At next years draft trade Moore, Allan and Toronta’s 1st rounder for Brady. Even if another pick or prospect needs to be added. Do it. He only makes 8 million, he doesn’t break the bank. Then it gives many options. Brady-Bedard-Kurashev. Turbo-Nazar-Bertuzzi. Slaggert-Dicky-Dach. Foligno-Boisvert-Savoie. That is your 2025/26 Hawks front end!!! If the right HC could ever convince Big Brady he's more valuable to his team on the ice vs in the penalty box.......he'll be better than his brother! He's still only 24 but he's also a captain with 440 NHL starts under his belt, setting career highs in PIM's three consecutive years should be unacceptable at this point of his career. I've seen him get thrown out of games or take fighting majors that were within reach because of his need for immediate retaliation vs staying in that game and 'taking a number' for a later engagement. This BIG BEAST of a center or power winger who wins half his draws, potted 37 last year for his 3rd straight 30gl season and dam near plays em all(missed 3gms the last 3yrs) could become one of the game's very best players with a bit more maturity IMO.

This shouldn't be surprising considering he's been on a shit team his entire career thus far, so many games were essentially pointless. I wouldn't put much stock in PIM's -- a lot of great players have high PIM (his dad being one of them). I actually consider that a strength -- of course, you don't want to take a dumb penalty in a playoff game, but he's never been in a playoff game, lol. Hawks need a player like this. I'll easily stomach the occasional dumb penalty for the multitude of positive attributes he does bring to the table. When you play like he does, of course you're going to have a lot of PIM.

There'll always be a certain amount of PIM's that come with his fierce fore-checking and rugged net-font play, that's understandable but getting himself thrown out of 2 goal games or taking fighting majors halfway through the 3rd when he's needed the most hurts his team. I caught a ton of Sens games when D-cat was up there and Brady's frustration gets the better of him a bit too often.

So 15pnts and a -39 makes the grade for top 4 Dman? And zero pnts for the other 2 how about we give it 5 years? So you're writing him off strictly based on stats? There's a reason he was drafted in the top 10. The whole team was bad and he was a 19yr old dman who lost his dad before Christmas. Let's see how he does with a better team and a year of experience. Sure the other two don't have points yet but it won't take 5yrs, Ludwinski is turning pro and might get a chance sometime next season or the one after. Spellacy might turn pro in 2yrs, with his speed, physically, size, and shot, he might get a look in 2-3yrs. I am not writing him off. You said he is a top 4 Dman all I am saying is right now he is not. I said lets give it 5 years (from trade) and we will know if they won.

Now with the 2024 draft over the Hawks have all three pieces to the Debrincat trade. Korchinski, Ludwinski, Spellacy. Korchinski is a top4, possibly top2 dman, Ludwinski looks to be a top9 versatile forward similar to Shaw, and Spellacy is one of the fastest players in the draft and a powerforward at 6'3" 201lbs. I love Debrincat but that looks like a good trade for Chicago. So 15pnts and a -39 makes the grade for top 4 Dman? And zero pnts for the other 2 how about we give it 5 years? Trying to do an apples-to-apples comparison here: 15p, -39 on a team with a goal differential of -111 (178GF/289GA) <--Korchinski's rookie stats vs. 21p, -11 on a team with a goal differential of -70 (209GF/279GA) <--Keith's rookie stats I agree that we need to see a lot of improvement from Korch and that we should give it a few more years--but 6 points off of Keith's rookie campaign on a team that hemorrhaged 10 more goals and scored 31 less than the team Keith started with? That doesn't eliminate top-4 potential. That +/- wasn't good in any stretch of the imagination--Korch needs to be better, there's still time to find more of a backend game for him and not have him turn out to be Runblad.

And he was playing much better in his own end after Luke had him battling with Foligno at practice to work on covering guys in front of the net. Korchinski was 196lbs before last season, he'll be over 200lbs to start next season and no longer a teenager, with a year under his belt and a much improved team I'm predicting he'll get 50+pts.

I will say it again as of now #14 is not a top 4 Dman unless I am using the Rutta scale. I like everyone else is hoping he becomes one.

You can mock my comment about Folingo and Luke teaching Korchinski how to battle in front all you want but he looked more confident after and played with more grit, that's a valuable lesson in becoming a 2way dman. I'll gladly bring up these posts again during next season.

I think it takes two more years to be able to fairly assess this trade,Korchinski will be settled-in,and it'd be four years since the other two picks we got in the trade were drafted........forwards gotta show something by 22 these days. It also gives D-Cat the stability of the same city, same HC,same system and same team/linemates for three years in a row vs three different teams in three years.
I STILL feel 26yro D-Cat coulda been a bang-up linemate for Bedard, the Lil bastard's still yet to miss an NHL game to injury. I know that's water LONG under the bridge now and no matter what I thought of the trade.......I will NEVER let it affect my assessment of Kevin Korchinski!
I've been careful not to be critical of the 19yro D-man,mistakes will and have to happen for him to improve, how he reacts to and learns from those mistakes will tell us a lot next year. He does seem to have the necessary tools, especially skating and I wish the team would update it's roster as far as height/weight,6'1" 185lbs was his draft size.....wasn't it?
D-Cat hasn't lit it up the last two either to be objective, but two new teams in two years can do that like I said. To stay objective, both teams had a young group that had already come up together and D-Cat didn't skate on either team's top line much. It'll be interesting to see who skates with Larkin and Raymond now that Perron's gone but I hope D-Cat's with Kaner all year........we'll probably see a return to the 40 goal level.

