-on-5 corsi differential, 5-on-5 goal differential.
Here’s the formula:
Player Game Score = (0.75 * G) + (0.7 * A1) + (0.55 * A2) + (0.075 * SOG) + (0.05 * BLK) + (0.15 * PD) – (0.15 * PT) + (0.01 * FOW) – (0.01 * FOL) + (0.05 * CF) – (0.05 * CA) + (0.15 * GF) – (0.15* GA)hockey-graphs.com/2016/07/13/measuring-single-game-productivity-an-introduction-to-game-score/i'm a guy who digs statistics but this is getting a ways "out there" if you ask me. i guess it helps show who's got the better all around game, and since it sheds a nice light on nascar of course i'll believe it. : )

Team USA must be pretty good. Moore, Hayes and Nazar all got assists as I think Nazar got two more for a total of 8 for the tourney. But, Hayes did get a game misconduct for a brutal, unnecessary penalty.

Said if there was a norris trophy in juniors, he should get it for his defense.

The announcers really like Rinzel as a D-man. That's good news. Hopefully, these Team USA Hawk draftees will be effective in the NHL also. They can't get here soon enough, if they are.

But, Hayes did get a game misconduct for a brutal, unnecessary penalty. Hayes had his guy lined up for a big hit and they tried jumping out of the way and hit knees. Hayes never stuck out his knee, bad call. He had a strong period though, had a couple good chances and picked up an assist.
