uggggg.... welp, that combined with their goalie being hurt and out a while should really put a hurtin on the Avs chances of winning the west..... blows have a nice easy road to the finals in the west right now.... i hear ya'. but if it's closer to 6 weeks than 8 weeks the avs might be okay. as far as their goaltending...if lehner ends up there (makes perfect sense), they'll be my favorite non-canadian team in the playoffs. (unless we pull off a minor miracle of course)

(unless we pull off a minor miracle of course) you and me both. tbh, I've had a soft spot for the Avs since they moved to Denver. they were the foil to the hated wangs when my beloved 'hawks weren't able to be (although I farking hated them in the second round in '96 - you shove those rings up yer arse, Patrick). now that I think on it, this actually could help them. they now have all that cap space to use if Rantanen stays on LTIR until playoff day 1. which I hope they take advantage, because I can assure ya that the blows won't move ole Tarasenko off it until the postseason begins....

The Avs were able to overcome the loss of Rantanen earlier in the year and Kadri and Calvert recently to stay a point back so who knows, injuries usually catch up with a team though. The Avs have a TON of cap space to do something with at the TDL too.

bummer if this ends JB's career but obviously things could've been a lot worse. he's had a relatively injury free career up until the incident and owns the 9th longest ironman streak in nhl history (737 straight games over 10 years). he got his cup, over 1200 regular season games and 36 years old. so he's been fortunate in many ways. Tonight was the 12 year anniversary of Mickey Renaud’s death from the same thing. He was Captain of my Spitfires, and died at home. They always have a game on this night. I was talking with his dad tonight (Mark Renaud played for the Hartford Whalers) and I still feel for the guy losing his son. It’s very tough to talk about it with them. But they’ve got a great attitude towards life in general. It’s hard not to get choked up over this, it was awful for the community. Mickeys Parents still live in Tecumseh Ontario, literally 1 min out side of Windsor. Great people and it’s sad to see anyone go through this. I’m very happy for Bow and his family that he wasnt a victim of this, 36 is way too young to go. I hope he gets to live a long and plentiful life now!!!

Too lazy to hunt up the tweet but eklund said the av's were looking at craig anderson and ryan miller. I'd love to see craig anderson go out on a high note but to be honest if i was sakic neither goalie would be anywhere near the top of my list. But then again, it is eklund after all....

no way they aren't interested in Lehner. i just got this vibe about lehner. i mean....really.....how did we get him so cheap? for a year? many here might disagree....but i loved the signing from about 7 seconds after the moment i first saw it. but i just get this feeling that teams are a bit leery of him, whether it's his mental history or what....idk. or maybe i've just a couple too many beers tonite. edit: no doubt i'll wake up to tomorrow's headline.... "Hawks trade Lehner to Colorado for a 1st and a 3rd".

The Habs gave up a 4th for Scandella and then turned around and moved him for a 2nd and a conditional 4th......somebody give Chevy a pat on the back.

if this wouldn't fire up your team nothing would.
nathan gerbe...5'4" tall (but a hefty 169 pounds). shortest guy in the league. tort's has gotta' love it.

I’m not ripping on Gerbe here, good for him. But Sanheim should be embarrassed of himself there. He had probably 10” on him and probably 25-30 lbs. and he got rag dolled. If you’re gonna challenge a guy, gawd dam better be ready!!!

But I think he rubbed a lot of people the wrong way the past few years. The Islanders didn’t even offer him a deal. And neither did many other teams. Right now, I wouldn’t pay him much more than he’s getting. He really hasn’t proved enough to get that kind of money. A 7 year 7.5 million per seems far too much for me!!!

(you can't really win a fight against a little guy. you either beat him and be seen as a bully or get beat and seen as a wimp.) so i'd usually go with guys my size or bigger. thinking back, likely why i got my clock cleaned 90% of the time....

allows goals on the first 2 shots he faced but blanked the leaves the rest of the rattling off 8 straight saves. (while wearing a marlie's mask)
only watched the last 25 minutes or so but man, did toronto look bad. my brother (diehard leaves fan) is here in asia on holiday...he's either in myanmar or borneo now. gawd, i hope he wasn't watching this one. outshot at home 47-26 at home against a team they were tied with and battling for a wildcard spot with.

Seems like today is the perfect day to say this: DO YOU BELIEVE IN MIRACLES? of course he was the game's first star. someone on twitter said they should've let him drive the zamboni out instead of his quick skate-around. : ) man, i like brindamour.

Not a better time to revisit this.
Because it never happened in toronto (the center of the hockey universe) it is likely already forgotten.
Both great stories but foster's saves were way tougher.
edit: btw...that 11 second span of Q smiling behind the bench represented 92% of his total as a blackhawks's coach.
still love that little sideways shrug he gave to murphy when the horn blew. : )
just a coincidence that ayers and foster both wore 90?

Inconsistency is the hallmark of a bad team as we've come to realize.

There's not a shred of DNA in my body that would ever allow me to pick on a little guy and I picked on no one to be honest but occasions did occur....LOL! It's not uncommon for a Lil' dude to get liquored up and look for the biggest guy in the place and that was often me and I often obliged. Sometimes a little bluster would suffice and sometimes it wouldn't,my buds used to call it the 'bum of the week club' when we went down to Rush street on the weekend!LOL!

Habs showing how to rebuild from within. Now you have to make those picks count, or at least parlay them into something better. What the Hawks have to do with their tradable assets.

Better the Caps then Boston. That’s the team I hate. But I have a soft spot for the ‘canes.

But I have a soft spot for the ‘canes. couldn't agree more about the canes. but with hamilton and pesce out, it'll be tough for them this year. i've got this gut feeling that the flyers will come out of the east, or at least make the eastern conference finals. their goaltending has been a question mark for years now but they've got real balanced scoring across all 4 lines, and they've very quietly put together a pretty nice season.
