I don’t really care that Canada is out. They were one of the worst teams in the tourney and didn’t deserve it. No net presence, shoot at unoportune times. Wrong team picked and the coaches should never be allowed to do this again. Absolutely no in game adjustments. Canada always recycles coaches. I hope these guys never get another chance.
Congrats to the Czechs. But this is a backhanded compliment. The way they play will never win a tournament. It’s backward thinking and it’s detrimental to the development of its players. What good is it to have 5 guys right in front of your goalie? It may win you a round, but in the long run the kids aren’t learning to play. They may get a goalie to make it somewhere. I just don’t like that style of hockey.
Finland and Sweden have adopted the newer style. Finland has won 2 gold medals in the last decade. Sweden has been there multiple times.
Anyways. I still think this is USAs year to take her home. The best news is like last year. There’s 4 Hawks on there. One thing I like about this USA squad is there demeanour. They’re not over celebrating, they look like they mean business and have one goal in mind. A much better coached team than the folks on the other side!!!

Somehow, I can't conjure up any tears over that one. On the other hand, Moore has an assist as the Americans lead 2-0 over Latvia. He ended with a goal and assist. Hayes, Nazar and Rinzel did not register any points. Looks like it is Team USA's tourney to lose, unless the Swedes intervene and take it away. I won't shed any tears if they get upset, although it would be good to see the four Hawk draft picks win it all.

Well they did have the ref as a seventh man today.

The Czechs down 5-2 now. I said it before and I’ll say it again. Teams like the Czechs may upset the odd team. But they’ll never win a medal with that 2002 strategy. I think it’s best just like Finland to take your lumps and learn to play the real way. Develop skill. Sweden was the home of the left wing lock. Now they play an offensive type game.
But this year. Sweden is playing the bending but don’t break just like the Czechs. The USA will crush them. Sweden also had a pretty easy division. I believe the US squad beats em quite handily!!!

Welp, I never seen this coming. If the Czechs played like this more often. They’d be playing for the gold. Can’t believe they came from behind and gave up on their 5 in their own goal crease!!!

I did not watch this game but why was Hrabal pulled after it was 2-0? Did he hurt himself on the 2nd goal?

I believe he went back in. Maybe the Finns were too cocky? But the Czechs actually played hockey when they were down. About time. It was fun to watch!!!

I will admit when I was wrong. No one in the universe seen the Czechs scoring much more than 8 goals in the tournament, let alone 8 in one game. I did not see 8 goals being scored in today’s game, let alone by the Czechs.
However. Good for Czechia to play some real hockey. They’ve got more talent than they know. It showed today.
I’m not sure what went wrong with Finland. Probably shortest travel of any country. So no excuses there. They played maybe 2 solid games this tourney then mailed in the others it seemed.
But was I ever wrong. Took the under too at 5.5!!!
