Is this a better situation or just a lateral move in terms of competition. I would say it's a step up in competition. There are more NHL draft picks in the OHL than in the BCHL. I was a bit surprised he returned to West Kelowna this season after playing there last year. Since he's now 19 I had thought maybe he would go to BU and join Ryan Greene. Now, depending on what line he's on, he may get to go against Misiak, or Henry, or Lardis, or Pharand.

Good for him, shitty for me, FloHockey doesn't show CHL games, or div1 college hockey, so I spent $200 to just watch the IceHogs. I was enjoying watching Pridham in the BCHL. But it's a smart move to play in a higher league, surprised he didn't go to the WHL.

An upgrade in competition for sure but unless something has changed I thought CHL players couldn’t go the NCAA route which is why some stay in Junior A. Maybe the scholarship fell through or he just decided this is the better route. edit. I just read that a couple days ago the NCAA and CHL came to terms about eligibility. So I stand corrected.

Kantserov returned to the lineup today after missing the past few games (don't know the reason he missed time). Magnitka lost 0-4 so obviously Kantserov didn't hit the scoresheet and since I didn't see the game I can't report on the game action.

I know OTH won’t like this. Was at the spits game tonight. Spellacy was the worst player on the ice at all times. He was atrocious. Spits lose 5-4. I believe….. from what I saw, Spellacy got benched in the 3rd. This is exactly what I seen last year. I’m starting to think Luke is just a terrible talent evaluator. Ive seen 4 Spits home games this year and Spellacy was meh in all but 1 goal of them. I actually go and watch the games and don’t go off of a stat line. I just haven’t seen or see the nhl talent in Spellacys game. I’ve talked to a buddy within the spits tonight, actually had a drink with him after the game. And he said that Spellacy hasnt been what they’re hoping for so far. But they hope he can find his game here soon. I’m not saying this to be angry or anything like that. But last year I thought AJ was meh. I found out from my buddy within the spits that he had a knee injury and last year was his 4th year playing hockey. So I gave him a pass. But tonight was more of what I saw last year. Not interested in physical play, and looking for the low hanging fruit. One of my best friends (who lives next door) coached Reyth Smith (my son plays with his brother). He was drafted a year ago in the 5th round by North Bay. So we were all there to watch Reyth play tonight. A homecoming for him. It was nice to see the kid play and make it outta here. Good for him. Hope he can make more happen as he gets more experience. I’m great friends with his mom. Good to see her tonight. Anyways, bad game by the spits. Can’t lose to a team like that!!! Thanks for singling me out lol did Spellacy do something to piss you off? Seems like you really don't like him, especially after he was drafted and I mentioned his scouting report and what the Sportsnet guys said about him then you said he's nothing special. And you mentioned Luke being a terrible talent evaluator, but every preseason game AJ played the other teams announcers raved about him and most of us were impressed, except you. The last game you watched and said he should've been kicked out and fined/suspended, well he wasn't and didn't recieve anything for it except 2mins, but he assisted on the GWG and was 50% at faceoffs, 4-8. As far as stats lines go, that's all most of us have, but I also watch all the highlights, of course watching the games is best but I've been playing and watching long enough I can pick up a lot from highlights. He has 7pts in his last 10gms and 4pts in his last 5, including goal of the week, not bad for the "worst" player on the ice. Seems like you forget he's a raw 18yr old 3rd rounder playing his second season focusing on hockey.

It mentioned they had drafted him back in 2021 in a Priority Draft. What I took from the article was Pridham will play for Kitchener this season, and then go to Boston U. next fall. If that is his plan, you're right that it's a smart move for him. He'll be better prepared for upper level college hockey.

Minnesota with a rare game last night and won their 9th straight with a 5-3 win.
Moore ends his pointless streak with 1g-1a, no points for Rinzel.

Windsor got spanked by Sudbury 9-3, Pharand with 2g-1a.
Spellacy with zeros across the board, he wasn't kicked out so I wonder if he was injured.
Henry with an assist in a 7-5 win, Misiak didn't play. That assist tied his total from last season of 7, in 38 less games.

Out of the Hawks less heralded prospects, it looks like Alex Pharand, Dominic James and Aidan Thompson have all come down with the same offensive bug to start this season.
Pharand has 15 pts. in 17 gms. It includes 6 goals. Last season he had 30 pts. in 68 gms. That included 13 assists.
Dominic James has 13 pts. in 9 gms. It includes 7 goals. Two seasons ago he had 10 goals in 35 gms., and 28 pts. He currently leads UMD in points by 3. He's off to a great start after missing nearly all of last season.
Aidan Thompson has 19 pts. in 11 gms. It includes 8 goals. He's currently second in points for DU, behind by 1. Last season he had 30 pts. in 44 gms., including 11 goals.
I'd say Ty Henry has a bit of the same bug. As OTH has mentioned before about Henry, he currently has 9 pts. in 17 gms. It includes 8 assists. As compared to 7 pts., all assists, in 54 gms. last season. I'd say Henry is a good example of a young prospect that has some good abilities but is considered raw, and just needs ice time. I'm curious how the rest of his play has been.
Even though they aren't among the higher ranked Hawk prospects, it's good to see them having good success so far.

Start about 1:20.

The sites weren't updated when I checked after the game because it said Henry had 7 assists, nice to see he set a career high with 8. They did update his height and weight though, 6'4" 209lbs, it's funny how EliteProspects had him at 6'3" 198lbs but in their report said "The 6'4" defenceman brings NHL caliber skating". As usual the NHL site is off and have him at 6'2" 197lbs. It's smart to take a chance on big guys in later rounds, especially when they're said to be athletic and great skaters. It's nice seeing the long shots stepping up this season, Thompson, James, and Pharand are seniors now so they should have improved numbers but compared to their previous seasons they've taken big steps offensively, especially Thompson. Unfortunately James only played 2gms last season before his injury, 1a in those 2gms, but he's looking great this season. Pharand was known as a solid defensive forward, glad he's putting it together at the other end, 9pts in his last 10gms. The Hawks and Hogs need more 6'3" 200+lb forwards.
