Well we know one thing about this series, Oilers fans are quit high on there high horse about decimating our Hawks, hope they don’t take them to lightly, or it will be another embarrassment for that fan base and organization, but we all know they would probably be awarded another first round draft choice for there failures.

roster/numbers at 14 minutes in. Eighteen forwards, nine defensemen, and four goalies out there today. Subtract Seabrook for Murphy and that’s the thirty one that travel I guess. I was hoping Black would ramp it up a bit more today but they obviously took it easy. I do have to say though, a couple or three of those ‘Hogs have some game. No matter his size, Beaudin has a mind for the game, always well positioned. It’s too bad he seems likely to be the afterthought when it comes time to trim off the small branches.

I hope they do. we've owed that franchise a few playoff losses. and Mike Smith (if he plays). at the same time, a shot at #1 would be cool too..... and if that doesn't happen, the worst we are picking is 10th..... seeming like a win/win/win to me. 😎

Wednesday's exhibition game's gonna be a real eye opener for a bunch of kids who have basically been playing non-contact hockey against one another......a real eye opener!

I'm not sure folks realize how few sub 170lb players are actually in the league..... www.capfriendly.com/browse/active?display=weight&limits=weight-150-169Hawks and Oil have four of the eight to skate in more than 50 games......sorry,Yamamoto only saw 27 games. edit: Going up one lb to 170 adds Panarin to that group and that's a hell of an add to be fair......Gaudreau and Point are also effect players at that weight but the drop-off after those three is substantial. All three forwards are perimeter players and rightly so,all three have high speed and awareness levels too......it's how they stay healthy

Yamamoto was a PPG player in the regular season after his call up, he can’t be allowed to run around freely in the playoffs. He played with Draisaitl and RNH. Draisaitl will be his normal self but the other two need to be neutralized. Strangely, McDavid was hardly a factor against the Hawks but Draisaitl was. They won’t bring much offence but I expect the Kampf, Carpenter and Highmore line to see a fair amount of minutes checking one or both of those lines.

The Hawks did do a decent job of holding the Oil's best players down in the few games they played but JT had a lot to do with that. Kampf and Carpenter are legit defenders but Highmore might be in over his head against the Oil's best players.

Highmore can at least match his winger speed for speed and hopefully push back the Oilers defense. The Oilers have gotten quicker by those late additions including getting players like Athanasiou. Kampf and Carpenter are two of the best on the Hawks that can cycle. I expect Toews and his mates to get the lions share of neutralizing the Oilers top two. Outside of special teams, in which the PP is hardly special, the scoring has to come from Kane’s line and Dach’s which means Nylander has to show up and the Dach-Kubalik chemistry has to work or you’ve neutered some of your better scoring assets. How long until Kubalik is back with Saad and Toews and Dcat is on Strome’s left side?

How long you ask, before Dcat is with Strome and Saad Toews and Kubalik are together, most likely the second period of game one, when the Hawks are trailing and need goals.

To answer tc's good question and hm's good reply.....I don't know at all. I believe JC might stay stubborn and continue his quest for balanced scoring,I still put Kane,Toews and Kubalik out there and scare the FUK outta the OIL! D-Cat and Strome were lights out with Perlini for God's sake......they'd be even better with Saad IMO. All that said,it'll come down to our D-men and goaltending.....won't it?

just a few numbers to mull. i'd read somewhere that among the 24 team's probable starting lineups, the hawks were the 3rd youngest.
kane's next playoff o/t goal gives him 6 and ties him with the rocket for 2nd overall. that would put him 2 behind sakic. sakic scored 8 in 172 games, kane has his 5 in just 127 games. kane is currently tied for 3rd with glenn anderson. and if seabs ever scores another o/t playoff goal, that will give him 4 and that will be the most ever in nhl history by a defenseman. i'd love to see him set that one before he's done.

Let’s be honest here Bob, if anyone thinks this series will be fairly played they are dreaming. Leon and Connor will be given every opportunity to advance. Just watch for the bullshit calls, the Oilers will be given PP chances at will. The 2 Hart finalists are money for the league, which they desperately need right now. I know the covid numbers were down in Edmonton, but realistically speaking they could of have the tournament played in Vancouver where there numbers are very low as well, this was thought through, give Connor and Leon home ice and every opportunity to win, right now.
