Honest question. Have you watched any games? I’ve watched 4. And he really seemed to play small against the older competition. Actually, he was non existent in a bunch of games. As for the WJC. I didn’t think he was all that great. Not saying he was bad. But he had like a 4 assist game vs one of the worst teams. He needs development. He missed last year. So going to Rockford for the year is the best thing for him. I doubt he’d be on the Hawks. And rightfully so. Let him stay in the farm for a year and half maybe. Let Moore and Rinzel go back for another year then make the jump to the AHL. This rebuild is gonna take some time. Not many of the kids drafted seem to be on a quick trajectory. Which is fine, as long as they pan out!!! Only the World Junior games and a lot of highlights from Michigan. Yes 4 assists were in one game versus a bad team, but he sees the ice well and could've had 10+pts for the tournament, he had some great chances but didn't finish, plus he set up some grade A chances. And I'm sure the guy he hurt with that open ice hit, that got him kicked out, wouldn't say he plays small. He's a hard worker. A lot has to go right for him to make the Hawks next season out of camp, but he'll get a call up at some point if he's in Rockford. If he didn't miss almost a full season he might be ready for the top9 next season, so it wouldn't be bad if he stays in Michigan, but Rockford would be best. Of course Moore and Rinzel will go back, they can be more leaders next season and go for gold again. And Greene should sign and play in Rockford next season. Another possible top9 forward. I think Nazar will be like Dach. No reason to bring him up. Let him Nazar start the year in Rockford. Stay there and develop. The problem with the Hawks before is they couldn’t wait to show off their picks. If any of the kids need more time. Let them have it. See no reason to bring up Nazar next year at all. Let him develop. I think this regime so far has done a good job at not rushing kids. Sure we can say KK was rushed. But what more could the Jrs do for him? I would like to see an amendment to the CHL clause. 19 year olds should be allowed to go to the AHL!!!

If I've read correctly, Roman Kansterov had a primary assist in Manitogork's first quarterfinal game on the 17th. His team has played two games so far in the quarterfinals and have had two shutouts; they've won 4-0 and 1-0.
Since they're up 2-0 in the series and the other team has yet to score, I'd say Kansterov has a good chance of getting to play in the semi finals.

Here's a highlight video of Kansterov's game. It turns out Kansterov took a shot and a teammate put in the rebound.
Start at 6:49. Kansterov starts the play. Even though he didn't end up getting the goal, he had the biggest part in the whole sequence. There's some good replays. After the replays there's an offside challenge on the goal, involving Kansterov.

I like how they haven't called up first year pros like Dach, Del Mastro, Allan, and Commesso. But if Nazar does sign and has a great camp, he might force them to give him a look, absolutely no rush though. And you're right, they should let CHL players who are 19 play in the AHL, it would've been perfect for Korchinski to play there this season.

I know it’s in place to protect junior squads from being stripped of their best players, maybe an “exceptional” clause, like for underage players. One per NHL squad, probably wouldn’t be used all that often actually.

How about letting first round picks at age 19 go to the AHL for better development? Of course they don’t have to, but if need be, the option should be there!!!

You know you're retired with not much going on in your old life when you find yourself watching a KHL game in the middle of the afternoon when you can't even understand what the announcers are saying. I'm watching Kantserov play and he looks pretty good - fast with good hands. He just had a nice chance and the goalie stoned him. Only half way through the first period and Kantserov's team is down 1-0. Guess what - 40 year old Ilya Kovalchuk is playing for the other team. Update: 2-0 after one. Kantserov looks good though. He has a couple shots on goal and although I don't know what was being said I could tell the announcers were talking about him. Update: 2-1 after two. Kantserov didn't factor in on the goal. Last update. Game over - Kantserov's team loses 5-2. He did not get on the scoreboard.

He's playing RW with the Minnesota 1st rounder Danila Yurov as his center and they have them listed as 1st line. I've only watched the 1st period (so far) and I'd say Kantserov may be the best player in the game in terms of getting to pucks and shots on goal.

I can't help but think it says good things about Kansterov when a 19 yr. old kid right out of Russian juniors had been playing on the 4th line, and then gets promoted to the top 6 for the playoffs. It's interesting Kansterov jumped right over the 3rd line into the top 6. I don't know if injuries were behind the move, but if there had been injuries, wouldn't teams normally move their 3rd. line winger up if they needed another top 6 winger. Rather than move a 19 yr. old 4th liner. That's why I'm thinking it speaks well of Kansterov. And he seems to be doing well so far on the upper lines.

While nobody was looking, Misiak scored his 21st goal of the season last night, and Gavin Hayes got another primary assist. Misiak's goal starts about 1:39. chl.ca/ohl/gamecentre/27132/

Misiak was at it again last night, and was the 1st star of the game. He scored his 22nd goal and had 2 assists, one a primary. His primary comes at 1:23; a rebound of his shot gets put in. His goal comes about 3:41. He had 7 SOG. chl.ca/ohl/gamecentre/27138/

My biggest takeaway in that article is Eaton saying Lardis is expected to return to action by the playoffs. He was one of the prospects I was most excited about in the opening couple months when he showed great goal scoring ability to go along with his elite skating. The injury was a broken wrist so I'll be anxious to see if he still has that real good wrist shot that he used to score so much. He has a good one-timer too but I think his bread and butter is that wrist shot. Hopefully he didn't lose any of that with the broken wrist.

Here is Ryan Greene's first goal of the game. Except for being a little further out, it's very similar to the second goal.
Start about :28.

From what I've read, Michigan vs Mich. State for the Big 10 Tournament Championship will be televised by the Big 10 network tonight at 8:00pm.
Just to be sure, that's 8:00pm Eastern. I'm in Central time and my program guide shows the game at 7:00.

That could be a fun game to watch instead of the Hawks. Maybe I'll make a gameday thread for an alternative.

Sign him up…he can complement skill players… He also had a nice cross crease primary assist that was taken away when the goal was overturned on offsides review - and it was Greene that was offside by about an inch when the puck carrier on the other side of the ice zigged a bit - but it was still a nice play by Greene.

Frankie with the only goal for the good guys, so far. the more I see him, the more I think 3LC. he is a worker for sure. I just am not sure he is top 6 material in the NHL.
edit: he has probably been the best player on the ice for U-M so far tonight, imo.
edit #2: and now 2 for Frankie!