Not to mention he was 6'3" 196lbs when he made the jump, Boqvist was 6' 180lbs and had a concussion his draft year.

With TJ and Martinez they bring a lot of NHL experience, unlike Tinordi and Megna who are career AHLers.

JFresh tweeted out that the hawks and kings are in talks Nevermind he’s just trolling i read his posts after you posted. i don't think he was trolling, more trying to prove a point i reckon. i follow one on twitter called @nhltraderumors. me and about 13,000 others. they post dozens of trade rumors or more a week, when i first started following them, i thought it would be a decent place for info. all this time later, i just follow them now to see if they'll ever get one right. the hockey guy elaborates a bit on how to separate the wheat from the chaff about hockey rumours. (he also mentions the above jfresh posts near the end) btw...he's not a fan of eklund. : ) another way to separate the clowns from the legit people on twitter at least is, if you're not sure about some poster's creds, see who follows them. jfresh has a shitload of hockey people that follow him (36 hockey people that i follow on twitter follow jfresh) while nhltraderumors has like 2. nothing is foolproof...at the end of the day you need to make your own judgement.

I didn't make the comparison as a slight against KK,I like him better at this point than the smaller Swede, I only pointed out the similarities in their pedigrees. My gut feeling on the kid is, bad +/- or not, the experience he got last year's invaluable. Some young D-men are better served developing at the NHL level and I'd say KK has the big league skating ability,NO 19yro's decision making process is gonna be stellar, but I'd personally like to see the kid continue to make those decisions at the big league level too. I'd understand the 'earn it' approach if KK looked lost or refused to engage physically, but I don't think that was the case at all and I imagine you agree. 76 starts and 19:37 of average TOI might have been a bit too much and maybe not,he was NOT sheltered last year. He made his share of rookie mistakes but a smart, young D-man will learn from those mistakes and they were at the big league level,I'd like to see a comparison of his 2nd year's performance at the same big league level to see what he's learned. He should see a more advantageous situation with better vets added and possibly a bit more sheltered minutes and that's okay, having to earn top-four minutes isn't asking too much but I think he's already earned a roster spot and should have to play his way out of it if he loses it IMO. Reichel's lack of interest and physical engagement at times last year has me thinking he's the guy who has to 'earn it'.

Taking a look at Wright's development shows some BIG holes that weren't his doing. His entire 20-21 OHL season was wiped-out by Covid and then the 'Crack' start his ELC @18 but only dress him 8 times and press box him a TON? He did see 20 OHL games with the 'Spits' and 8 with Coachella that year too but that's not a lotta hockey games and three different HC's,systems. Only 8 more for the 'Crack' again last year even though he had 4gls/5pts and a +1 in those games but a solid 22/47 +6 in 59 AHL games and 4/13 +3 in 12 PO games for Coachella. His U18 and U20 tourney performances were pretty dam impressive for Canada! This is the type of age appropriate player who could help change the trajectory of the rebuild and I would commend our young GM if he pulls it off for that or a similar return.

Personally, I thought KK was good the last dozen or so games. I thought he played well considering he was with Megna most of the time.
I too would like to see him at the NHL level this year to show what he’s learned. I know TJ raves about Korchinski. They may even play those two together. But it sounds like he and Vlasic will be paired instead. I think the challenge here is to get Seth to take KK under his wing and become a better leader. I think they’re looking for a lot more outta Seth. I think this is the year Seth makes the jump. He’ll be desirable and possible trade candidate. There’s just too many D prospects here that need a shot. I don’t think letting Seth age out would be wise for either side!!!

Also, I heard this weekend that Vlasic and TJ will be room mates on the road. So it is looking that way. Also on the Seth front. I personally think he’s an excellent defender. I will be shocked with a team this good he doesn’t crush it this year. He only has 3-4 years left of good to great hockey. This will be his year!!!

I hope you are right because I have the same concerns as lord. I think it is a terrible idea, but I have to assume they want Vlasic to get used to playing the shut down role. i guess that would help keep Jones/KK away from the oppositions top line, at least, but Jones is going to need to heavily buy in on being a lot more defensive minded.

I was chatting with a scout that I know the other day. He told me that Vanacker is a steal. He said without that injury, he’d be top 10 pick. So we’ll see what he does this year.
In a side note. I know Hawks had no players invited to team Canada’s summer camp. However, that doesn’t mean someone like Vanacker or Boisvert won’t get invited to the final camp. I don’t believe Lindstrom or McKenna were there. So there’s those two who’ll probably be there!!!
