honestly? no doubt i'll be in the minority here, but i'm not a fan of goals like the one matthews was trying here. i can't say why. it's a skill move, no doubt....and the league can never have enough skill moves. i'm just not a fan. it's also just a matter of time before someone scores a goal lacrosse style but it's called back because the shooter makes contact with the goalies mask with his stick.
goalies will catch on eventually. mike smith saw one coming against nashville's forsberg the other night and nearly stopped it.

yeah probably best that the Oil lock him up. as was said, he is gonna get a decent sum with the stats he is amassing with McDavid.
They’ll over pay for him before someone else does. He’s been playing a lot with McDavid and Kassian. His game away from them is mediocre at best. He has a chance for a big payout. He’d be an idiot to leave Edmonton. But then I never thought of him as a Mensa card holder. edmontonjournal.com/sports/hockey/nhl/cult-of-hockey/on-the-seventh-day-of-turtlegate-zack-kassians-contract-talks-heating-up
[b In 48 games with the oilers he's 1 point shy of his career best in 73 games with with the canucks a few years back. Hell...even dave semenko (RIP) was somewhat a goal scorer with #99. Be interesting to see what the next contract pays him. He's on just shy of 2 mill a year currently, he's likely going to get upped to 3.5 mill for 2 years? Just my guess. edit:upon further review i'd say 3 mill.

why i love hockey.
guy gets a stick in the chops, goes down, picks up his missing chicklets, skates off...offending stick owner apologizes, guy with missing chicklets shrugs his shoulder as if to say "no problem-o. just a couple of teeth." guy with altered smile likely misses one shift tops.

i thought when panarin left chicago his numbers would suffer without kane on his line. wrong-O. he should be at least nominated for the hart trophy if he keeps these numbers up. the rags would be close to detroit in the standings without him in the lineup. crazy numbers.

Kane's been able to keep his numbers up too my friend and the Breadman's been great on the big NY stage...….these great players will get their's no matter where they play.

yep. I was certainly wrong about trading him we either should've kept him or gotten a lot more than we did for him..... o welp.... I was ok with trading him. But that was an awful trade. Like not a even close at all. We should a had a least a first rounder thrown in it. This is why Stan should not be here. His scouts tell him of decent players. He signs them or drafts them, then makes stupid trades all the time. It’s mismanagement of his assets. He was literally given the key to the world, and he destroyed it very quickly. I’m still not buying this recent surge, it’s the same as the last few years. They even won the gawd damn west a few years back and got swept. If we make the playoffs, this team doesn’t fight scratch or claw for anything. They’ll be destroyed, and another wasted year!!!

tkachuk's a punk but i'd love him on our team.
seems like PK realized he'd made a mistake even before his gloves hit the ice.

too bad he couldn't get a few more shots in. PK has about a dozen more ass kickings due, imo.

damn it eddie. get your shit together.
Former NHL star goaltender Ed Belfour has been arrested for criminal mischief and alcohol intoxication in a public place after an incident in a hotel early Tuesday morning.
Police in Bowling Green, Ky., arrested the 54-year-old native of Carman, Man., at the Kentucky Grand Hotel and Spa.
Belfour was booked into Warren County Regional Jail and then released later Tuesday morning.
The arrest report says Belfour was lying on the floor clutching a curtain rod that had been ripped out of the dry wall above a window when police approached him.
The report adds that Belfour was kicking a door to the locked spa in an attempt to get in. It says he had slurred speech, bloodshot eyes and could barely stand up.
The police say Belfour was not being compliant when officers tried to put handcuffs on him.

Big brother has a chance to finish what he started in Edmonton Wed night.....does he turtle again? good question. the league will be watching this game close so it wouldn't surprise me if there wasn't a fight but i'm going to be watching tomorrow just the same. i'll drop a link here if anyone else wants to watch. if they do go, i think it'd be toe to toe this time, or at least i hope it would be. www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/nhl/oilers-flames-tkachuk-kassian-nhl-preview-1.5443778

i was just going to post a similar link. belfour being in the whiskey business is possibly not the best combination although we all screw up from time to time. i don't imagine you're a rye whiskey drinker but we might all appreciate a review of his bourbon seeing as it seems you have a well developed and experienced palate. : )

As a Yank,I thought whiskey,Bourbon and scotch as a youngster when it came to the brown stuff but I had a western Canadian epiphany when the gal I was with at the Stampede in '81' ordered a Canadian and a Rye at the bar(we'll get back to that) I said why don't ya just have a shot and a beer...….she taught,I learned...…...Alberta was AWSOME! I also found out 'wheat' bread was 'brown' bread,a 'vacation' was a 'holiday' and what a 'Pill' and a 'OV' were from the same lovely, self appointed tour guide. Even the Alberta Budweiser was good but gettin' back to bars...….why don't you guys have bars in your bars?LOL!
